After I had finished my history class, I met up with Juden so we could go to our next class. We talked a little about what we had done in our classes.
“Alert. Update to the system will commence soon,” A voice suddenly said.
“Wha?” I said. “Excuse me?”
“It’s an update,” Juden said. “Every so often the world updates, usually just bug fixes and a few new things.”
“Oh, updates,” I said. “There’s one now?”
“Yep!” Juden said. “My first one!”
“Cool,” I said. “Same for me too.”
“Update is starting.” The world went wonky, colors mixing and shapes twisting until everything went black. Then it faded to a soft blue before snappily reassembling itself around me.
I realized after a few seconds that I was lying on my bed. I sat up quickly. The air was fresh and the sun was shining through the window. Then clouds rushed in to fill the sky.
“That was intense,” Juden said.
“Yeah,” I said. “Should we check the new things?”
“Definitely,” Juden said.
“Appraise,” I said, holding my palm over myself.

“Cool,” I said. “That’s a lot of new stuff.”
“Some of these things are insane,” Juden said. “Should we get anything now?”
“Let’s look,” I said. I went back to looking through everything. “I’m thinking about the [Tag Team] skill and the [Skill Boost] skill,” I said after a little while.
“Nice,” Juden said. “I think I’ll get [Cyclone Dash].”
“[Lifeblood Boost] sounds useful,” I said.
“It does,” Juden agreed.
“[Dash] is good,” I noted. “And its upgrades.”
“Ooh, [Max Fist] is cool,” Juden said. “And [Max Boost].”
“Yeah,” I agreed. “I think my final pick is [Desolate Dive].”
“Okay, let’s get these skills,” Juden said.
“Alright,” I said. I selected the skills I wanted and then selected ‘Purchase’.

<Yes> No
I selected yes. I watched my skill points drop down to 190. Then each skill popped up under my list of skills.
Then I heard a loud yawn.
“Are you two done yet?” Ariel asked from the bed. “Like, it’s been several minutes now.”
“Well, I’m done,” I said. “I’m not sure about Juden.” Then I heard a small rustle from the nightstand next to my bed. I turned toward it just as the small dracibat I had rescued the previous day popped up out of its nest of fabric. It chirped.
“Done,” Juden said. “Should we try them out?”
“Yeah,” I said. I went to one side of the room. Then I started to run to the other side before utilizing my dash skill. I flashed forward for about 6 feet before stopping.
“Wow!” Juden said. “That’s cool! Let me try.” He faced the opposite side of the room before doing the same thing as I did. Because he got the cyclone dash, a blast of wind pushed me back into the wall.
“Cool,” I said.
“Attention students. Please make your way to your classes now. There will be a ten-minute grace period for lateness considering there was an update today. Thank you.”
“Well, let’s go then,” I said.
“Alright,” Juden said. “We have the same next class don’t we?”
“Yeah, math,” I said.
