“A lonely heart decided to move on,
After its only source of love was lost.
It might eventually find another source,
But doesn’t know how much it will cost.”
Two years later, Naresh, who is now living it another city, has returned home after a long time. He walks towards his flat and before entering, knocks on the door, only to insert the key and open it. He reacts as if his imaginary girlfriend has opened it and hugged him instantly. He enters the flat, closes the door, takes a shower and sits down to eat his breakfast. He keeps looking at the chair in front of him and pretends to be looking at “her”. He smiles here and there in between and tells her to “stop” or else he might start blushing too. He washes the dishes and begins talking to the imaginary girlfriend:
“I have finally learned martial arts, baby. It was tough, but it felt good to learn something so enthusiastically. You’d have loved seeing me there. Come here and give me a kiss on the cheek… Thank you. I love you; truly and completely. You are always there when I want you and always with me while I’m awake or asleep. Thank you… Sandhya.”
Yes. Naresh now has Sandhya, an imaginary girlfriend. He imagines any beautiful girl on the internet as her, and fantasizes about her as Sandhya. He goes to the movies, and imagines she would also want to see the same film. He goes to eat pizza, he imagines she would want to eat the same pizza as his. Every time, everywhere, Naresh finds himself accompanied by the imaginary girlfriend who doesn’t doubt him, doesn’t disturb him and always brings him happiness even without actually existing. Naresh is fully aware of this, but imagining being with a girl he likes gives him more pleasure than being alone would give him pain.
He is now living what he prefers to call a simple life. He plans to visit a hill station with the expectation of turning his imaginary girlfriend into a real one. He boards the train with a bag or two and goes to his seat. He listens to music and closes his eyes, imagining a new favorite actress as Sandhya, following which he slowly opens his eyes and smiles.
He then looks around himself and pulls out the earphones. With nobody looking except the passenger in front of him, he quickly draws out his sword and counters attack from a group of assassins. Everyone is shocked as the fight unfolds. While making sure no one else is hurt, Naresh gives the assassins a tough fight. He manages to get them near the door. Using a newly perfected move, he chops off all their hands and kicks them all out of the train at once. He then washes the blood on the sword and proceeds to return to his seat, only to realize a drop of blood is still on his face. Other passengers are now totally terrified of him.
Who are they and why did they come after him? Here’s what happened before he was “learning martial arts” away from the city.
Naresh kept visiting his abandoned home and it brought back violent, depressing memories since he couldn’t believe his father actually did it. He decided to sell the house and use the money somewhere. This is when he met Deepak once again. Yes, the same guy who filmed his father’s videos of violence. As Deepak began teasing him about losing his faith in his father as well as the “only” girlfriend he had, it angered Naresh but he chose to remain quiet due to his father’s actions. He had almost decided to leave quietly without saying a word, but the moment Deepak said that the videos “could be fake”, Naresh grabbed him by the collar once again, which didn’t go down well with Deepak, who kicked him away.
An enraged Naresh tried fighting back, only to be constantly kicked by Deepak who also kept taunting him about being a bad son and lover to Sunanda. Naresh was surprised as to how he knew Sunanda’s name. Deepak revealed he loved Sunanda much before Naresh entered the scene. Being the son of an influential man, Deepak fell for Sunanda after she consoled him when his brother died. They became friends and their bond grew deeper when they first went on a date. Deepak proposed to her, and she instantly reciprocated. When Naresh asked what happened after that, Deepak stopped hitting him and told him it was a personal issue and he won’t disclose it to a stranger. All he could disclose was that he still loved her, and that Naresh should no longer try to pursue her.
Following this, Naresh went straight to Sunanda’s home and forced his entry. He asked her about why she “pretended” to love him if she already had a boyfriend. Sunanda expressed mixed feelings over this and said she didn’t want to see him anymore. Naresh grew hostile and said he could kill Deepak, just to provoke her, but she smiled and told him to get some treatment for the injuries caused by Deepak. This made Naresh feel sadder and for the first time he felt disappointed about being physically weak. This is what prompted him to go and learn martial arts. He became skilled in handling different types of swords, even small knives. His training took a few years before he returned to his home once again. This time, he went to Deepak and asked him about the videos involving his father. Before Deepak could even touch him, Naresh dodged his blow and kicked him. Thus unfolded a short but effectively violent fistfight between the two, which ended with Naresh winning. He grabbed Deepak by the collar again, and delivered a heavy punch to his face. As Deepak collapsed, Sunanda came running out of the house to stop Naresh, who quickly pulled out his sword and pointed it at her without knowing it was her. He realized it was her the moment he turned in the direction of the sword. It began raining. Sunanda told him she was married to Deepak and that she still didn’t want to see him. Naresh told her he would kill Deepak if he didn’t reveal how he filmed his father killing people.
Deepak revealed the killings showcased in the video were real, except his father was forced to kill the people for money. “Who forced him?” asked Naresh. “My dad.” replied Deepak. Naresh was left surprised already, but the surprise doubled up when Sunanda said, “Me too”.
“A heart that dared is now in trouble,
Everyone wants to burst its bubble.
Either there will be something remaining,
Or everything will turn to rubble.”
