Min-Joon shrugged as he practically skipped down the streets, he grinned recalling that he had successfully made Ji-Won join his comedy club. Excitement bubbled within him; She was going to come and join them tomorrow!
Min-Joon spun singing a happy melody as he arrived near his house. He suddenly halted seeing three purple bags lined up outside, why did they seem familiar to him, those bags? Is someone coming to their house to stay, perhaps a guest? With various questions going through his mind, he arrived at the house.
Min-Joon tilted his head, feeling as if something was wrong. “Why am I feeling nervous?”, Min-Joon said scoffing swiping his fingers through his hair. Shaking his head he ignored the unsettling feeling and walked inside to the living room…until he heard loud noises from within, he immediately turned right away ready to leave, not wanting to get involved in the ruckus…
“Ya! Look at this brat! If you leave now! Don’t come back, your luggage is outside!”, Mr. Lee’s voice echoed as he spotted his son trying to walk away from this situation.
The air hung heavy as Min-Joon caught off guard turned to look back at his father. He squinted his eyes with a threatening look as he marched to confront his father. “What? What? What happened, I haven’t done anything, Father you don’t believe me how could I break your trust?”, Min-Joon pleaded, his eyes wide with innocence, though a mischievous glint lingered beneath the surface.
“Stop being so dramatic, ask your mother what’s the reason I am kicking you out! I can’t believe I have such a childish son”, Mr. Lee scolded, his frustration palpable. “Aigoo, My bp!”, he exclaimed clutching his neck.
“Honey, You should go sit on the sofa. I’ll get you a drink”, Mrs. Lee said running up to see her husband’s condition.
Soon After, amidst the chaos they all gathered in the living room, sitting across from each other. Mr. Lee frustratingly sighed glancing at his son and began explaining the reason for his drastic decision. “I came across your professor at work, he had a connection with my secretary. He started acting as if we knew each other. Even though he was acting strange, he approached me and asked about you…”.
Caught in the act, Min-Joon pursed his lips swallowing hard, he was exposed…he only had one option left now. He had to suck it up…his pride. “Dad…I was just exploring other career options, just because I joined a comedy club it doesn’t mean that I want to become one in the future”, he said innocently.
“True, just because you joined that club doesn’t mean you would end up being a comedian. If you did become one I would 100% disown you”, Mr. Lee explained.
Min-Joon felt as if an arrow had pierced through his conscience, he coughed slightly trying to ignore his father’s verbal onslaught. “Dad, I was just –“.
“But you did wasn’t just join one…You created a damn Comedy Club through my name! You know I have invested in that school. Lee Min-Joon! how dare you? Finally, I’m kicking you out of the house, didn’t I warn you before that if you end up going anywhere near that path, you won’t be allowed back in the house”, Mr. Lee interrupted, disappointment etched on his face.
With puppy-dog eyes, Min-Joon attempted to plead his case. Although internally he snickered there was no way his dad was going to kick him out, it was just a rouse. He had threatened him several times before, but he never acted on it. He was confident that this time, he will do the same.
“He’s your only son, can you really kick him out, Honey? You can’t do that”, Mrs. Lee insisted trying to diffuse the situation.
“Enough talking. I can’t tolerate it anymore! Get out of my house!”, Mr. Lee yelled crossing his arms and waiting for his son to move, giving his ultimatum.
“Honey, please”, Mrs. Lee pleaded, she couldn’t bear her son going out there alone. He had never gone out or lived a day without her. How could she just let him go? “He hasn’t ever worked before how he would survive out there without us”, she continued holding her husband’s arm.
“W-what do you mean? Even if you kick me out, my card will still work. It’s not that I can’t survive without, Dad…I’m not a kid”, Min-Joon pouted crossing his arms.
“What…You jerk!”, Mr. Lee snapped. “Your cards? They’re my money, I earned them which you can’t so listen to me and become a lawyer quietly if you want to live on my money and in this house”, he ranted pointing at his son.
“Yeah, Honey. He can’t make money overnight. Stop arguing with each other and let’s eat dinner. Instead, you should be proud of him since he has such hobbies—“, Mrs. Lee was interrupted as she tried to console her son and husband.
“It’s because you keep taking his side all the time”, Mr. Lee retorted yelling at his wife.
Mrs. Lee looked torn caught in the middle and not sure what to do with the situation. The way it was going now she didn’t know how it would end up.
“Why are you just standing there? Move it. Your stuff is outside”, Mr. Lee said pointing outside.
“Honey, You won’t follow on this right? You’re just bluffing”, Mrs. Lee said, her voice laced with concern as she tried to intervene and calm her husband down yet again.
Mr. Lee sighed hearing the various pleas from his wife. He sat on the sofa deeply in thought. Mrs. Lee hurriedly went beside him hoping just maybe he might reconsider. “Of course, How can I make my only son go out there in the dangerous world? Without any money”, Mr. Lee replied, his tone stern.
Hearing the words come out of his father’s mouth, Min-Joon felt relieved, and he turned to escape to his room right away now that the situation was finally handled.
“I’ll let him at least keep his belongings”, said Mr. Lee glaring at his son’s back furiously.
Min-Joon visibly shocked looked back, an upside-down frown etched on his face.
And so, with no option left Min-Joon made a run for it. “Mother, I’ll be leaving you now. I’m going to lock myself upstairs in the room”, his voice echoed as he ran upstairs desperately wanting to stay in this house.
“Hold him! Guards!”, Mr. Lee yelled immediately pointing toward his son running upstairs. Mrs. Lee couldn’t help but gasp at her son’s actions. Mr. Lee shook his head at his wife, “This is why I was saying you spoil him too much”. Mrs. Lee lowered her head, her expression faltering.
The guards who were working for the Lee firm, a few of them were stationed in this mansion for protection but they never thought they would end up in a chase, and that too a chase to catch the heir of the company they work for.
The guards dressed in black slipped down and from each angle, even on the stairs, behind the door, from the bathroom, and every nook of the mansion they tried to enclose the path of the young master so he couldn’t run anymore. They never had expected the young master to be this fast…
Min-Joon ran with all his might, he ran avoiding the guards that were coming up to him from left and right, even sliding from the bottom. Though he shook them off using his leg strength…even he was surprised at himself sometimes.
As Min-Joon was in deep thoughts getting overconfident in each passing second for being able to avoid the sudden onslaught by the guards, grinning suddenly he found himself dropping to the floor. He had tripped on a vase, falling face-front on the ground.
A deafening crash echoed through the hallway upstairs. “What has he done this time?”, Mr. Lee commented hearing the commotion upstairs. Beside him stood Mrs. Lee wondering and hoping her child was fine and if anything happened to him.
The next second, Min-Joon was escorted downstairs grabbed by guards holding him on each side. “Let me go!”, Min-Joon protested, struggling to loosen the guard's grip on him.
Mrs. Lee tugged her husband’s sleeve, but he ignored it since he knew he would change his mind. This time there was no way in hell he was changing his mind, he had enough!
“Dad, Why are you doing this? Why?”, Min-Joon yelled as he was held up by the guards as they reached the living room.
“Put him down”, Mr. Lee commanded abruptly, silencing his son.
The guards walked away the second they put down the young master. Min-Joon sighed a sigh of relief touching the ground with his own two feet, he patted the dust off himself fixing his disheveled appearance.
Mr. Lee, with a sandal in hand, declared, “Instead of the guards throwing my son out…I should do the honors!”. Swiftly, the sandal soared through the air toward Min-Joon, who made a hasty escape, narrowly avoiding it.
Once again, Min-Joon made a run for it. If Min-Joon could, he would have run to his room instead, but his dad didn’t give him enough time.
The main door swung open by Min-Joon as he ran for his life from his dad who now had changed his weapon to a gold club. “Dad, Please calm down”, he pleaded, the urgency in his voice evident as he ran out the door.
“Tell me you’ll become a lawyer and take on the firm then I’ll stop being like this”, Mr. Lee insisted, rushing out the door after Min-Joon, holding a golf club threateningly.
Min-Joon turned back, and retorted frustratingly, “What? What? Why are you like this? Is it a midlife crisis then go see a doctor instead of bothering me!”.
“You brat! Learn how to respect your elders”, Mr. Lee bellowed, hot on his son’s heels.
In the chaotic pursuit, Min-Joon managed to outrun his father going beyond the mansion’s property. “Ahhh! Damn it! Dad!”, Min-Joon exclaimed noticing the distance between them.
“Don’t come back or call! Until you don’t make up your mind!”, Mr. Lee declared as he locked the main door, leaving Min-Joon outside.
“Ughhhh! This is the worst! Now where should I go?”, Min-Joon exclaimed, catching his breath as he came to a halt. He walked with a sulking demeanor toward his purple bags and hurriedly left his house not wanting another encounter with the old man. It’s not that he feared him or anything.
Ting!! Min-Joon grabbed his phone from his pocket and opening it he saw a notification that his mother had sent over 500,000 won. “Mom”, Min-Joon said affectionately. “You’re the only one who thinks of me within the house”, he sniffled while dragging his three purple bags behind him.
Back to the present, in Seung-Ho’s house. “This is what happened, now tell me where I should go?”, Min-Joon whined clutching his leg.
“First of all, get off my leg before I call the guards on you”, Seung-ho responded sternly. Min-Joon took his hands off instantly and pouting crawled back to the unmade bed.
“Use the money your mother gave you and buy an apartment. You can’t stay here since you know about my dad, don’t you?”, Seung-ho explained matter-of-factly.
Min-Joon nodded, questioning, “But can we even buy an apartment at such a low price?”.
“You can buy one, but it won’t be luxurious. If you want to prove your parents wrong then continue living in the apartment until they come get you back”, Seung-ho suggested, engrossed in his notes.
“Genius! Seung-Ho, your mind is amazing!”, Min-Joon exclaimed with a grin, he could just imagine the look on his parents’ faces when he will prove them wrong.
“I know”, Seung-ho replied, a small smile tugging at his lips as he closed the cap on his pen. “Let’s visit the apartment buildings tomorrow and if you’re going to stay overnight then don’t let my dad know you’re here”.
Min-Joon sighed, nodding, as he collapsed on the bed. “Good night”, he said, making himself at home.
Seung-ho shook his head ignoring Min-Joon’s actions and refocusing on the work he had been given by the firm. He now officially worked at the Lee firm as an intern, he sighed, knowing he had a lot of work awaiting him.
