Ki sits in defeat. Myla starts to clean up the table. "Why are girls so different? They used to rely on me for everything," said Ki. "They are grown-ups, they can be who they want to be," said Tae. "Son, they are young women in need of guidance. The world we live in is not safe. They need protection from others." said Ki to his youngest. "Tae, don't get involved in a grownup's conversation. It's bad manners to get involved in others' business," said Myla. "But they are my sisters, not some stranger. They deserve to be heard and understood. And loved for knowing who they are." said Tae. "We live in a cruel world where being different can't get you killed, or worse. They can't be different!... Xio can't be different. She can't be a man. She was born a woman." said Myla. Kai just sat there in silence and began eating in peace. Tae questioned why his parents were thinking in such a negative way.
Jini rushed to catch up to her sister. "Why are you following me? Just be a good girl and follow orders," said Xio. "You were right, they would never accept us for being different. Can I go with you?" Jini said. Xio opens her bedroom door, and they both head inside. Jini sits on her sister's bed. They don't speak... Jini is waiting for her sister to calm down. Xio sniffles and she gets some tissues. "Why do the people who love and care for you, disappoint you the most?" said Xio.
Muffled buzzing...buzz...buzz...
Xio goes to the pillow bag she packed and gets the phone. Jini lifts her head and sees Xio smiling. "This is wonderful. Jini, are you willing to leave? Will you leave everything and everyone behind? So, you can have the freedom to love and be who you truly are. Will you be willing to leave Toni, whom you love, behind?" said Xio. "I don't know. Toni is my first love. She means everything to me. I don't think I could leave her here with her strict mother and father." said Jini.
Buzz...
Xio gets another message. "Jini, you have to tell me whether you are going to come with me or not," said Xio. "I don't know. I need to talk with Toni first. Can you please wait till I come back?" said Jini. Jini rushes off to see Toni. As Jini leaves, Xio goes to Jini's room. She pulls out an empty pillowcase bag and starts to pack her sister's things.
Myla finished picking up their plates and putting the leftovers away. She was waiting on Kai to finish his plate. "Mom go with father on a walk. Try to cheer him up. I will make sure to check Tae's homework." said Kai. "Thank you, son, leave the plate on the table. I will call someone over to clean it up for you," said Myla. Ki and Myla go outside for a walk. Kai leaves his plate on the table and heads out with Tae. They walk in silence to Tae's room.
As they enter, Kai grabs Tae's arm and twists it back. "What do you do now?" said Kai to his brother. "You haven't been doing your homework," said Kai. Tae tries to get his arm untwisted. "Stop...stop doing that, you will break your arm," said Kai. Kai lets go of Tae's arm. "I think that's enough, next time try using your legs or the available arm to-," said Kai before being interrupted. "Thanks, but no, thanks, this isn't the type of homework other kids get. Even if they are homeschooled like us," said Tae. "Bro do you think it's normal? Do you think we are a normal family?" said Tae. "I don't know how others are raised, but I think we are lucky in the sense that we are together and have things. Such as food, parents, clothes, and a home. Sure, our education is very strict, and we are not allowed to be with outsiders. But... at least we have something...somewhere we can call home." said Kai. "I know that we don't have to worry about those things, but what our sisters feel is also true. We aren't free. I know that I am the youngest but our sisters are older than us, but they are adults. They should be free to decide how to live. Our home is too controlled and different." said Tae.
(As the Rue brothers were discussing, this was happening....)
Jini rushes to where Toni is staying, the 6th division family at the Rue compound. Jini heads to the entrance of the 6th division family. Which is near the entrance to the compound. As Jini enters, Toni's division head maid bows to Jini and offers something for her to drink but Jini declines. "Thank you, but I am not thirsty. I need to talk to Toni... in private," said Jini. Toni and Jini head to the garden.
"I love you," said Jini. "I love you too...what is wrong?" said Toni. Jini explains what happened with her sister and tells Toni what her plans are (5 mins pass). "Do you want to leave?" said Toni. "I do but... I want you to leave with me. We both could be free from our parents. Free to be together." said Jini. "My father... if he ever finds out... who I am... what we are," said Toni. "Toni, I will protect you, we will be together and away from The Nation of Fia away from the Families. Our parents don't have power in other countries, especially in East countries," said Jini. "I need my passport and ID book first," said Toni. Toni looks for both back at the 6th division and Jini is waiting for her near the entrance of the 6th division.
Ki and Myla went on a walk in the backyard. Ki liked taking long strolls, it helped him think. Myla always joined him. The silence was pleasing to both of them. Ki stops and heads to the greenhouse as he remembers he had to do something in there. Before entering the greenhouse he sees a sunflower roughly planted outside next to the wildflowers. They head inside the greenhouse.
(Back to the brothers...)
"... Our parents do what they think is best for the Family. All we can do is learn from them and do things better... Let's just support our sisters quietly." said Kai. "Okay, I guess but I hope they know that no matter what our parents...the Family thinks we... I got their back," said Tae.
Kai heads to his room.
