Children from the Zamora Family can inherit their Dukedom and everything owned with its name, by being born or chosen with the God of Fate's other half, the God of The Source; Kessem's features, abilities, and translucent runic symbol located in their right eyes.
Anyone that does not have the runic symbol, or a strong appearance along with any natural ability given by the God, cannot overtake the Dukedom no matter what they may try–even if this causes the family to fall into ruin for however many generations.

Although fortunate or unfortunate as it may be, the Zamora Family had only one child that was fully Blessed by the God within the last two generations; while the rest were either born without any, or had an extremely weak connection to the God.

'I should be grateful that Melrose was never Blessed by Kessem. Although I can’t help but pity Lysander a bit, since he used to help me a lot when we were young and even now in him trying to defend me after death.'
Sighing deeply in thought, Gwendolyn clenched her teeth and glared at the ground.
'Lysander only has our fathers eyes while having our mothers hair, and Melrose resembles our father much more than mother.'
Gwendolyn couldn't stop her scoff as she sarcastically side grinned, glancing up for a moment at the passing images of her parents.
'Mother is recognized as being a Zamora, but she isn't able to take over the Dukedom since she only has one natural ability and it's the weakest in the history of our family.'
Boring a hole in the ground with a stoic expression, she soon shut her sore and tired eyes, holding her face in her hands while trying not to fall apart.
'Should I be happy that Grandfather is the current Duke, and not any of my other incompetent family members? At least he refuses to give the title away unless it's too a legitimate heir such as himself.'

"Yes, it is a shame...what do you say to trying to convince your father to let Melrose become the next heir?" Gwendolyn stiffened and froze in place.
She stared up at her parents as she bit her lip in anger at her father's question, drawing blood due to her chapped lips but instantly healing afterwards.

Her mothers face paled in complexion. "I would ask if you’d lost your mind!?"

"Did I say anything wrong to be considered losing my mind? Your father said that there would be no other heir for as long as the one blessed by Kessem is alive. But look! She’s no longer here and your father is too old to carry on the Dukedom. He’s ready to screw over his entire family and make all of us broke and mocked. But not just our family, the entire legacy of the Zamora name will be screwed over for another generation–hell even more if there’s still no Chosen One!  Wouldn't it be wise to convince him to let one of our children become the next Duke, rather than your other brothers and sisters?"
Gwendolyn felt appalled by her fathers words, as if in his own twisted way knew something like this would happen and was glad that she died so he can use it to his advantage.

Gwen hugged her queasy stomach while staring back at the ground. "Do not forget that by Imperial Law, the oldest child is to be the heir of their family. Are you not the oldest of his children whose children are also eligible to be first in line of succession?"
"While that’s true, the law doesn’t count towards the family of those who are blessed by the Gods!"
"But now she’s dead and she’s never coming back!!" Widened eyes stared up in disbelief at her fathers words, watching his anger stricken face. "Can't you get your head on straight and think through that fucking dense skull of yours!? Think about how we’re going to survive this!"
Her father quickly standing caused Gwendolyn to shake in fear, holding a hand over her mouth as her eyes fell to the floor once more. The stomps of her fathers feet making their way to her mother; listening as her father grabbed his wife's hair and threatened in a low voice.
"You should be grateful that I'm holding myself back because we’re in public and our child died. But don’t even ‘think’ to run away when we get home."

Gwendolyn shakily breathed after hearing her fathers threat.

'Father...no. He’s worse than a bastard, I know that now. Despite his disgustingly ruthless behavior, he didn’t even shed crocodile tears after hearing how I died. He could have planned my funeral with Lysander, but instead he hasn’t changed. He didn’t even bother to bring my name into a conversation once.'

With the sound of a door opening and slamming shut, Gwendolyn jumped in surprise with a gasp as shouting was heard. "Azarios!! You didn't let that soul go, did you?!"

Watching Azarios tilt his head towards the female with messy golden blonde hair and indigo frightened eyes, he replied seriously in his monotone voice. "Which soul?"

The pale-faced female dressed head to toe in white to match, panicked as her eyes grew wide, grabbing both his shoulders while shaking him back and forth. "I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR YOUR STUPID GAMES!! IT'S THE ONE WHO'S BLESSED BY KESSEM! SHE SHOULD BE A RECENT SOUL THAT WAS MURDERED IN A CARRIAGE EXPLOSION!" Tilting her head in confusion, Gwendolyn decided to stand but became light headed quickly after as a feeling from her chest tightened and her breaths shortening.
She knew her overloaded mind with information was trying to get her to further panic, but Gwen managed to stay calm and delay the sudden panic attack for a bit longer; taking in deep breaths until she realized Azarios was staring at her as the female was still shouting at him while gripping the front of his black garments in irritation.
"ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING YOU UNGRATEFUL BRAT?! IF YOU SENT HER AWAY ALREADY, DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND HOW COMPLETELY SCREWED WE ARE!?"
