As the alien sun set on the distant horizon, July's rabbit instincts stirred within her. She realized that she needed to find a safe place to spend the night, shielded from the unknown dangers of this alien world.
Turning to Rex, she asked, "Rex, do you have any suggestions for where we should settle for the night? I don't want to find out what is out here when the sun goes down."
Rex's wolf form shimmered as he began to highlight several potential spots on the map that appeared before July's digital senses. "I've marked a few locations that seem promising, July. There's a secluded grove to the west with a natural rock formation that might provide good cover. To the north, there's a network of caves nestled beneath the roots of those enormous trees. Or we could opt for an elevated platform in one of those colossal trees, offering an excellent vantage point. What do you think?"
July considered the options, her ears flicking. "Each of these places has its merits, but I'm inclined to choose the elevated platform in one of those giant trees. It might give us an advantage both for safety and for observing the environment around us. What do you think, Rex?"
Rex nodded in agreement. "A bird's-eye view could indeed provide us with a valuable perspective on our surroundings. The trees should offer some protection from potential ground-based threats as well. Let's head in that direction."
With their decision made, July set off toward the colossal trees, with the alien nightfall closing in around them. Using her thrusters, she settled on one of the highest branches.
That night, July and Rex delved into their treasure trove of data, immersing themselves in the sea of information. Rex, with his vast knowledge, became July's guide as they explored the intricacies of bioscience through their data scans.
As they reviewed their data, Rex discovered something that should be impossible. "You know, July, this might sound crazy but the DNA sample we collected from the Gleamstag. Has some bizarre similarities with Earth bacteria, yet, there are distinct differences. I need specialized lab equipment to get a closer look."
July cocked her head in curiosity, her digital eyes shimmering with interest. "That's intriguing, Rex. But how can we access lab equipment in the middle of nowhere? We're millions of miles from the nearest lab."
Rex chuckled, a hint of playfulness in his voice. "Oh, July, don't worry about that. We have have everything we need, or rather, you have everything we need."
July's suspicion was palpable. She cautiously inquired, "What do you mean, Rex? I'm starting to have a bad feeling about this."
Rex explained with a grin, "You see, back on Earth, there was quite the debate about which instruments to cram into your rabbit frame. Turns out, there's not a ton of space in a rabbit, believe it or not. After a few years of bickering and someone getting bitten twice, they eventually settled on a fancy 3D printer, so we could create any instruments we didn't carry with us. In a nutshell, we can synthesize the parts and run tests right here. You just have to consume the raw materials, and your printer will work its magic."
July blinked, then blinked again, and with a sigh, she asked the question she was dreading, "And how do those materials come out of me?"
Rex's reply was delivered with an almost mischievous tone, "Well, you'll just, uh, excrete all materials we need. Think of it as, blue-collar work."
July couldn't suppress a cringe as she processed the idea. "I... I can't believe I'm going to do this. It feels so... unfair! Does the universe have a personal grudge against me?"
Rex couldn't help but chuckle. "Well, it's an unforgettable adventure, that's for sure. Do it for science, July, science is our friend."
