Keiko approached three other inklings that were gathered around a table.
"Hey, guys!" She called, waving to them.
"Hey, Keiko," One of them, a boy with spikey green hair and tan skin, said. "Who's that behind you?"
"This is Eight," Keiko said, moving so the others could see Eight. "She needs some cash to get new clothes, so I thought we could play a game with her."
"Works for me," A tall, black-skinned girl with yellow hair said. "And Ash's eye is still recovering, so he can sit this one out." She laughed, and her hair shifted as she did. On the left side of her face was a braid and on the other was a long strand like Keiko's.
"I can fight perfectly fine with one eye, Niika," Ash, a boy with an eyepatch covering his left eye and a blue ponytail, said.
"No, you can't," Niika said.
"How about you, Rider?" Keiko asked.
"As long as we can still play, I'm good," Rider, the green-haired inkling said.
"Soung good, Eight?" Keiko asked, turning to face her.
"Yeah," Eight said.
"Alright, let's go play!" Keiko said. The other three got up from their chairs, and all five went into the building.
Eight is an octoling who just escaped from the metro. On the surface, she meets a kind inkling named Keiko, who decides to show her the ropes of life in Inkopolis.
When Eight needs a place to stay, Keiko, who needs to get a roommate to help with rent anyways, decides to let her stay, and the two become friends quickly.
But the return of sanitization, and Keiko's ties to it, gives the pair a reason to leave. They move to the new town of Splatsville
