Midnight struck.
Both hitmen arrive at the building, clipping their ear pieces. Esperanza spoke through.
“Alright you two, listen to me closely, before entering, make sure you have the chips I’ve given you. Activate it by clicking the green button and it should scan out the first parts of the building.”
Valentino and Enzo quickly did as she had instructed and waited until the scan was complete. As it had done its scan, the device revealed layers and routes clearly.
“Alright, Enzo. Let’s go through this vent, it seems big enough for us to fit.”
Enzo nodded as he punched the vent cover open. Both men entered separately. Esperanza shouted silently through their earpieces.
“YOU MORONS! THE VENTS?”
Enzo spoke through as he paused crawling through, shouting quietly as well,
“Well where else are we supposed to go!? There was another route but it was a little too risky. Stealth missions may be our best plays but for something to be stolen is a different kind of risk! If you want this stupid device then we will go on our own terms when we need to.” Enzo shut his earpiece to concentrate better as he continued crawling through.
Esperanza sighed out of frustration and annoyance.
Valentino reached the end on his side of the vent, seeing a few people walk by. But before punching through the vent, he listened to their conversation nearby, squinting.
“So, is it ready?” One voice spoke,
“This is only the prototype, we need to test it first before we continue to pick at it. This could be an amazing solution for our world!” Another anonymous voice spoke. Valentino watched as they finally stirred clear from his sight and punched through the vent, staying out of the way of cameras. Enzo broke through the vent from the ceiling, carefully letting go and landing silently, both men nodding, quietly moving across the hallways.
“Gahhh this is taking forever! Why can’t we just disguise ourselves?”
Enzo groaned silently not to disturb anyone who may be around,
“Which brings us to our next plan! Esperanza told me earlier to bring these along, I hid them in a compressor.”
Valentino pulled out a bag from his back pocket with vacuum sealed clothing. Both men froze as they heard footsteps approaching, looking around for a place to hide,
“Quickly, in here!” Enzo pushed Valentino into a small stuffy closeted room,
“Okay here…she said to click this annnddd-“
The bag instantly inflated, releasing all of the compressed air,
“Oohhh~” Enzo whispered in awe,
“Alright, she was able to replicate the clothing from the people working here so we can blend in a little. UGh, and I have to take my headband off for this. I hate it when my hair gets in the way…" Valentino complained. Enzo chuckled,
“I do wonder though, is there another reason your hair bothers you when it gets in your face? I remember back when we were kids you really didn’t mind it at all. You always hid the other eye on purpose for some reason. Unless it was just a style you took upon?”
Valentino grunted,
“Uhm…well…” he was interrupted by the sound of more footsteps and small conversations that passed by.
“Uh- hurry we need to get that weapon! We can’t waste any time.” Valentino whispered nervously, Enzo staring until he looked away in a bit of more curiosity by his own question, thinking.
“Hm. He never answers that question. Maybe there's not much to say since it’s just hair? Mm but again, even back then I had an issue with my own hair. Always put up in a ponytail due to abuse n trauma. Hated having my hair up like that, now I just like it in a lil man bun or just loose.
Why hasn’t he told me anything though?”
Valentino pulled him out of his thoughts as both men applied the clothing onto themselves and tried to look as
convincing as possible to blend in. Enzo spoke gently,
“You’ll be fine then, it’ll just be for a little. I know how much you hate having your hair in your face.”
Esperanza stared into her tablet, watching the Hitmen’s progress.
“Hmmf, well they’re not dead or caught yet, maybe they’re not half bad.
She scoffed, crunching on a few chips beside her as she spectated.
“Alright, both of you, I need you guys to steal the keycard from one of the scientists ahead of you. I’m sure you guys have a special way of getting it I suppose? So much for the “top hitmen” of all time.”
Valentino spoke through,
“Of course we do. Watch and learn amor~”
Esperanza rolled her eyes.
“Man, breaks here are so short- we honestly- aCk!”
They grunted, Valentino turned around,
“Oh my apologies comrad! Didn't mean to bump into ya! Man, I really need to get my glasses. Left them in the lab haha! Cmon partner!” Waving his hand towards Enzo and grabbing onto his arm and dragged him across the hallway,
“Are uh, are they new here?”
The other colleague shook his head, unsure as they watched both men walk off. Both men reached to an elevator, with Val slowly taking out the card he stole from bumping into the scientist,
“Nice Val!” Enzo silently shouted. The elevator opened, both men entered and waited.
“We’re just about there with the weapon Es.”
Enzo quietly spoke through the ear piece.
“Great, now just disable the security, retrieve the weapon, and get the hell out of there. I’ll help with some of the bigger security since it’s computer generated.”
Esperanza sighed.
“Wow, they’ve gone pretty far. Honestly, it’s impressive.”
She whipped out her computer and started to work along with them, helping to disable some parts of security linked to the weapon.
Both men slowly detach some parts of the device carefully while receiving the help from Esperanza. However, she came across an error,
“What?” She clicked around trying to avoid the error, instead she clicked on it, giving her a massive warning screen.
“Huh this is… odd. It should be safe to rel- “
Her eyes widened.
“Shit…”
The alarms sounded.
“W-What happened?!” Valentino shouted.
“VAL, ENZO. GET OUT NOW! LEAVE THE DEVICE!” She shouted.
Valentino responds,
“UHh Es we’re kinda in the middle of something! Whole place is alerted!”
“JUST GET OUT! LEAVE IT!”
Valentino and Enzo looked at each other concerned as they had to fight off a few of the guards. Enzo pulled out his gun and looked ahead and saw a window,
“VAL, LET'S JUMP!” Pointing towards a window from behind. Valentino saw more and more people crowding around them and pulled out a device, throwing multiple pieces shattering around the crowd as Enzo picked him up, shooting at the window to break through easier and ran off towards the window. And as Enzo jumped through the window, Valentino turned around, manically smiling, his eyes full of violence as he detonated the explosives, lighting up the sky as they flew further into the air from the strong blow of the building blowing up up top. Rumbling the ground as smoke and fire burned across the building, glass and bricks scattering across the streets.
Esperanza shouted into the ear piece,
“BOYS? CAN YOU HEAR ME?” Only silence. But a voice sounded through eventually,
“Yeah..? We’re alright..” Enzo spoke through, holding onto Valentino on his arm, only slightly limping from the heavy fall,
“What, the FUCK was that all about Es? We had that device on our hands and you fucked us up telling us to leave it?! You better have a damn good explanation.” Enzo growled into the ear piece.
“I do. Listen…as soon as you guys get out of there entirely, do NOT come back. Go to your home and I’ll explain everything.”
Val and Enzo sighed.
“Fine.”
Esperanza heavily exhaled. Face planting onto the computer.
“I can’t believe it. He’s been lying this whole time. That PRICK- I KNEW something was going on. “
A door opened up as Hokaze walked in,
“Hey Es! How’s the heist going for the guys? Did they get it?”
Esperanza stood up and ran towards Hokaze,
“Haze. This was a mistake. Camoren isn’t telling the truth. He’s going to use the weapon for something horrible to our world, and I just found out by reading the transcripts the device had given me during an error. Its potential on what it can do if it’s in the wrong hands is catastrophic. Haze, please DO NOT tell him I found this out, I trust you. I just need your help.”
Hokaze’s eyes widened,
“Woah woah! Calm down there Es, are you sure that what you saw is what you saw? I mean, it could be a million other things-“
“Haze. I know what I saw. We need to stop him. You’re the only one I know who’s closest to him, I need you to help me with this. Okay?”
Hokaze hesitated for a second,
“Okay. I’ll try.” She exhaled, walking back out from the room.
“God. I need to warn the guys. Ugh, why are they taking forever?!”
Valentino and Enzo arrived back at home by foot nearly an hour later.
Slightly wounded from the fall, but thankfully they had gripped onto a few things to break a heavier fall. Enzo gently placed his beloved on the couch,
“You alright Val? That was a crazy explosion you put up there. It was impressive though hehe.”
“Yeah, I’m alright hun don’t worry. You know I’m a tough nut to break mi amor~” Valentino purred. Enzo chuckled,
“Now, big horns better give us a damn good explanation for postponing our heist. We had that stupid device right on our hands until they fucked it up by not helping us get the security off. They had ONE job.”
Valentino groaned,
“This is why we go solo.”
Enzo sighed as he lifted Valentino’s leg, pushing back his pants to get a clearer view of his wound, applying a small cotton full of disinfectant.
“There, it should heal up very soon. It’s not too bad. Tough nut to crack right?”
Valentino softly giggled.Their phone started to ring aloud,
“Oh, that’s probably her.”
Enzo accepted the call and placed it on speaker, holding the phone up. Esperanza’s face showed up.
“Okay, So. I have some news.” She showed her computer, giving out her explanation,
“The frequencies the device was showing gave me a small error at first which I thought was just because there was a problem with the device disconnecting from the security-“
“SO IT WAS YOU-!“ Enzo shouted, interrupting.
“Hey! I’m not finished. Sit down and listen!” She sighed and continued,
“Eventually, I received the transcripts that the device gave me, and it’s not good. Listen, what he’s planning to use this weapon for is worse than you might think. Hell, even the world might even get fucked over if he gets his hands on this. He’s using you. Though, you two already knew that, but took it either way just to get your side of the deal no matter what.”
“HRR THAT FUCKING LIER!” Enzo shouted as he clenched his fist. Valentino growled. Esperanza froze.
“A-Are you even listening to the actual issue I’m explaining?!”
“WHO CARES IF THE WORLD WILL END. HE LIED. “
Valentino mumbled,
“I KNEW we shouldn’t have trusted him.”
Esperanza shouted,
“Woah woah don’t tell me that that’s ALL you’re concerned about?! Are you two serious? The whole world could’ve been at stake and THAT’S what got through your heads?!”
Valentino and Enzo growled,
“Don’t worry. We’ll pay him a visit right now. And ask him, politely.”
“WOAH HEY YOU CAN'T JUST-“ Valentino hung up the call, both men angered.
Esperanza tried calling back,
“COME ON- ANSWER THE DAMN PHONE-“
Hearing the door slowly open,
“Uh Oh…”
Camoren entering the room.
“Uhm.. hey boss.”
“So, were they successful?”
Esperanza stared into his eyes as he walked closer,
“I-I’m not sure. They hung up on me half way and aren’t answering me. But, they said they might pay you a visit later. Maybe they did get it. But I don’t know for sure.”
Camoren lifted an eyebrow,
“Might visit? Hm. Well, I’ll be sure to wait on them by my office, make sure the guards lead them my way so they don’t do any funny business. Got it?”
Esperanza nodded,
“Yes sir.”
“Good. Let’s hope these so-called “professional assassins” live up to their name. Heists shouldn’t be an issue at all.”
