Tadeo ended the class, took his papers from the desk and before anyone approached him, quickly left the classroom. Without a word, without a smile, without a gesture, everyone saw the tall redhead disappear faster than lightning. The place fell silent, no one knew what to do, but in their minds they all expected it to be something at once. Everyone started to leave the classroom, only Raúl sat there thinking about what had just happened.
The day was ending, Raúl had spent time looking for Tadeo all over the campus, without success. The other students were busy with their own lives and social circles, so they gave no importance to the professor’s strange behavior. Only Raul, who had spent more time by his side, knew that that behavior was hiding something. Seeing that the sun was setting and that his search was futile decided to take one of his sheets and write a note, then pass it under the door of Tadeo’s office.
With the little light entering through the window, Tadeo saw a paper being introduced to his office, before approaching I wait for the sound of steps to go away. Once everything was silent, he stood in front of the door and took the blade that was at his feet. 'Stay safe' those simple words, signed by Raúl, instead of calming him, filled him with fury. The scene that I witnessed gave him an idea of the reason why Raúl had ended up hurt and the guilt intoxicated him How could he not realize what was happening to Raúl? His presence had caused him harm, but... Walking away was not something he could do; that gloomy-looking boy with eyes the color of the sky had him so dull that he was not able to see how he suffered.
Every day Raúl arrived early to secure his favorite seat, in which he had a clear line of sight towards the lectern where Tadeo was watching him, but it seems that in reality he was not paying enough attention and that broke his heart. That night he could not close his eyes and could only think of what to do to help Raúl. His mind wandered into every dark corner trying to find a solution, he could only come to a conclusion.
Here you will begin to say that fate is cruel for making you pass something like this; but I swear, again, I AM NOT TO BLAME! Human stupidity, I’ll blame it on human stupidity, the same one that Dr Bailey blames on Grey’s Anatomy during Thanksgiving. You make the decisions; you take that step forward and it is not my fault that you sometimes take the wrong path to solve your problems. So, the human stupidity of Tadeo that night led us to fall into the spiral of despair, pain, crying, loneliness and suffering that I will be describing in detail.
The day after the scene that Tadeo witnessed. Raul arrived at the building hoping to find him at the end of the main hall with his friendly smile on his face and surrounded by cheerful students enthralled by his figure. On the contrary, the scene that appeared before his eyes when entering the building was so gloomy that it looked like a cemetery, for a moment he thought he was in the wrong place, until in the distance I noticed that bright red, moving alone everywhere.
When he realized there was no one around, Raúl decided to pass by him to greet him. What I didn’t expect was that as soon as Tadeo noticed him, I would glare at him. Raul stopped in his tracks, with his mouth open and his eyes open like plates, saw Tadeo leave quickly without stopping at any moment and ignoring everyone who greeted him.
The corridors of the university were filled with uncertainty, murmurs filled the air and with each group passing by the famous redhead, tears covered the floor more. Raúl was worried. He wanted to ask what had happened, to be able to give him some of the support he had received from him. He saw the hours go by on his watch and when the time came for class with Tadeo, he ran away. I entered the classroom as usual, wishing to see Tadeo enter the conference room, with safe passage and eyes shining with enthusiasm for the theme he would impart. But that’s not what happened. That tall figure took the first step inside the classroom and a wave of cold filled the place, without smiling and ignoring those present fixed his gaze on the blackboard and began with the class.
The bell marked the end of the longest hour in the lives of the students present, and when they thought that would be all, Tadeo stopped them. With confused looks they all returned. Once Tadeo made sure they were all seated he inhaled deeply and in a deep voice said:
"Yesterday a group of his superiors made me realize that the way I behave with my students is not the right one. It seems that several of you think you have the right to decide who I can talk to, live with or even greet. Many even believe they have the power to read my mind and thus the duty to make decisions on my behalf. They imagine that they have an obligation to take away everything that does not enter into their conception of right from me to prevent me from getting hurt, as if I were fragile and unable to fend for myself. So, let me make something very clear. You are only my students and therefore at the moment you graduate the bond that unites us breaks, I will not cry, I will not provide you any means of communication, I will not take any picture with you, I will not accompany you to any celebration and above all, I’m not interested in having any kind of relationship with you beyond that of a student teacher. If any of you have a problem with that, do me a favor and leave my class and never stand near me again. If anyone ignores my request, they will see me in the painful need to use force to make it clear that I want nothing to do with anyone"
