The house was brilliantly lit thanks to a multitude of windows. However, in the darkest corner, huddled into the very corner, sat a young woman. She had swathed the baby in clean swaddling clothes, while she muttered something quietly to herself.
Approaching closer, a man with lush brown hair spoke:
"Could you feed the baby?"
His tone was friendly; he wasn't giving orders. Taking a bronze coin from his pouch, he extended it to the young woman. But she showed no reaction, only her whispers grew quieter, and her lips and hands trembled in fear. Felix furrowed his brows, casting a glance at the man lying before the house.
Surveying the surroundings, Felix noticed that the house was far from well-kept, and it was clear that this woman was not the one tending to it. Leaning closer to her, he looked at the infant in her arms, but it was a lifeless body. Felix's eyes darkened, knowing that corpses could turn into monsters if left unchecked. He pondered how to proceed and began to speak:
"Feed my baby, and I will tell you where yours is."
The young woman looked at Felix.
"My child is here, with me!" She began to aggressively shout at the man.
"It is no longer yours. It will soon be taken by either the Abyss or the Mother!"
"No!" She began to hysterically scream and tremble in place.
"Understand, this child in your arms will not only take your life but also the lives of others, until the local knight defeats it. Just return it to its Mother, and she will grant it a better life..."
The young woman trembled, but Felix continued to speak, his voice calm and unwavering throughout his narrative about the Mother.
