Suddenly, a blast of orange ink that appeared seemingly out of nowhere decimated all the salmonids.
"Wha?" Eight said. She shakily stood and picked up her weapon. She scanned the area, seeing no sign of anyone.
Thwap.
Eight turned around to see another person standing beside the egg basket, holding a Ballpoint Splatling. They had the same gray skin color as Salmonids, except for the ends of their arms and legs, which had a darker black color. Above the heels were small orange fins that looked like the fins of a Salmonid, and instead of the tentacles that the inklings and octolings had, there were fins on their head.
From her waist was a long tail, similar to the one on the back of her head, but with a longer fin.
"I'll be taking these," She said. she gripped the egg basket and tore open the wire mesh walls. She wore a backpack, which almost instantly collected all the golden eggs that had been collected.
"Hey!" Eight said. "We worked hard for those! You give them back."
"Hah!" The person said. "No."
"Why not!" Eight asked.
"Hey!" Keiko suddenly said. "Don't forget us!" Eight tossed a splat bomb behind her, and the subsequent blast revived the team.
"I'm taking these eggs and you can't stop me," The person said. "So, sayonara." She backflipped over the short railing and dove into the water. Eight, Niika, Keiko, and Rider rushed over to see that the person was swimming away, as gracefully as a fish.
"Well, that's a wrap," Mr. Grizz said. "You all jump back to the boat."
So they did.
"I'm confused," Rider said.
"So are we," Eight said.
"And now, the run's a dud," Niika said. "Hmmph."
"That was a bad run," Mr. Grizz said. "Not a single egg? Well, I guess your level will drop a bit."
"Aw, come on!" Keiko said.
"Well, settle in for the boat ride back," Mr. Grizz said. "It's a long one."
Eight is an octoling who just escaped from the metro. On the surface, she meets a kind inkling named Keiko, who decides to show her the ropes of life in Inkopolis.
When Eight needs a place to stay, Keiko, who needs to get a roommate to help with rent anyways, decides to let her stay, and the two become friends quickly.
But the return of sanitization, and Keiko's ties to it, gives the pair a reason to leave. They move to the new town of Splatsville
