"Basically, we all choose one of the two teams," Keiko said. "Then we fight battles for our team. Once it's over, whichever team has more wins and votes wins the whole thing."
"Ohhhh. . ." Eight said. "So, what are the two teams this time?"
"It's Trick versus Treat!" Niika said. "I am most certainly on Team Trick!"
"I am too!" Ryo said.
"What team are you going to be on?" Eight asked Keiko.
"Treat!" Keiko said. "Nothing beats some good candy."
"Same here," Misuno said. "What about you, Eight?"
"I think I want to go with Team Treat," Eight said.
"Yes!" Keiko said, punching the air. "Candy for the win!"
"Candy is so good," Ash said. "I'm with you guys."
"Pranks are better," Rider said.
"I'm with Niika and Rider on this one," Ahato said.
"Let's go get our Splatfest Tees," Keiko said.
The group all walked over to the team selection. There, they picked which team they wanted to be on and received the shirts used during the splatfest.
The ones that Eight, Keiko, Misuno, and Ash wore were purple, while the ones the others wore were orange.
"Let's have a turf war now!" Ryo said.
"I won't be able to play," Ahato said. "So I'll just watch."
"Then there's not enough of us for a full team," Niika said. "We'll be paired with a rando."
"Our team is full," Ash said. "So we'll probably win."
"We ready?" Ryo asked. "Can we play now?"
"Yeah, let's play," Keiko said. All seven went into the lobby to play a match.
Eight, Keiko, Misuno, and Ash emerged from their spawn point, holding their weapons.
Eight was using a Nautilus again and Keiko was using her Kensa Splatterscope. Misuno, surprisingly, used a Bloblobber Deco. Ash was using the Dark Tetra Dualies.
Rider held his Dualie Squelchers. Niika's huge Dynamo Roller was resting on her shoulder. Ryo used the Splat Dualies. The random person who had joined their team held a splatterscope.
"Let's go!" Keiko said once the match began. She and Misuno worked together to create paths of ink to move forward. Ash began painting the area around their spawn while Eight painted the spaces in between the center of the stage and their spawn.
Keiko scored a splat on Niika. Misuno caused considerable chaos with her bouncing blobs of ink. Her special gauge filled up, so she used it.
The small device she threw down rose up into the air and burst into a cloud that rained down ink as it moved forward.
Then Keiko shot the other charger user right as he splatted Misuno. Eight charged up her shot and swam forward, popping out of the ink to paint the ground around her. She moved around the side, getting behind Rider and Ryo. She popped up, surprising them when she splatted them.
But she didn't notice Niika right behind her. Her dynamo roller came down on top of Eight, crushing her.
After a few seconds, Eight respawned. Ash had finished painting and was moving toward the center stage. His hair glowed brightly and colorful flames danced around them.
Eight smiled, figuring that he would approach the center to use his Splashdown. She again swam forward to focus on painting the middle area and attacking.
At one point, both Niika and Ryo were attacking her. Just when she thought she was going to get splatted, Ash super jumped to her and activated his Splashdown. The explosion of ink splatted the sisters.
As the match progressed, it became clear that Team Treat was winning. They had superior attacking and painting power than Team Trick.
This was shown when the match was over.
"Yes!" Keiko said, punching the air. "We won!"
They had barely won. Team Trick got 46.7 percent and Team Treat got 47.2 percent,
"Dang," Niika said. "You guys played well."
"So did you," Eight said.
"Ooh, look!" Ryo said, pointing toward a stage that had been set up in the square. "Off the Hook are doing a live performance!"
"Let's go watch!" Misuno said. They all hurried over to watch as Pearl and Marina sang one of their hit songs.
Ash and Niika danced together, making Eight want to do it too.
Ryo, Misuno, and Ahato sang along with the lyrics, shouting them out as loud as they could.
"Keiko," Eight said. "I want to dance." Keiko looked into her eyes.
"Alright," She said. "Let's dance." She took Eight's hand and pulled her into a dance.
They sang and danced long into the night, happy as could be.
