Chapter 9: Revealing everything

Chapter 9: Revealing everything

Oct 19, 2023

I quickly get out of my car and rush inside the house, only to find Chizuki's body levitating in the air, a scene that leaves me shocked and concerned about her safety.

But that doesn't seem to be the case for Jun or Ayumi.

"What are you doing recording her instead of trying to get her down?" I ask Jun, expressing my frustration with the situation.

"You too, stop recording already!" I shout at Ayumi, emphasizing the need for immediate action rather than recording the unusual scene.

"Calm down, she's not falling or anything. Also, I can't fly and get her back down, so instead, I'm recording this to show to Chizuki later," Ayumi explains, trying to maintain composure and provide a reason for her actions.

"Hey, Chizuki, get down here! Can you hear me?!" I call out to her, attempting to communicate with her while she's suspended in the air.

Chizuki heeds my call and descends, returning to the floor. The unusual levitation comes to an end, leaving me relieved but still perplexed by the situation.

"I left because of your nagging, and you're back again? Huh, what are you, my wife?" Akako retorts, displaying her exasperation and the tension between the two of us.

"I don't care what you say, but you can't do things like this with Chizuki's body," I assert, expressing my concerns about the use of Chizuki's body by Akako and the potential risks involved.

"It's also mine, and stop recording me already!" Akako exclaims, demonstrating her control over the situation by forcibly throwing the phones out of Ayumi and Jun's hands, causing them to crash into the wall.

"My phone, it's totally broken," Ayumi checks her damaged device, realizing the extent of the damage caused by Akako's actions.

"Why are you getting violent with us? You said you were a peaceful spirit," Jun questions, expressing his confusion and concern about the sudden change in Akako's behavior.

"I never said that, and you're the ones disturbing me constantly," Akako retorts, further emphasizing her frustration with the situation and her lack of patience with us.

"Get Chizuki back, we don't need you here," Eito adds, making it clear that they want Chizuki's well-being to be the top priority and that Akako's presence is unwelcome.

The house starts shaking abruptly, causing everyone inside to feel the sudden movement and adding an even more intense level of tension to the already chaotic situation.

"Is it an earthquake?" Ayumi adds, expressing concern and uncertainty as the house continues to shake.

Akako's presence seems ominous as her dark silhouette contrasts against her long, billowing hair that dances in the air.

"Remember, the only reason you are standing in one piece right now is only because Chizuki cares about you," Akako says before Chizuki's body falls down on the floor and the house stops shaking.

Everyone immediately rushes to check on Chizuki and helps her off the floor, expressing concern for her well-being after the sudden fall.

"I couldn't speak a word to her because of the tension in the air. It felt like if I spoke again..." Jun adds, expressing the stifling atmosphere that has enveloped the group during these bizarre events.

"She said that it was because of Chizuki that we are not hurt. Does she really care about her?" Ayumi adds, pondering Akako's motives and the relationship between Akako and Chizuki.

"It could be because she possesses her body," Eito adds, offering a possible explanation for Akako's apparent concern for Chizuki.

"She's certainly more than a mere ghost," Ayumi remarks.

Chizuki opens her eyes, regaining consciousness after the ordeal, and her presence is a significant relief to the group, who had been deeply concerned about her well-being.

"I'm back here. Wasn't I in the cafe?" Chizuki questions, getting up to find everyone staring at her in silence, making the situation even more bewildering.

Chizuki starts to wonder why no one is saying anything, and the silence in the room is becoming unsettling. The thought crosses her mind that Akako might have resurfaced.

Chizuki, noticing the broken phone on the floor, becomes increasingly anxious. In her distress, she rushes upstairs and locks herself in the bedroom.

"Wait, Chizuki, open the door. Let's talk it out," Ayumi knocks on the door, rushing behind Chizuki in an attempt to stop her from isolating herself and to have a conversation about the recent events.

"Just leave me alone for now," Chizuki answers, making it clear that she needs some time and space to process everything that has happened.

"I'll be waiting for you here, so please do come out when you feel better," Ayumi assures Chizuki, understanding her need for solitude and offering her support.

"Maybe it wasn't a good idea to do this," Eito says to Ayumi outside the door, expressing doubt about their involvement in these mysterious and dangerous events.

---

I can still hear them can they go talk somewhere else?

Chizuki covers her ears.

I don't want to hear anything about it, I don't want to know I hurt them without wanting to.

Chizuki falls deeper in her despair the more she thinks about it.

"I'm sorry it won't happen again" Chizuki hears a voice in her head.

'Who's voice is this? It's not coming from the room or outside.'

"Akako" the voice in Chizuki's head whispers.

'Akako? It's her? I'm not hallucinating right?'

'I can't tell what's real or not anymore.'

"Let's talk"

'No I don't want to, go away.'

"Chizuki you have to acknowledge me."

"STOP!" CHIZUKI SHOUTS.

Ayumi knocks on the door, concerned for Chizuki's well-being. She pleads, "Chizuki, are you okay? What's wrong? Open the door for a second, please," hoping to reach out to her Chizuki.

---

"Where am I? I can't see anything."

'Your in your conscious right now.'

"It's you again? Leave me alone please."

'Leaving it like this won't do anything, You have to acknowledge my existence.'

"Why are you doing this to me?"

'I didn't mean to scare you like this Chizuki.'

"What do you want from me? Can't you just leave me alone?"

'I can't do that you and I exist together, I can't exist without you.'

"What are you talking about?"

'You and me were destined to be together.'

"Your not making any sense!"

'I won't be able to explain anything to you if you don't acknowledge my being.'

"How can I.. do that?"

'You have to accept the fact that you and I exist together and that I am also real.'

"I'll try to if you promise to not hurt any of them again."

'I won't do it again, I apologize Chizuki.'

"If you could talk to me like this, Why didn't you do this before?"

'I have tried to, But I failed all those times it only worked this time.'

"What are you? A ghost?"

'I don't know either, But I am just as real as you are Chizuki.'

"I can't understand what you mean by that."

'I'll try explaining a little better next time.'

"Why not explain now?"

'Seems like this is all the time we got.'

---

"Chizuki, wake up!" Ayumi's urgent voice called out.

"Should we call an ambulance?" Jun's concerned voice inquired.

I slowly opened my eyes, gradually adjusting to the light, and could make out everyone's concerned expressions.

"She's awake," Eito announced.

"What happened? How did you all get in?" I inquired, noticing myself on the bed, surrounded by them.

"We had to break the lock. I was so worried," Ayumi said as she quickly hugged me.

"I'm sorry for worrying and hurting you all," I said in a somber tone.

"Just worry about yourself; we don't have any spirits possessing us," Jun reassured.

Eito is usually quiet right now. I wonder what he's thinking.

"You don't have to do all this for me. I'll take care of it myself, so let's go back," I insisted, not wanting to burden anyone with my problems.

Jun looks at Eito and he avoids his gaze.

They are definitely tired of me, I mean I would be too.

"Are you sure about this?" Ayumi inquired, her concern evident.

---

We packed up our belongings, and everyone returned to their homes that night, leaving me alone in my dorm room.

"I should have never asked for Eito's or anyone's help in the first place," I said aloud, expressing my regret.

Eito seemed like he would never talk to me again.

"But am I really alone here? Akako, you're still with me, right?"

There is no response. She told me to acknowledge her presence to know more about her. Should I try to believe in her?

Akako, I know you're here with me. Can you hear me?

"No response again."

Chizuki moves over to her desk and retrieves her diary from the drawer.

"I'll write down some questions I want to ask you, Akako. So, when you, um, come back, could you please answer them in the diary for me?"

Who am I talking to? I sigh opening my diary.

The last time I wrote in my diary was on October 5th, I believe.

"There it is, October 5th. I wrote a lot that day. Wait, there's more. What did I write after that?"

[Thursday 6-Oct-2022
Dear diary,

Today was quite fun. Eito wanted the same shoes, and Ayumi also liked them. They definitely looked good. But Eito shouldn't have done that. I'm almost not sure if I want to anymore, and I'll make sure to protect my face. Let's go to sleep in the bed now. Good night.

Friday 7-Oct-2022
Dear diary,

It seemed like Chizuki was quite upset about the situation with Eito. I'm always here to support you, Chizuki. Do you truly desire a mansion? I bought you a coat because you mentioned needing one for winter. As for the mansion, it's a long-term goal that will take some days to achieve. In the meantime, feel free to ask if you need anything.

Saturday 8-Oct-2022
Dear diary,

I notice you're eager to catch something, so I'll leave the recorder alone this time. However, how could you consider putting the coat up for sale? It wasn't easy to acquire, and red coats are the best, Chizuki. You might not understand.]

"These... I didn't write these. Was it you, Akako?"

Who am I talking it again.

"What do you mean by this? You're not actually getting me a mansion, are you?"

"And you were the one who took down my post about selling the coat, weren't you?"

"Does she really care about me? She listens to me every time I ask her something."

'Chizuki' I hear a voice in my head again.

"It's you, Akako?"

"I finally got it. It's so difficult to talk to you like this." Akako says in my mind.

"Akako, you didn't actually get me a mansion, did you? I wasn't being serious at that time."

"I did, though. I finalized the purchase last night, yesterday." Akako can't be serious right now.

"Why would you do that? How did you actually manage it? I don't have that kind of money."

"I bought it with my own money, of course. It's a gift, so just take it as my way of repaying you for using your body."

"That makes it even worse. Please return it or something; I don't want it."

"I can't do that; it's yours now."

"Why are you being so stubborn about this? And about using my body, what did you do with my leg?"

"About that, you are right. I did accidentally slam it into a wall."

"How do you accidentally slam your leg into a wall?" I am so confused right now.

"Well, I wanted to check how sturdy the walls of the mansion were."

"So it was on purpose, not an accident?"

"It is an accident; I didn't know you were this weak."

"What did you expect from my human body slamming into the wall?"

"I'll keep that in mind for next time. If only you'd just accept me, my powers would all return."

"Powers? You have superpowers?"

"Hello? Akako?"

She's not responding now.
