Thunder crashed, seeming to crack the very heavens above. You pounded on the door, muscles taut with pent up panic and confusion. When no response came you threw your weight against unoiled hinges, crashing brutally into the foyer beyond.

Darkness enveloped you in greeting like a suffocating shroud. Lightning flashed to reveal a vast entrance hall strewn with rubble and dust, testament to long years of neglect. You shivered uncontrollably, cold and drenched to the bone.

A shadow detached itself from deeper shadows, gliding sinuously toward you with predatory grace. You scrambled back with a cry, snatching up a loose stone to brandish in trembling fingers.

The figure stopped just beyond the reach of your makeshift weapon, features resolutely obscured by the gloom. But you could feel its eyes on you, intense and unblinking.

"Who are y-you?" Your voice quavered, barely louder than the storm battering the house. "W-Why have you had me b-brought me here?"
