Ahato crept out of the room she shared with Misuno, careful not to wake her.
She walked down the hall and peered into the secondary living room. There was Pearl, asleep on the couch with loud music blasting out of a speaker in the wall.
She moved on.
In one of the many recording studios, Marina was crouched down in front of an open panel in the DJ board's side, peering in with some kind of tool in her hand.
"What're you doing?" Ahato asked.
"Good morning," Marina said. "I'm trying to reconnect two wires in here."
"Can I try?" Ahato asked.
"Sure," Marina said. She stood up and handed Ahato the tool. "I can't get the angle of the flashlight right."
Ahato crouched down with the tool in hand. She peered inside. Everything looked just as bright as the room outside, something she knew was because she could see in the dark. She used one hand to hold the two wires together and then used the tool, a welding tool, to attach them at the ends.
"There," She said, scooting back out from the desk.
"Thanks," Marina said. "There's breakfast on the table."
"Okay," Ahato said. She handed the welding tool to Marina and went to find breakfast. She popped into the room and saw several plates piled high with pancakes.
She grabbed two and stuffed one into her mouth, carrying the other with her as she went to the bedroom she shared with Misuno.
She opened the door and stepped inside. Misuno was still asleep in her bed. Ahato set down the second pancake on a table and gently woke Misuno up. Her soft purple eyes fluttered open, then widened in shock.
"Ah!" She shouted, scooting backward quickly and sitting up. Then she paused and exhaled. "Sorry," She said.
"It's fine," Ahato said. "I have nightmares related to it too."
"How do you. . ." Misuno said.
"I know you, Misu," Ahato said. "And I barely sleep anyway. I know you have nightmares."
"Oh. . ." Misuno said. The two looked at each other in silence. And then Misuno's phone rang.
