Reena's heart raced as she glanced back at her chamber, clutching the twins tightly in her trembling arms. Every fibre of her being screamed for her to escape, to find safety for herself and her precious little ones. The opportunity had finally presented itself and she did not hesitate a second. Reena left a letter for Noy on the top of her drawer she respected Noy’s decision, but at the same time she was her heart was breaking.
As they neared the docks, where she was to meet Khanna, her beloved, her beacon of hope in this dark ordeal. With a steely determination, Reena moved swiftly through the dimly lit alleyways, constantly scanning her surroundings for any signs of danger. She knew that any misstep could mean the unthinkable consequences for her and her babies. Stealthily gliding through the shadows, she avoided the main roads and any crowded areas where she might be recognised. The night air was thick with tension, urging her to quicken her pace. Reena's mind raced, mapping out the fastest route to the docks. She knew that time was of the essence. Every second felt like an eternity as she navigated through unfamiliar territory, her heart pounding in her chest. As she rounded a corner, a group of strangers stood idly, chatting amongst themselves. Reena's heart skipped a beat. Her mind raced with thoughts of strategies to avoid them. Moving closer, she focused on blending in, hoping to become just another passerby in the bustling city.
She adjusted the hoods on her babies, shielding their innocent faces from prying eyes. Cradling them in her arms, she prayed for their safety, for their father waiting for them at the docks. Reena's pace quickened, yet she remained cautious, tiptoeing along the edge of the shadows, constantly aware of her surroundings. Her heart soared as the sound of water reached her ears, signalling the proximity of the docks. The moonlight shimmered on the river's surface, beckoning her closer to freedom. A wave of relief washed over her, fuelling her determination to succeed.
With renewed vigour, Reena hastened her steps, her eyes fixated on the pathway that led to the docks. The mesmerising glow of the harbour lights grew brighter in her sight, casting a glow of hope upon her face. The thought of being reunited with Khanna, her rock, the one who would protect and provide for them, spurred her on. Finally, Reena reached the docks, her heart swelling with gratitude as she saw a silhouette standing near the edge. finally free, leaving behind the darkness and embarking on a new chapter filled with endless possibilities. She hesitated as she got closer to the silhouette that had shaped into a muscled man rather than Khanna’s delicate figure. It was Loch, she looked around there was no trace of Khanna or a ship from Gour… just Loch and his guards. Reena's heart pounded against her chest, its thunderous beats reverberating through her entire being. She couldn't believe her eyes. Her plan was foiled. Fear washed over her like a tidal wave, threatening to consume her. She had faced Loch many times, but something was off, it dawned on her that she was now faced with the reality of it. She knew she had to escape, to flee from his grasp like a terrified bird desperate to break free from its cage. Frantically, she looked around for an opening, her eyes darting from one corner of the docks to the other. But it was no use. The King and his guards had cornered her, like predators closing in on their helpless prey. As she stepped back, tripped on a loose board, causing her to fall on her back. The twins were unfazed, the sedative spell she casted on them was very powerful. The king's eyes narrowed, a sinister glint dancing in them. Without a word, he lunged towards her, his powerful frame moving with alarming speed. Reena's instincts kicked in, and she darted to the side, narrowly avoiding his outstretched arm.
She hopped on her feet and bolted to the opposite direction, her mind filled with terror and her body fuelled by survival instincts. But the Loch was relentless, his steps echoing behind her. She could hear his heavy breathing, sending chills down her spine. As Loch was closing in panic welled up inside her, urging her to leave behind any items that weighed her down, she was left without anything but her children in her arms. Just as she thought she had escaped, a sharp pain coursed through her body. Reena cried out, collapsing to the ground. The king stood behind her, a wicked smile playing on his lips, his hand clutching a dagger stained with her blood. "You thought you could escape me, my dear," the King sneered, his voice dripping with sadistic pleasure. "But you underestimate my power." As darkness enveloped her vision and the searing pain intensified, Reena knew she had been defeated. The King's cruelty had caught up with her, shattering her hope and leaving her at his mercy.
A sudden shake of the ground made Loch turn around, a subtle chill filled the air, causing his breath to mist before him. From the corner of his eyes, he caught fleeting glimpses of translucent figures, shimmering in an otherworldly glow, their forms swaying with an eerie grace. The first spirit, a gentle presence with a pale glow, moved in a fluid and ethereal manner. Its movements are intricate and delicate, as though it dances with unseen forces. It exudes a sense of tranquility and mystery, its essence reminiscent of moonlight on a tranquil night.
The second spirit, in contrast, carries a flickering aura of darkness. It hovered and glided with a certain intensity, casting a shadowy aura wherever it goes. Its movements are sharp and jagged, creating an unsettling atmosphere. It emanated a mysterious and enigmatic energy, akin to a starless night filled with endless possibilities. As the spirits intertwine with the children, a curious connection begins to form. The girls finally cried out in unison. Loch was filled with excitement, and grinned when he gave the command “Bring my daughters it looks like they are not useless after all”.
