"You guys!" exclaimed Alo, her eyes shining with excitement.
"Tch, Alo...!" Rup exclaimed, jesting a frustrated expression, "You should say 'Abhoy dear...' or something like that... you know,"
I burst out laughing, in reaction to his small act...
"He never changes...!" I commented, switching glances between Alo and Abhoy,
Alo slowly pulled her hand up and then waved at Abhoy, wearing an adorable smile on her face.
"Ha ha..." Rup expressed, pushing Abhoy into motion. Abhoy continued jogging forward making use of that momentum and then, he very unexpectedly pulled Alo into his ensnaring embrace, on reaching her.
Alo's cheeks quickly turned red in response to his touch of affection...!
"Now... now," she whispered, her voice tainted with a youthful blush, "We were always interacting online..."
Rup came walking slowly towards me, "Isn't it strange how seeing the two of them together feels oddly complete...?" he asked, adjusting his umbrella.
"Yeah," I answered, "It's almost as if they are married..."
"Feels good, you know... I was almost about to die of boredom sitting at home. Good thing the college faculties decided to open up at the last minute," Rup whispered, smiling at me.
"Umm..." It took me a while to process the stuff that he said.
It was kind of unusual for Rup to say that, mostly because the focal points of his life revolved around sitting at home and gaming.
Acting quite indifferent to his confusing statement, I replied, "Same bro," consoling him.
Soon there was a high pitched horn, following which the train slowly arrived at the platform. After tackling the usual formalities of boarding the train on a rainy day and finding ourselves a somewhat vacant place from amongst the crowded passages of our coach, we assembled together continuing with our reunion,
"Oi Dhriti, when were you gonna take us on a treat again?" asked Abhoy, with a michievious grin,
"Oh yes, it had almost slipped my mind!" added Rup,
Alo too nodded in agreement, wearing an imp expression.
"Stop it guys," I replied, hesitantly, in a dire attempt to defend my wallet, "The royalty we are getting right now is not even sufficient to spend on our equipments and stuff..."
"Equipments...?Seriously!?" exclaimed Rup in awe. "Don't you guys work digitally?"
"Heh heh," smirked Alo, "Now that's what you call bluffing."
"Sheesh... okay, we will see about the treat" I replied, trying to abandon the losing battle,
"That's more like it!" Abhoy exclaimed with enthusiasm, exchanging a hearty clap with Rup. While the three of them continued to giggle, I stood there, savoring the nostalgic conversations.
For a moment, my excitement washed out into the heavy external ambience. The ability to converse freely after such a long time, unburdened by any lingering sense of responsibility, was nothing short of exhilarating.
I moved a little closer to the door.
As the train sped through the drizzle, tiny droplets of water lightly grazed my cheek, adding a refreshing sensation to the atmosphere.
While staring at the blurry ambience of the railroads, the atmospheric chaos slowly gave in to the sound of my memories...
It was like I was standing in front of a transparent mirror, which was reflecting the past over my present. I found myself lost once again amid the multitude of moments that made up my reality. Walking past various memorable instants from over the past three years, I suddenly stumbled upon it; yes, that was the exact feeling I had been unknowingly searching for— the feeling of the first day of my college.
As of late whenever I sit with my laptop to work on this novel, I get submerged into this really good feeling of longing❤️🔥
