‘That creature sure is interesting…’ Mircale who had been silent for so long commented.
‘I don’t know about interesting… but she really did save me today.’ Alex said as he glanced back at Coco.
‘That is true, I wonder if she belongs to the race of— Alex up ahead!’ Miracle warned sensing something.
Alex quickly stopped in his tracks as soon as Miracle’s warning came.
But to his surprise there was no one up ahead. The area up ahead was completely empty. Only the distant sounds of battle cries entered his ears making him shiver from time to time.
‘Oi! There’s no one h—’
“AHH!” Alex screamed in surprise as he felt someone grabbing his shoulder out of the blue from behind. This caused him to jerk away and take a few steps back due to the sudden appearance of the strange person.
The person was clad in white armor along with a red cape having blue color on its inner side. His face was clearly revealed and it could be described in a single word, ‘Handsome’. Two short swords were hanging to his black leather belt. A black cloth was worn by him underneath as there was armor covering only his torso extending up to half sleeves and having long leather hand gauntlets covering his hands till his elbows. Aside from this his legs were completely covered with the armor.
The man looked human. He circled Alex as he began to poke him on his back, stomach and raised his hands as he analyzed him thoroughly.
“You don’t look strong… well, the stone still chose you so I suppose I can’t help it.” The man said in his soft melodical voice.
“You don’t look much either in your fancy costume, are you a performer or something.” Alex said a bit irritated.
“Oi kid this is my best armor, well I don’t expect kids these days to understand fashion.”
The person said as he flicked his hair, a mixture of blonde and grey.
“Okay I am going to take my leave now.” Alex said indifferently as he started walking in the opposite direction.
“Wait! Where are you going!? You disrespecting brat.” The man complained, shouting like a child. Alex turned his head to look at the man suddenly depressed as he made drawings in the ground with his fingers like a child.
‘Great all the weird people in every world have to cross paths with me don’t they.’
“There, there don’t go crying on now.” Alex said as he patted his back. He already knew this was someone even stronger than a general and that he didn’t have a single hope of escaping him. There was no point in running.
“So, who are you supposed to be?” Alex asked.
“Well, I am a Warlord and–
In order to get him by surprise Alex had kicked his head with all his force, at least that’s what he tried until the man caught it with one hand.
“-I Heard the news about the stone but sine the other warlords are away on some important business I came back from the border to see what was going on.” The man said releasing Alex’s leg.
‘My chance of defeating him after using your temporary energy surge?’ Alex asked Mircale.
‘This one’s quite a troublesome insect. I am afraid you have less than 1% chance.’ Miracle replied.
Alex gulped as he observed him closely. The man was unaffected by Alex’s attempt to kick him. To him blocking it was the same as breathing air.
“The fight going on outside is too boring for me to interfere so I thought I’d come and check on you.”
“You can actually sense me?” Alex asked surprised. In all this time that he had met the many strong people none were able to sense his presence.
“It’s quite difficult, I have to use some spell to actually detect you, well anyways enough chitchat, you don’t seem dangerous to me so I’ll just take you alive but if you try to fight you know I am already bored so I’ll just kill you and take the stone.” There was no threat in the man’s voice, it even felt welcoming but Alex knew not to be fooled by his casual tone.
‘Well, I guess this isn’t a movie that I’ll just be able to overcome these monsters with mere luck and times running out, even if I explain him, it doesn’t seem like he’ll believe me. I guess it’s time to—
‘Wait! Another troublesome insect is here.’ Miracle warned before Alex could act recklessly.
“Oh, well-well if it isn’t The Great Demon Damian Marley.” The man said disrupting Alex’s thought. Alex seemed confused at first before he realized whom this joker was suddenly talking about.
“Hadn’t you gone to the border for some work, Aeolus.” Damian said.
Alex immediately looked behind at the origin of the unknown voice. He got a little shock at the sight of the huge red demon in a long black coat, having rough features on his face.
“Yeah, well I got bored and came back to see what was all the commotion about. Still there really isn’t much going on, but I had a slight hope that you’d be here after seeing Barren outside.” Aeolus said with an excited expression.
“Listen I don’t have time for your silly games, I need to deliver this kid somewhere and its important so get out of the way.” Damian warned.
Aeolus, “Oh well you see we have a conflict of interest now; I too have to deliver him somewhere.”
“You guys do know that I am here, right?” Alex said as he looked at the two arguing over him.
Damian ignored Alex and said “So it means you are not going to budge.”
Aeolus only nodded his head in agreement.
