The necklace of salvation

Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Sep 22, 2023

Meanwhile, Sancho made his way to Jack's house to check on him. The narrow street was quiet, and the only sound was his footsteps echoing off the cobblestones. Sancho's sense of unease grew stronger as he approached Jack's house.

When he arrived, he knocked on the door with urgency, but there was no answer. He tried again, but still, there was only silence. Sancho's anxiety mounted as he called out Jack's name, but there was no response. The quietness of the empty house sent chills down his spine, and he couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. His heart sank as he feared the worst.

"Where could he have gone? What if something terrible has happened? Did Jack go to Christina again?" Sancho muttered to himself, his mind racing with endless possibilities.

Sancho's thoughts raced as he realized that Jack might have lied about his work. A feeling of dread washed over him, and he tried to convince himself that Jack would never hurt anyone. Still, the knot of worry in his stomach only grew stronger. He knew he had to find his friend and make sure he was okay.

He made his way to Christina's house, his mind spinning with worry. As he arrived, he found the house empty, and a sense of panic gripped him. He asked around and found out that Christina and Lauri had left for their ship journey, and everyone had gone to see them off at the shore. Sancho's heart sank as he realized Jack could be on the ship, and he had to hurry to find him.

A sense of urgency filled Sancho as he raced toward the shore. He could see the ship sailing away in the distance, and people waving below it. Sancho sprinted down the sand, his heart pounding in his chest, and tried to search for Jack among the crowd, but he was nowhere to be found.

Sancho felt relieved that Jack was not there to hurt Christina, but he was still worried about his friend's well-being. The sound of the waves crashing against the shore was calming, but it did nothing to ease the turmoil in his mind. He knew he had to keep looking until he found Jack and made sure he was safe.

Jack's heart raced with a mix of emotions as he paced back and forth in the cramped quarters of the ship. His mind was a jumble of thoughts, each one more turbulent than the last. The scent of salt and sea lingered in the air, a constant reminder of the vastness that lay beyond the wooden walls of the ship.

His anger simmered, threatening to boil over at any moment, as he thought of Lauri and Christina's treachery. He could see their faces clearly in his mind's eye, twisted with deceit and betrayal. The sound of the waves crashing against the hull of the ship seemed to match the tempo of his racing thoughts.

Suddenly, his eyes fell upon the gleaming edge of an ax, hidden away in the corner of the room. The metal glinted in the dim light, beckoning him with its sharpness. He reached out, his fingers curling around the handle as he lifted it up.

The weight of the ax in his hand was solid and heavy, reassuring in its heft. It felt like a promise of resolution, a solution to his problem. He could practically feel the edge of the blade cutting through flesh, the satisfying thud of it sinking deep into bone.

But even as his mind plotted revenge, a small part of him hesitated. Memories of his love for Christina flooded his mind, their happiest moments together replaying in vivid detail. He could feel the softness of her skin under his fingertips, hear the sound of her laughter ringing in his ears.

As he looked down at the ax, his grip loosened. He knew he couldn't bring himself to hurt her, even if she had betrayed him. The salty sea air seemed to calm him, the sound of the waves lulling him into a sense of peace.

But the thought of losing her to another man was unbearable. Determination hardened his resolve as he whispered to himself, "I can't let her go. But I can't let her marry another man either."

With a sense of purpose, he crept toward the door, the ax held tightly in his hand. The ship creaked and groaned as it sailed deeper into the open sea, the waves growing larger and more tumultuous with each passing moment. The sound of the ocean was a symphony, each note more powerful than the last.

Lauri and Christina were oblivious to his plan as he took a deep breath and pushed open the door, the salty breeze hitting him in the face. He had to act fast before anyone noticed what he was doing.

With a forceful swing, Jack's ax slammed into the bottom of the ship, the sharp metallic clang echoing through the cramped cabin. Christina, startled by the abrupt sound, jolted upright, her senses on high alert. The sudden noise reverberated in her ears, making her heart race with apprehension.

As Jack retreated to the safety of the cargo box, he was hit with the overwhelming sound of rushing water, which crashed against the sides of the ship like a fierce tempest. The force of the water shook the box violently, tossing him from side to side like a rag doll. His heart thundered in his chest as he held his breath, bracing himself for the worst.

In the midst of the chaos, Jack's head collided with the rough wooden surface of the box, sending him spiraling into darkness. The pain reverberated through his skull, and he could feel his consciousness slipping away. The last thing he heard was the cacophonous sound of rushing water, the frantic screams of his companions lost in the chaos.
