Clicks Zombie (Draft)

The Clicks Study

The Clicks Study

Nov 14, 2023

The return visit the next day was lovely, he wasn’t fussy like before but he knew it wouldn’t last long until the needles come out. He rather enjoyed how skittish the fellow was, very entertaining during these long days.
He watched his progress and marveled at how active he is, he certainly kept himself in very good shape despite what he was told when they discovered him. He was stated as not smart, but clearly can figure out a way to get himself out of any kind of maze.
He was also stated as not very agile, but that was blown through when the guy ran for practically hours without rest and barely a few beads of sweat. Jumping, no problem, dodging, he was a master of it. Whatever he threw at the child he passed with flying colors and did cartwheels for fun.
He gave him a simple task to do while he tried to calm himself down from trying to rush to the next experiment. Clearly lifting weights would tire the kid out, and it was a boring task to watch so that should keep him focused while he wrote down his findings about this child.
So, 10 reps of each weight and he looks as tired as when he first started. He’s up to nearly 100 lbs. He’s showing no signs of slowing down but out of the kindness of his heart he stopped. He showed that he was a bit tired, but he can clearly go on if he needs to. Who ever taught him how to push through needs an award for best teacher. The kid was like a well build oiled machine.
A few more simple tests, breathing, stretching, his sight was also phenomenal. He must have been blind in that eye for a while for him to be this good at target practice. He’s no stranger to keeping his hands occupied and limber as he waits either. He found a pencil that was left out and started twirling it around, and looks at the sight test gauging his own eye sight.
Scent test was also as remarkable as the first day he arrived. He was more than just Rover Cautious, he takes in everything.
Once all his findings were noted down, Rover comes in and it was time to get the needles out of the way. He was glad that he exhausted some of his energy so that Rover won’t have a difficult time controlling him.
The needles were all done and over with and new findings were just emerging from him. He went to his jacket and pulled out most of his candy that he brought in and sat down to eat them. Then he starts doing exercises after that, then starts lifting weights.
He truly was fascinating.
If he could have more test subjects like this then he would be overjoyed and want to poke them all with needles and fill them with vaccines.
Rover talked to him a bit more and mentioned that he should keep the kid alive and healthy. He could do more than that, but right now wasn’t the time. He needs more information on how much he can take. Rover also mentioned that Curtz would give the same order. Well this was interesting. Two people were interested in the well being of this child.
What kind of world would it be if he didn’t listen to at least one of the two?
Well keeping the kid was priority so he’d do it even if he wasn’t told. He just wants to know one thing about his immune system. Would he survive longer than any human that was bitten?
Truly exciting.
He gave Curtz a short report that wasn’t as detailed but just enough to give him an idea of what the kid was made out of. He would keep him a secret so long as he wants, after all what good would it do the spill everything right away?
Testing him a few days later and understanding what he was saying, he goes by the name Clicks and refuses to tell me otherwise. He taught him a few more hand signs and they spent most of the days just talking like that. Him clicking and hand signs and the other just listening and give him a reply in hand signs.
He likes listening to other people talk about their day and would often ask how his was, of course it would be boring to talk about the people that walks in and does a simple check up. The paperwork was also boring to some degree. Yet he still listened as if it was the most interesting thing in the world.
He started to feel comfortable with the kid to talk about his past, a past he would rather forget. He had away of opening you up and make you reveal everything about the experience. When talking about his wife he found that the words just spilled out of him and once it was all said and done Clicks offered one of his candies.
A simple gesture from a kid that knew no other kind of comfort methods, but it still meant the world. He said that whenever he overcame a difficult moment in his life his brother always gave him a piece of candy for a job well done.
It must have applied for all things difficult and frustrating.
As the days fly by whenever things go hard or frustrating, he would watch and wait until he overcame it and was offered a candy. He somehow started applying that to the patients and started to notice little changes in the people that walk in, even listening to them as they rant about their day.
Who would have thought that such a simple act would bring such joy to others. Clearly there was more to learn about Clicks, but these moments were starting to get precious the longer they interacted with each other.
He brought a calm with him that this place needed and he wondered why such a gem was hidden for so long?
Another thing, what were his goals in life?
What could he want?
What would he gain?
How far is he willing to go for those goals?
So many questions about his next move and he’s not answering a single one of them. So far he’s only lived and trained and continued that cycle. Curtz hasn’t returned neither has Rover. Clicks often visits when he gets the chance and talks about his day.
It sounds like he giving those guys up there a run for their money, he’s showing so much of his skills to others slowly.
Well let them believe that he knew little about Clicks other than what he written down for Curtz.
It’s exciting to know more about the kid than anyone else.
He worked in his lab figuring out the vaccine and using blood to help him understand how Dark Red reacts. Clicks’ blood was no different when faced with the Virus. Makes one wonder how he made it this far. Could it have been his brother that looked after him and taught him everything he knows?
Well whatever it was, there was no use waiting for the answer when you have your own two legs to push you forward. He tried many types on all of the blood he collected from everyone in camp and worked hard to try and find something that would at least hold back Dark Red.
He’ll need the decoy missions to happen soon, he’s starting to run out of supplies for this cure. It doesn’t matter how sparing he uses them either since most of the supplies goes to the patients as well.
“• • — / — • — •     — — —     • • —     • — • •     — • • / — • • • / • — • •     — — —     — — —     — • —     • •     — •     — — • / • —     — / • •     — / • — —     • — •     — — —     — •     — — •”
It was surprising to hear clicking behind him in his lab and wondered what it could be until he seen Clicks looking at his work. Panic set in once he realized that he boy could have saw everything from the beginning. He grabbed a blank page and started writing on it.
“Mixing beforehand is doing no justice, what if you make it like one of those shots where you have a separate capsule within the mix and let it mix together like that changing the chemicals right then and there.”
“That... could work,” he said and immediately started to work. He tried various combinations against the Dark Red and it seems that none were working. Until a few days later where signs were starting to show in the blood that he infected with the Dark Red.
“• • — / — •     •     •     — • • / — —     • —     — — •     — •     • —     —     •” he was once again surprised by the clicking, Clicks pulled out something and held it against the dish. The blood was attracted to it.
“A magnate!” once again he was distracted by the new findings and began his experimentation once more. He was so close to a break through, oh so close! He looked up and around to see if he could speak to Clicks about his discovering but seen that he was no longer there.
It also seemed more quiet in here, the Bone Rotters were no longer groaning but a steady sound was emanating from them instead. He checked and seen that they in a state of sleep. He went back to his desk and found some candy there, it was almost relieving to see them there. He went back to work with new hope and discoveries, often checking on his patients when they come by.
When Clicks had visited again he asked how he knew about the magnate or the possible solution for the cure. His response was he heard his old friends often talking about mixing drinks separately and that he came across a Bone Rotter with a magnate stuck to it. He knew that the child was observant but to see such things in passing that others would have over looked? What could his goal be, and why here?

Dr. Needle is a little workaholic huh? Now if only he put that in with the warehouse group!

Still a little salty about that, but hey this works too ^^

Future me! Taking time for yourself is not a bad thing. Don't be like Dr. Needle!

Can someone tell me why there is a guy out there with bells on, the speaker on, and dancing to the music?

Decoy? What is he trying to do?

Help the people out there gather supplies.

Is there a reason why he has to dance? Is that important?

No, so he's just out there dancing and leading the zombies away. Who does he think he is?

What do you mean don't be mean? He's useless!

Alright fine, he isn't. But what could the purpose be for that annoying display?

Wait, where is he taking the zombies?

To a ditch?

Oh a stage.

Should I even ask anymore? Is he all that helpful? What about the ones left behind?

What do you mean they didn't get tickets? They have to get tickets to watch him... Oh.

I don't get it, I'm speaking to the leader and telling him how useless this guy is.

Leader, what do you mean he's helping? In what way?

Decoy? How is that-

What was that? Gunshots?

Army? What army?

Who are you? Why is Prancer here?

Run decoy for you? What do you mean leave?

Alright I'm gone don't shot.
