Note: This is set after the mess with Shadow happens. This is not part of the actual story, just a halloween themed special short story.
Kryptonite
"Kryptonite! Wake up!" Crystal said, shaking Kryptonite awake. She sat up, rubbing her eyes.
"Why are you waking me up so early?" Kryptonite asked.
"It's Scaloween!" Crystal said. "Come on, get out of bed!"
"Ugh," Kryptonite said, dragging herself off of her bed. "And you're going to make me help you with decorations, aren't you?"
"Yep!" Crystal said brightly. "Come on, let's go!" She grabbed Kryptonite's talon in hers and dragged her out the door. She ran toward the closest landing balcony and paused as Kryptonite caught up with her. Once they were both there, they took off into the sky.
Crystal turned into a spiral as she rode a thermal. Kryptonite followed behind her.
Once they were a sufficient distance from the palace, they turned to look at it. It was normally pale red and stone gray, with dark-gray-tiled roofs, but in the spirit of the holiday, it had been painted black with bright orange roofs. On top of that, Spinner had created several large webs that added an extra spooky feel.
"Hey!" Someone below called. The two glanced down to see Firetail and Slangfang flying up to meet them.
"How are you guys?" Firetail asked once they had reached the same level in the sky.
"Pretty good," Crystal answered. "You?"
"Lots of meetings between our tribes," Slangfang said. "Where's Rainbow?"
"She sleeps in," Crystal said.
"And she doesn't have anyone to make her get up early," Kryptonite added, giving Crystal a pointed look. Crystal opened her mouth to say something, but she was interrupted by a loud groaning sound. And then Spinner rose from his cave.
His massive wings momentarily blocked out the sun as he glided to meet them. Kryptonite noticed Stryker flapping along above him.
Spinner found a large clearing and landed, shaking the ground. Stryker gracefully landed next to him. Her long, snake-like body coiled up as she folded her wings. The other four landed as well.
Slangfang coiled up his body like a snake and looked up at Spinner. Firetail stretched out beside him. Crystal's scales glimmered in the morning sun as she shook out her tail. Kryptonite sat beside her, the colors contrasting vibrantly.
Then a bright light briefly shone from the palace. Rainbow flew out, leaving a glowing trail behind her like a comet. She landed in the clearing with a loud bang.
"What'd I miss?" Rainbow asked.
"Nothing, yet," Kryptonite said. "We were going to wait for you."
"I wasn't," Slangfang said, yawning. Firetail thwacked him with a wing.
"Okay, costume planning begins now!" Crystal said. "What are we thinking?"
"Vampire," Slangfang said. "I've got the teeth." He bared his long, pointed fangs.
"Werewolf, maybe?" Firetail said. "I'm not entirely sure."
"I think werewolf would work," Rainbow said to him. "You're already the right color."
"I think it'd need to be a bit more brownish," Crystal said.
"Nothing a little spray color can't fix," Kryptonite said. "I'm going as a witch! What about you, Crystal?"
"Mummy," Crystal said. "Rainbow?"
"I'm going to do a Frankenstein," Rainbow said.
"Alright," Kryptonite said. "And, Stryker, are you going to do a costume?"
"Nah," Stryker said. "But I am most certainly going to be handing out candy."
"What kind of candy?" Rainbow asked.
"I'm not sure yet," Stryker answered.
"Pleasedochocolate!" Rainbow said, so fast that it was hard to understand what she had said. "Chocolate is the best candy ever and barely anyone hands it out so please do chocolate!"
"Alright," Stryker said. "I'll do chocolate."
"Yes!" Rainbow said.
Fourteen hours later. . .
"Trick or treat!" Crystal, Kryptonite, Rainbow, Slangfang, and Firetail all said. The older dragon smiled and gave them each three lollipops.
"Wonderful costumes," She said.
They had been trick-or-treating for an hour, starting at seven o'clock. It was very fun. So far, much to Rainbow's surprise, there had been five houses already that were handing out chocolate. Two had entire bars of the stuff.
"This is a wonderful Scaloween," Cysral said, nudging Kryptonite's neck with her snout. Their wings brushed lightly.
"Now everyone's being gay," Rainbow complained sarcastically. "And I'm still single." Kryptonite glanced behind her and saw that Firetail and Slangfang had their tails entwined and were talking softly with each other.
"You'll get a boyfriend eventually," Crystal told her.
"When, though?" Rainbow asked. "Am I doomed to be alone forever!"
"No," Kryptonite said.
"Ooh, look at that dragon over there," Rainbow said, pointing toward a tall, handsome male dragon dressed as a vampire. "Isn't he cute?"
"If you say so," Crystal said.
"I'm going over to say hi," Rainbow said. She sauntered over to him.
"There she goes," Kryptonite sighed. "Again."
"How many is that, now?" Crystal asked.
"The seventeenth, I think," Kryptonite said. "If this one works out, I'll be very surprised."
"It probably won't," Crystal said. "Ooh, Stryker's house is coming up soon! Let's hurry." She sped up.
"Sure," Kryptonite said, hurrying to catch up with her, laughing.
In a world of dragons, we begin our story. These dragons have a civilization like ours. They have an advanced society with technology similar to our own. They have complex societies with politics, schools, and governments. It has some vital information contained, so it is advised to read it. In the main storyline, starting with chapter three, you are introduced to two other kinds of dragons. The Avis and the Reptilik are bird-like dragons and reptile-like dragons. All Avis dragons have a special ability that corresponds to the type of bird they are, and the Reptilik can use magic spells. I hope you enjoy the story.
