Time to start my writing! If you’ve read my previous works, you’ll know that I like to start my books with a note before I start writing and end them with a note reflecting on the experience. So, welcome to the opening note.
The majority of you are likely familiar with this story, so hopefully I succeed in writing a version that’s entertaining despite you knowing all the twists and turns. Who knows, maybe you’ll even learn something new?
I have done extensive research to make this telling as accurate to original accounts as possible. However, as with most of my works, everything is true save for the parts I made up. So, do not cite this as an academic work! You’ve been warned.
Alright, I think that’s probably everything. I’m not letting myself edit this later, so if I forgot something, we’ll both have to suffer for it. If I remember it when I’m finishing writing, I’ll include it in the end note. Feel free to shake your head in disappointment at my blunder. You may even waggle your finger at the page ruefully, but only twice. More than two wiggles feels excessive, and I’m sure others will agree and scorn you for having an unforgiving, ungenerous heart.
If you are a new reader, thank you for taking a chance on me. If you are a returning reader, thank you for your continued trust. I don’t know if I’ll do my best, but I’ll certainly try my hardest.
Humbly,
The Dandelion Prince, hopeful to one day deserve the title Dandelion King.[1]
[1] There’s a high chance this is referencing “Dandelion King,” a famous poem from Cona. If there’s interest, I can share a translation.
