“Miles!” He was finally able to make out what Collones was saying, as he was shaken out of the trance that he had, once again, found himself in.
“Miles, do you know that man?” Collones asked, her eyes wide and her hands tightly gripping onto Miles’ shoulders.
Miles, who was still a bit out of it, asked:”Wait- what did you say?” Collones sighed as she looked down for a brief moment, collecting her thoughts and trying to calm down a little:”I asked:’Miles, do you know that man?’” she asked, the grip on Miles’ shoulders loosening, and her voice a bit softer.
Miles could kind of sense the worry in her voice. “No Collones, I don’t,” he answered slowly and calmly;”Why though? Is he dangerous?” The worry in Collones' voice when she asked the question made Miles worried. Collones' colours slowly came back into her cheeks and face.
"Okay then" she sighed "Just… Be a bit more careful from now on, alright? That guy is one of the most dangerous people known to man" she said as she looked over Miles' shoulder.
"He has killed more people than you'll be able to count, but he somehow hasn't been caught yet, even though he just roams around different cities as he wants" she lets out a sigh before taking her hands off of Miles’ shoulders before quickly changing the subject with a smile:"Well, do you prefer the white, red or golden candles?"
When they all finally came back from the market, it was already time for dinner. As Miles scanned over their dining room, he decided to sit next to Laura, who went in to eat before him:”Hey Laura”
“Hi Miles” she greeted him, trying to cover up her worry with a smile. “How’s it going with the preparations?” she asked, continuing to eat her mashed potatoes while reaching to put some on Miles’ plate from the bowl in front of her.
“Thank you. And it’s going quite well, the only thing left is the last couple tables, chairs and candles. Let me guess, the kitchen is pure chaos?” he chuckled, remembering her complaints about it on the way to the market.
They laughed about it for a few seconds, the worried look lot leaving Laura's face.
”About the market, though,” she said after a few seconds. She looked nervous, just like Collones when she talked to him about the weird man, so Miles was already pretty sure about what she was going to say:”Is it about that weird man? Laura, I promise I’m alright, and Collones already told me to be careful. I get it, that man is dangerous-” he was cut off by Laura slamming the table in anger.
“Clearly you don’t! If you actually took her warning seriously, you wouldn’t be walking around as if nothing happened! You would’ve been more careful!” She paused for a few seconds. She lightly put her hand on his, before continuing in a softer tone:”Look, I may not have known you for a very long time, but I don’t want you to get hurt. Especially not by that guy.”
