The Last Dragon Keeper

17- Wild wild berries

17- Wild wild berries

Oct 26, 2023

Elwyn sighed loudly. He thought that Sasha was at an age where she needed to go out and experience new things and that there should be people with her along the way, but not to supervise her, just to accompany her. The elf understood that feeling, that craving for adventures since he clearly remembers wanting the same thing when he was around her age. One thing the angel wasn't able to comprehend was that by keeping Sasha locked up in a golden cage, The girl would eventually get fed up with Lysandra

While thinking to himself, Elwyn made his way to Sasha's house.
The ground was covered in sand and, in the sand, were long trails that stopped in front of Sasha's window, as if a creature sled across the ground like a snake and then vanished into thin air. He raised his eyebrow but quickly brushed it off. He would come back to inspect it later. He knocked on Sasha's door 3 times then waited patiently with his hands in his pockets. He thought to himself that it was still early and that maybe the girl hadn't woken up yet.

Suddenly, he heard a loud bang coming from inside the house and objects clattering and crashing. He tried to get ahold of the doorknob but, at this exact moment, the door flew open. The young girl was standing in the doorway, her dark auburn hair looking like a bird's nest.

"Ahahah, sorry about that, apologized Sasha awkwardly. I just woke up and while trying to grab the bedside table, my hand slipped and it collapsed on the ground, she explained frantically while rubbing her slightly scratched front arm."

Elwyn raised his head and peeked inside. The furniture, the plants and all the knickknacks were all pitifully lying on the ground behind her.

"Do you mind me coming in and helping you clean this mess? He asked politely. I think you might need a hand, or two, and also two perfectly fine legs, he said mockingly while pointing to the girl's injured leg.  I bet that it's not very useful right now."

She laughed.

"Well, you're not entirely wrong.

Sasha moved out of the way and let Elwyn in.

"When we're done here, we'll go visit the valley with Manta and Merlin. We might as well enjoy the scenery since we'll be here for a longer time than anticipated, the elf jokingly said."

"Yeah, I get it. Wait, she stopped. How do you know about Merlin?! Sasha asked him, confused."

Elwyn who was already in the house, picking up stuff from the ground turned to face her and winked while holding up a finger to his lips.

"Ah! It's a secret! he replied playfully."

"PFT come one that's not fair tell me! Sasha complained."

They laughed together ( well, Elwyn laughed at Sasha's pout, and she joined him). Minutes later, they finished packing their bags for their small adventure.
"Ready? asked the elf while leaving the house."

"Always ready! Sasha replied with energy."

"Ahah, that's the spirit! Elwyn chuckled. Hey, have you seen Manta anywhere?"

"Hum no-"

"Mfff! Help! get me out, human!"

Those were the muffled-up screams of the Etomanian. Manta was stuck in Sasha's saddlebag, Merlin holding her tightly between his large paws.

"Oh no, Merlin! Let go of the little pest, she's suffocating."

"EXCUSE ME?! Manta squealed when she heard what Sasha just said about her."

Manta jumped out of the bag and the young girl tried to waddle away as fast as her injured leg allowed her to while giggling uncontrollably. Elwyn, yet again left behind, desperately tried to keep up with the two girls.

"Oh sweet Adall, more running! he said, helpless."

Sasha continued running away even if Manta had stopped following her for a while now. She looked back expecting to see the Etomanian but didn't and fell right into a berry bush. The berries Immediately started screaming and a pair of legs and arms holding sharp sticks. They hissed at Sasha and showed their menacing sharp teeth while angrily glaring at her.

"oh no"

Sasha is a very curious and stubbornly brave (or stupid) 13 years old girl. One day, she couldn't take it anymore. She was craving a new adventure, so she fled her adoptive mother looking for a more action-filled life. Guess what? Well, she found it! But maybe it wasn't exactly what she was expecting. She woke up, after a dramatic fall, in an unfamiliar, fantastic world called Egea where lives some of the most unexpected of creatures. Along the way, she meets a lot of interesting people(?) but also falls face-to-face with a very unfortunate series of events. Will she be able to make it back to her family? or will she find out that she belongs somewhere else...?
