The forbidden

Bracelets

Bracelets

Oct 09, 2023

While all these were going on, Celine was busy filming the so called scene that director Chris talked about. Her phone was not with her, so she didn't know someone had been trying to reach her, but then something happened.

The scene was being acted not far from the ocean, and there came a time when Celine turned to face the ocean. That was when she saw a blue tail in the ocean. She knew the tail couldn't belong to a fish, so that could only mean it belonged to either Aeugeus or Axle.

She didn't need to stress her brain, trying to guess who it could be as the owner of the tail's face was revealed. That face that looked identical to Luca's, and that blue hair could only belong to one person.

"Axle!!!" Celine screamed like a crazy person, running straight for the ocean.

Axle who had heard a human shouting his name, was terrified out of his mind. How did she know his name? What was going on? Those were the thoughts going through his head.

The crew were shocked at Celine's display. What she was doing wasn't part of the script, which made them worry for her as they ran to stop her from going further into the water.

But ofcourse, Celine didn't make it easy for them. She fought with all her might to be free from their grasp while screaming with tears streaming down her face, "Let go of me! I want to go to my son. Axle!! It's your mother, I'm coming to get you. Axle!!!"

Axle whose name was being called, was hiding behind a rock, but he couldn't stop himself from peeping at the strange human. He felt his heart break, seeing the woman in pain.

Celine kept causing a scene until the manager of the beach house that had been looking everywhere for her, finally found her.

"Miss Celine! There has been a problem. Your son was found unconscious by the shore. We believe he might have drowned, before his body got swept to the shore.

Celine paused in her movements with her blood running cold. "Te-tell me you are joking. What... what did you say happened to Luca?!"

"He has been rushed to the clinic, where he is being.."

Celine couldn't handle all the emotions and so she passed out before he could finish talking. She was quickly carried away and taken to the same clinic Luca was being attended to.

Everything happened in front of Axle's eyes, and what he understood from what he heard them say was that the boy he saved was the woman's son and the boy's name was Luca, but what he didn't understand was how she knew his name and was even calling him her son.

At first he chose to believe she mistook him for her son, but then if that were true then why hadn't she called him Luca? Instead, she had called him by his real name.

He only got a break from his thoughts when he saw a bracelet in Fiona's mouth. He took the bracelet and saw that it was identical to the one he had on his wrist. The difference was that his name was written on the other bracelet, while the the letters L-U-C-A was written on his own.

"It must have fallen from the human's wrist." Said Fiona.

Axle's eyes widened in shock. "How is it that my name is written on the bracelet of the human? Do you think the words on my bracelet is pronounced as Luca?"

"Don't ask me. I don't know how to read and write." Fiona replied.

"I'm sure the King must knows something." Said Axle with a serious expression, and with that said, he dived into the ocean, swimming at a fast pace with Luca's bracelet in his palm.
...

Luca was taken care of and successfully brought out of danger, but he was yet to wake up.

Celine was yet to recover from the events of the day. Her mother (Mrs Payne) and Pamela already arrived at the clinic and met her in a horrible state. Thinking that she was only scared for Luca, they tried comforting her, reminding her that the doctor said Luca was doing fine.

Celine wasn't even listening to them, she was  lost in her head. Life had been so unfair. She had always tried her best to avoid think about that, but she just couldn't anymore.

She regretted ever meeting Aegeus, she regretted falling in love with him, and she regretted doing the forbidden with him. Because of their forbidden love, she had had to go through different levels of pain which she didn't know existed.

Having to give birth to a child and not being able to be present in that child's life. Not being able to watch your child grow coupled with the fact that the child doesn't know you exist.

She hated and blamed Aegeus for choosing to be a king rather than to be a husband to her and a father to Luca. She hated him for separating her from Axle and most of all, for separating the twins.

She had been stricken with guilt about not telling Luca about his father and about him having an identical twin brother, but how the hell was she supposed to tell a eight year old boy that his father and brother were fantasy sea creatures, while he was human alongside her.

Mrs. Payne couldn't think of anything else to say that could pacify her daughter, so she decided to distract her. "I heard from Chris that you went out on a date with him. Do you finally see yourself having a future with him?"

Celine was in no mood for such a topic, so she brushed it off with a few words. "In your dreams. I've told you time and again that I don't love him. I only went out with him because I pitied him. He has been trying his hardest to get my attention."

A minute before that time, Luca had awoken. He couldn't remember anything for a moment, but it all later dawned on him. He had fallen into the ocean and drowned.

Remembering how it happened, it terrified him so much. "Mommy!" He yelled as he got off from the bed, and ran out of the room in search of her.

It just so happened that he stumbled upon Celine's reply to his grandmother's question, but he didn't get there earlier to hear the question that was asked, so he misunderstood her.

His blood boiled while hearing those words. She didn't love him and only pitied him? Then why did she give birth to him? Those where the thoughts running through his head.

Celine, her mother and Pamela weren't aware of this. They were in the waiting room, while Luca was on the outside, standing next to the door with his presence unnoticed. He later angrily left there while sobbing.

A nurse saw him crying and thought he was looking for his family. She told him to go back to his ward, and that she was going to get them to go see him, but he ignored her, so she went to the waiting room to inform his family that Luca was awake and was probably looking for them.

Celine hurriedly stood up and ran out of the room. The nurse pointed to where Luca was, and Celine went to him, enveloping him in a tight hug, but his reaction shocked her.

"Let go of me! Don't touch me and stay away from me! I told you I could cope without your love, but then you gave me false hope. You insisted that you loved me, but it was all a lie." He felt so hurt that he was shouting at the top of his voice, getting some unwanted attention. "If you don't love me, then take me to my dad. I want my daddy!"

Mrs Payne and Pamela already got to them and they were both surprised to see such a scene, and to hear such words from Luca.

Mrs Payne held Luca and said, "What's going on? Why are you saying those things?" She then faced the nurse and asked, "Does drinking of water from the ocean make a person act abnormal?"

Luca didn't let the nurse answer the question, as he wasn't done with his tantrum. "From now on, I will be be living with grandma. I won't be in the way of your job anymore. I HATE YOU!"

Mrs Payne gasped in shock and quickly covered Luca's mouth. "Oh my God! Luca! Don't ever say that you your mom. Pamela, take him away." She scolded him and handed him over to Pamela who carried him on her shoulder and took him away.

Celine broke into tears. She had never in her life thought that she would be bad as a parent to the extent that her child would hate her. Luca had always been a good little boy, but because of her negligence, she had pushed him to the wall.

She was always thinking about Axle and Augeus and it was so painful. So in order to temporarily forget everything and get rid of the pain, she always got herself busy with work without taking out time to rest. That was why she barely had time to hang out with Luca. Besides, looking at Luca's face reminded her of those she wanted to forget.

She cursed herself in the head. There was no bad name she didn't call her. She wished she could turn back the hands of time and correct all of her mistakes. She promised the heavens that if they could just do her that favour, she would happily live her life with Luca as if Augeus and Axle never existed.

Who was she kidding? She knew what's done is done, and that time machines only existed in the movies. She could only try to correct her mistakes and hope it wasn't too late to mend her relationship with Luca.
...

Axle got to Atlantica earlier than he thought he would. What he didn't know was that he subconsciously made the waters push him forward. His mind was too occupied to notice.

Axle made his way to the palace. The celebrations were still ongoing, but on a low key.

He avoided everyone and went straight to his chamber. He then looked at the bracelet he had in his palm for a while before hiding it in a place his father couldn't think of. Not that his father usually searched his room, but you could never know, so it's only expected that he'd be careful.

He suddenly felt a presence in his chambers, and that made him frown. He wasn't ready to face his father as of yet.

"Where did you go? You didn't let your royal guards excort you, and you weren't with your friend." Augeus said while staring at his son's backside.

Axle faced his father with a smile on his face. "Nowhere, father." He said while moving closer to his father, then he showed him his wrist. "I've been curious. How is the word on my bracelet pronounced?"

Augeus was taken aback by that question, but he later brushed it off as nothing more than his son being curious. He smiled while staring at the bracelet. His smile reached his eyes which was an unusual sight, and it didn't go unnoticed by Axle.

"It is pronounced as 'Luca'." Augeus answered honestly.

Axle nodded and said, "I see." then there was a brief silence before he asked a question he used to avoid asking. "Who is my mother?"

Augeus didn't see that coming. He opened his mouth, but no words came out of them. After a while, he was able to get his voice back. "Why are you suddenly asking me that?"

Axle shrugged and replied, "Because I deserve to know, or don't I?"

That was another shock to Augeus. Axle was naturally sharp tongued, but he was always the opposite in the presence of his father.

Augeus couldn't find the right words to end the topic, while on the other hand, Axle didn't know how to feel.

"Wasn't she a mermaid?" Axle asked with a straight face.

That was the third shock in a row for Augeus, and he got pissed. Not at Axle, but at himself for being tongue-tied.

He could have easily chosen to be selfish by choosing his family over Atlantica, but he felt responsible and guilty for the attack that befell the sea creatures years ago, so he decided to correct his wrongs by choosing to stay behind with Axle.

"Please, that's enough. We won't discuss this again." Augeus finally said something.

Axle smiled stiffly, and said, "Alright. You can leave now, I would like to rest."

Augeus' lips formed a thin line as he gave his son one last look before leaving his room. On getting outside, he let out a heavy sigh. "That kid definitely knows something, but what?"

A/N: In the next chapter, the twins would no longer be children. The story is just starting, guys! Stay tuned.
