Pale morning light seeped through moth-eaten curtains, banishing the last wraiths of slumber. You rose stiffly, dressed in clothes provided the night prior—a plain tunic and leggings that hung loosely off your slender frame. Long black hair spilled down around your shoulders. Fingers traced the ornate brooch fastened atop the pile, its engraved vines comfortingly familiar. 

Memories teased the edge of awareness like wisps of fog, fleeting when grasped for. You knew only that this trinket and whatever secrets it held had been sold with you when you were purchased by your master.

A growl erupted from your stomach, reminding you that you'd abstained from the meal left by your host, offered in silent whisper, you'd fainted before reply could be gifted. Even if you had not, though ravenous, distrust had stays your hand; who knew what poisons a vampire may season food with?

You sigh as you run a hand through your hair, you were tired still, but fainting in a vampire's home, especially that of the infamous Jack, the Vampire King, who built this mansion as a Haunt to eat and devour humans like you, how horrid. You couldn't think too clearly right now however, all thought seeming to have fallen from the very edges of your mind into a pit below the very back of your empty skull. You look around the room a bit, before deciding to leave.
