I wake up with a strong pain in my head and the blurry view. I rub my eyes, hoping the blurriness to go away. And it is effective. The blurriness goes down to my usual level of blurriness. Oh, the fate of a short-sighted person.
So why am I lying on a bed? Oh, I think….
Wait! Aren’t we fighting against that giant feathered lizard? Where am I now?
I’m hastily rubbing around, searching for my very needed glasses. Just where do my glasses go, it is my whole lifeline…
“Are you searching for this?”
A woman's voice comes in with a blurry silhouette of what it could be of my glasses.
“Thank you,” I say while taking my glasses from her hand. I put it on and see the sword lady smiling at me. Oh, the blessing of good eyesight.
“We are waiting for you to wake up.” She says that to me.
Right, that monster!
“U-Uhh… W-What’s happened to that beast?!” I actually stammers. I can feel my parched throat burdening my speech.
That lady puts her hands on both my shoulders, “Worry not. That beast is already dead. Now, we are resting at the nearest village.”
So that monster is dead. I sigh in relief.
“I’ll go tell the village chief about you waking up.” She walks to the door and stops, “After that, we will check again if you’re really fine.” She goes out of the room.
Eh? What does she mean by that?
A sense of dread creeps over me. I check my body, “Fine, here is fine. This one is fine as well. I think I’m all fine. No. I think I’m too fine. Wasn’t I trying to fight that monster?”
Finally, it is all coming back. Those horrid memories start to drown my pitiful brain. I hold my head in terror, “What was I doing back there?!”
What I mean by what I am doing is what I am thinking.
Just where does that bravery come from? Want to save people? What am I? A shounen protagonist?
I slap both of my checks in frustration.
“Haa… Seems like the protagonist syndrome finally rubbed into me.” I stand up and take a look at myself in the mirror. This is the first time I have seen a proper reflection of myself. My face still looks the same. My hair is longer though. It grows down my shoulder. Hmm, maybe I should take a proper cut.
Wait. Since I can finally use a proper mirror. Should I check more if I probably change in any places? Let’s see, my skinny arms and skinny legs. I think as a general I become more fit? Then my stomach… Does my stomach have any abs? Let’s see…
Tweek.
Our eyes meet together after I heard the sound of the opening door. That teen mage’s eyes are round and wide as if she sees an embodiment of blasphemy.
Oh, I see. She just sees me checking myself. Now, that’s kind of embarrassing. I quickly pull down my shirt, “T–there is nothing to see!”
“No, you can help yourself,” says her in a plain, cold voice. The quick closing door leaves me all alone in a warm red body.
The room is left with a cold silence.
Then, I see that pair of emerald eyes again, peeking a little from the door opening. “Don’t forget to go to the chief’s house after you’re ready. I only come here to tell you that.” She says that to me.
The door closes again. For real this time.
Tamaya starts his day with multiple bad luck. Not only that, his misfortunes seem to stack together as his day goes on. "What is this?" Tamaya asks himself. "Why it happened to me?" He asks again. Plagued by frustration, he decides to kick the nearest stone. His misfortunes will not end there. The stone he kicked will take revenge on him. But, how so?
