Ramona's face appears worn and gaunt, with sunken eyes that betray a sense of emptiness. There is a stoic stiffness in her posture, suggesting a certain rigidity and lack of ease. Her face seems devoid of any expressions, as if emotions have been locked away. It is as if she carries a heavy burden that weighs her down, leaving her outwardly indifferent. Despite her regal presence, there is an undeniable weariness that lingers, making her exterior appear somewhat lifeless.
Her handmaiden noticed this and asked. “My lady, is everything alright?” Ramona through a sinister glance towards her. “Stay in your line peasant.” The handmaiden paled and looked down at her shoes. “My apologies, your highness.” Ramona scoffed. “Much better.” They walked the rest of the way towards the coronation hall in silence.
The coronation hall of the royal palace was abuzz with anticipation. The air was thick with excitement as the kingdom prepared to witness the coronation of Queen Ramona. Noble lords and ladies, dignitaries, and commoners alike gathered to witness the historic event. The rulers of Cera, LaSei and Gour attended too. Their final meeting was when King Loch’s passing was announced, and they decided to give Ramona a chance since she and Lana was beloved by the kingdom. The throne room, adorned with intricate gold tapestries and shimmering chandeliers, showcased the wealth and power of the monarchy. The excitement of the people filled the air, and they couldn’t wait for the new Queen’s speech. Their eyes were filled with hope, as they believed this young queen would usher in a new era of peace and prosperity.
As the ceremonious music played, Queen Ramona made her entrance, dressed in a resplendent gown, shimmering with jewels that reflected the light of the chandeliers. Her regal poise and beauty captivated the crowd, and a reverent silence fell upon the assembly.
The archbishop stepped forward, his voice echoing through the hall as he began the traditional coronation ritual. The air was charged with the sacredness of the moment, as the onlookers were joyful as they watched the ceremony, some of them had tears in their eyes. Noy attended as well, Mr. And Mrs. Sami were in the front row, looking at Ramona with pride. They remembered when she was born just like it was yesterday.
The crown now on Ramona’s head she looked up, looked around the room, emotionless. She stepped forward to address everyone. The ceremony long and captivating, the hope and relief lingered in the air. The crowd was overjoyed, some crying some whistling. Ramona rolled her eyes, though she was far away so no one saw. She raised her hands quieting the people down as she prepared for her speech.
“Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed guests, cherished subjects,
Today, on this glorious day, I stand before you as Queen Ramona, humbled and deeply grateful for the immense honour you bestow upon me. The coronation has been a momentous occasion, marking a new chapter in the history of our beloved kingdom. I extend my sincerest gratitude to all of you who have placed your trust in me, allowing me to lead with purpose, strength, and wisdom.
But today, my friends, I speak not only to express my gratitude, but also to usher in a new era of prosperity, peace, and justice for all. For too long, our kingdom has faced challenges that have hindered our progress and harmony. Today, I assure you that the time for change has arrived.
I wish to emphasise that this change will begin from within. We must address the individuals who have chosen to betray not only their queen but the very essence of our values and principles. Those who have conspired against the betterment of our kingdom will be held accountable for their actions.”
The crowd murmured. Looking around confused.
Ramona continued “To ensure a future free from deception and treachery, my loyal subjects, it is with a heavy heart that I must reveal a truth that will shake the very foundations upon which this throne room stands. In the pursuit of a harmonious life for all, I have discovered that the poison of betrayal has tainted not just a few but many within these very walls. The trust we have placed in one another has been violated, and it is my duty to purge this darkness from our midst. I declare that those assembled in this very room are deemed traitors to the crown. It grieves me to be the bearer of such news, but for the sake of our kingdom's survival, we must address the plague of betrayal at its core.”
Suddenly, without warning, a group of hooded figures burst into the grand hall, their faces hidden beneath dark cloaks. They obstructed every door and window that can be used to escape. The soldiers assisted the figures. Panic ensued as the intruders took their places.
Ramona now stepped back and carried on with her announcement “From this moment onward, the cleansing process shall begin. All of you traitors shall be eliminated, and justice shall be served. But let it be known that this process is not one of vengeance, but rather a necessary step towards the restoration of unity, trust, and true harmony within our kingdom.
Today, I plant the seeds of change, and tomorrow, I shall reap the bountiful benefits of a kingdom free from the shackles of betrayal. I shall forge a stronger, more united nation, where loyalty, virtue, and justice prevail. May the light of truth guide my every step.” She held her right hand up gesturing the soldiers to begin. Them and the hooded fighters brandished weapons, cutting through the crowd, leaving chaos and fear in their wake. The clashing of swords and the anguished cries of the wounded reverberated through the hall, drowning out any remaining semblance of celebration. The grandeur of the coronation had been replaced by bloodshed and horror.
Amidst the chaos and carnage, some brave souls attempted to fight back against the infiltrators. Determined to protect themselves and their fellow guests, they formed small pockets of resistance, using whatever makeshift weapons they could find. But for every victory, it seemed that the hooded figures grew stronger, their resolve unyielding. The metallic scent of blood filled the room, and Ramona looked pleased with herself as every traitor in the room was slaughtered.
The massacre persisted, the once-glamorous hall grew dimmer and darker, stained with the blood of the innocent. The cries of agony mixed with the mournful symphony of destruction, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of all who witnessed the nightmare unfold.
By the time the dawn broke, the grand hall lay in ruins – a testament to the tragedy that had struck the kingdom.
Once the warriors finished, they bowed in front of the Queen. Waiting for instructions, one of the hooded figures approached the Queen kneeled in front of her and spoke. “Lord Oberon, it is done we are awaiting further instructions.”
Oberon looked down and spoke. “Fantastic, but all of you must refer to me as Queen Ramona, I don’t want to spoil the joke for my son. Let the others know as well and clean this mess up. I am exhausted I shall be in my chambers.” She turned her heel and walked out of the bloody throne room while yawning and stretching.
