The Knights of Flogur

The Three Patrons.

The Three Patrons.

Sep 25, 2023

It was about an hour after the daily, "Tror-Lunch-Kickout!!" As everyone called it, Kager was wiping the dust out of some mugs when a comotion outside disturbed him. Every one stood and moved towards the windows looking out front, Mumble, mumble, mumble. The people were whispering to one another, Kager couldn't hear what they were saying, but he could hear some sort of loud fighting going on. 'When there is fighting, there is broken glasses.' Kager thought to himself. "Alright folks time for me to close the Inn."
"Whattttt?"
"Please dont close."
"Well i guess thats it then."
Were some of the things that the customers were saying. "Don't fret. It's jus' for today. Tomorrow will be the same." Kager told them reassuringly. All the people milled outdoors, Kager and his employees left by a side door. The commotion was a group of three odly dressed people, standing around some guards.
"IT SEEMS THAT WE RAN INTO A PROBLEM. TAKE THIS AS A LESSON, NEVER CROSS ME!! HAHAHA!"
 The large axe warrior shouted.
"calm down. you are acting like a fool." The mage whisspered to him.
Kager stood frozen in place, the scene in front of him was disturbing, the esteemed guards layed sprawled out. Two guards were standing with shield and spears raised, one was thrown through a fruit vendor, and another was being supported by his comrade. "What... happened here?" Kager asked. But before anyone could answer, there was a trumpet blare, then the whole troop devision marched forth and surrounded the strangers.
"HALT! BY DECREE OF LADY DELIA, GUARDIAN OF THE VILLAGE OF ROTTINGWORTH, YOUR ARE TOO ACCOMPANY US, QUIETLY, TO THE MANSION!" The captain of the division yelled out.
"LIKE HELL!!!" The axe man yelled as he ran towards the captain.
But then he dropped to the ground all of a sudden, the swordsman had moved quickly and come behind the axe man, hitting him in the back of the head with the pommel of his sword. The axe man fell to the ground unconscious, and the three strangers walked with the guards to the mansion, the axe man being dragged since he was out cold.

Kager looked confused, the incedent had left just as fast as it had come. "It sounds like the big guy was asked questions by the guard thrown through the fruit stand. And then the others came over, the axe man moved fast and struck em' down fast. But it also sounds like the three people were here to see her Ladyship." Netry wlaked up and said to Kager.
"How the hell did you know that boy!?" Kager asked rather angrily.
"I was cleaning the front windows like you asked me to." Netry said exasperated. Bang!
"Don't-talk-BACK!!" Kager yelled with a wack to the back of Netry's head.

Kager opened the Inn back up, and business went as usual again. About an hour after the fight the three strangers walked back through town, the axe man looking disgruntled and rubing his head. People stared at them, but for the most part life continued. Around three in the evening a procession of troops came, guarding the ladys carriage. The group stopped before a ten foot high stand in the middle of town. The lady stepped up onto the stand, and a second person walked up to a large horn on the stand. He filled his lungs, and blew long and hard, a deep resonating sound rang out across town. All one-hundread plus villagers gathered around the stand.
"LISTEN NOW! THE LADY IS ABOUT TO ADDRESS THE WHOLE VILLAGE!" The same captain from earlier yelled out.
"Thank you captain, but I can introduce myself." The atractive young Lady Delia said.
"Dear citizens, the King has called all Lords, Dukes, Ladys, and Duchess to the capital city Blouthu. I need troops with me for protectin on the long journey, but I can not leave you unprotected. So I call forth the reserve troops."

(Important info: The standing troops at a fife or village is small. But in case of war, or the troops being occupied elsewhere, there are men whom normally farm, sell produce, or craft something, but on these ocations they are called to arms. Thoe they aren't soldiers twenty-four/seven, they are professionally trained, and just as capable as the main troops.)

"So the captain here will stand at a table, all reserve men are to report to him." With this the Lady finished her speach. Women looked scared, young men looked excited, and the reserve stepped forward. One of the people was the beloved Kager. Kager walked up to the table and handed the captain his ID slip. "Name, date of birth, and rank." The captain said.
"Kager, Brennan. The third month, fith day, thirty-six years ago. Rank: Knight, third class." Kager answered.
"Well here is your orders, go home fetch your armor, report to the blacksmith tomorrow. Tell him your preferred weapon, give him your armor. Prepare to leave in two days." Kager nodded his head and walked off.
The rest of the day he ran his Inn as always. There was the usual evening break, during this time Kager sat and watched a kricket buzzing away, content and unaware of the world around. 'I wish I had that luxury little bug.' Kager thought to himself. It was now six p.m Kager was inside running the bar, the kitchen was working at full speed, and every one was eating together celebrating there brothers, sons, and fathers. All the reserve troops were asigned to guarding the trip to Blouthu. So, sorrow, excitement, and stress were the atmospheres of the night. About five p.m the three strangers had walked by draging a monster towards the mansion.
Every one shook Kagers hand, thanked him, saluted him (Kager is the reserve commander) and told him of how they look forward to the journey. It was now nine-thirty p.m, the Inn was almost empty, except for the guests staying in the rooms. The three strangers walked in, Kager looked up, now that he had time to look at them he realized who they were. Jasmine began to walk towards them, they had chosen a table in the corner to sit at, when kager grabbed her. "No it's a little late miss, go home for the night." Kager sayed with a smile. "Okey." she responded unsure.
"Good night sir." Netry said.
"No you damn bratt, your gonna help me serve." Kager yelled.
"But its too dark already, I wont be able to walk home. I dont live in the village like Jasmine." Netry responded
With a glare Kager nocked him across the head with a ladle, "I said it too many times today. NO-TALKING-BACK!"
Netry walked over to them, rubbing the back of his head. "What will you have tonight folks."
"Hmmmm, I will have some camomile tea, and rosemary bread." The mage said, her hood was now off. She had wavy purple hair, green eyes, and (as I said before) full red lips.
"Lets see, Meat, whatever meat you have i want all of it. The soup of the day, a keg of ale. Whatever pie you have, some apples, bread, and I think that's all." The large axe man said.
"Just water and coffee for me." The swordsman said.
"Always hungry you." Mage
"I cant help, i get hungry." Axe man.
Netry heard them say as he walked towards the kitchen. As Netry walked out with their order, Kager painfully grabbed his hand, "Be carfull Netry, thoes people are from a guild, the Black Knights guild. I have heard it's members are dangerous. Try to listen to their conversation, but dont let em' know you'er listening though."
He let go and Netry nodded his head.
"Well, this is disappointing the beast was weak, and what we actually came for is not here." Swordsman.
"Well Trill, you did say it was north, this isn't north." Axe man.
"Really Hugo, your opinion doesn't matter. Eat your feast." Trill.
"Boys really, your so immature." The mage said as Hugo was about to throw meat at Trill.
"Armena is right. Anyway...."
"Shhh, the boy is coming."
Netry was setting down their things, when he got next to Trill he grabbed his arm and twisted it.
"What did you hear, Boy." Netry swallowed nervously
"N-nothing." N
"I don't believe you." T
Trills hand moved towards his sword, and his eyes flashed dangerously. "I-I swe.." Trill threw him back. Netry stood up and quikly walked off.
"Te-he, your so funny Trill." Armena said
"Ho ho, I'll say!" Hugo said with his mouth full of food.
It was eleven-fifty-two p.m the inn closed at zero-hundred hours, Kager was getting ready to turn them away, when Armena walked up. "We will take your farthest room." She said as she put down some gold.
It was around one a.m when they went to bed. Kager had let Netry use his room since it was late, he was sitting in front of the fire when something started to bang against the door. Kager stood up and walked towards the door, it was Tror, he didnt look drunk, nor crazed, he looked sain, calculating. "Are they here?" Tror asked.
"What, who?" Kager
"Those Black Knights." Tror
"No, they are in room section five." Kager
"Good, please sit I need to tell you something. Be..be..before I cant think." Tror
"Okey let me get some ale." Kager.
