The two of them separated. Eight stared into Keiko's dark eyes. They leaned in for another kiss.
Ding-dong! The doorbell rang.
"I'll get it!" Keiko said, jumping off the bed and exiting the room. Eight noticed that the ends of Keiko's tentacles, while usually sky blue, now faded to the soft lavender color of Eight's hair.
Eight got up and followed. She stopped outside the open door of the bathroom and saw that her tentacles faded from her lavender to Keiko's sky blue. She heard the door open as Keiko said something to the person there.
Eight stepped around the corner and saw Keiko standing in the doorway. Just beyond her was an inkling who looked very similar to Keiko.
"Trina?" Keiko was saying. "What are you doing here?"
"Just checking in on my little sis," The inkling, presumably Trina, said. "So. Who've you been kissing?"
"W-what!?" Keiko sputtered. "How do you know-?"
"It's obvious," Trina said. "Your ink color's been mixed with someone else's."
"Oh," Keiko said. "I thought you'd been spying on me or something."
"Nah, I wouldn't do that," Trina said. "So, can I come in?" Eight ducked back around the corner as Keiko nodded. The two inklings entered the front room.
Trina sat down in a chair and Keiko plopped onto the couch.
"Where's Triton?" Keiko asked.
"Oh, he's watching over Shoreline and his friends," Trina said. "They're playing basketball."
"Hmm," Keiko said. The two sat there, the uncomfortable silence deepening.
"So, when do I get to meet them?" Trina suddenly asked Keiko.
"Huh?" Keiko said, confused.
"Your boyfriend or girlfriend or whatever!" Trina said. "When will I get to meet them?"
"Um. . ." Keiko said. "I'd have to ask whether it's okay with them or not. Uh. . . I'll go do that now."
Hearing this, Eight quietly dashed back to the bedroom and sat down on the mattress. After a few seconds, Keiko poked her head into the room. Seeing that Eight was there, she came in and sat down on the bed across from Eight.
"So, my sister's here," Keiko said. "And she wants to meet you right now. Is that okay with you?"
"Yeah," Eight said. "Does she know that we're. . ."
"Together?" Keiko asked. "Yeah, she knew we were. . . uh. . . kissing."
"Alright," Eight said. "I'm fine with meeting her." The two of them walked down the hall and into the living room.
"Trina?" Keiko said. "This is Eight. We're. . . together."
"Hi," Eight said.
"Hello, Eight," Trina said, standing up. She put out one hand. "I'm Trina, Keiko's sister. Nice to meet you." Eight shook Trina's hand.
"You too," Eight said. All three sat down. Trina sat back down in the chair and Eight and Keiko sat down next to each other on the couch.
"So. . ." Trina said. "You two are together, yes?" Eight and Keiko both blushed.
"Yeah," Keiko said.
"Well," Trina said. "Nice to finally see my sister with someone else."
"Trinaaa!" Keiko said. "Stop saying embarrassing things like that!"
"Okay, okay, sorry," Trina said. "Well, I have to go. It was nice meeting you, Eight."
"You too," Eight said. Trina and Keiko stood up. Keiko opened the door and Trina exited.
"Bye," She said, hugging Keiko. Then she left. Keiko shut the door and went back to the couch with Eight.
"So," Eight said. "I didn't know you had a sister."
"Yeah, I don't really mention it to most people," Keiko said. "She has a kid, Vintage."
"Does she do Turf War too?" Eight asked.
"No," Keiko said. "She doesn't like to. She lives kinda far away, in Tentatown, but she works in Splatsville."
"You realize I have no idea what those are," Eight said.
"Right," Keiko said. "Splatsville and Tentatown are cities."
"Oh," Eight said. "They're above ground, right?"
"Yeah," Keiko said. Then her phone buzzed. She pulled it from her pocket and looked at it. "Oh, Niika says that there's someone who wants to challenge us."
"Ooh," Eight said. "So, you're going to fight them in a turf war?"
"She says its ranked battle," Keiko said. "And you're kinda part of our team now, or at least until Ash's eye gets better."
"I'll do it," Eight said.
"Alright," Keiko said. She messaged Niika to tell her that they were coming, and then the two left.
