Ch. 8 - Traveler from the Other Side IV

Ch. 8 - Traveler from the Other Side IV

Nov 25, 2023

As a tropical rainforest area, Indonesia only has two seasons, the rainy and dry seasons. If snow appears, it only occurs on the edge of the peak of Mount Jayawijaya.

The highest and coldest place in Papua. So, the snow emerged other than on the edge of the mountain peak is impossible.

"Then what happened after that?"

"What happened? Wait a moment. Let me try to remember it again.”

Blightmire is a gathering place for lost travelers who want to rest in peace without worrying about monsters appearing and other astral creatures.

We could say that it was a place of salvation.

It is similar to a house, but carries an aura of sadness because many travelers are sad about the departure of their colleagues.

Randolf, who was resting near the monument while recording his journey, did not remember what happened to him. However, one thing that is certain is that the black snow phenomenon has also hit Blightmire.

This, of course, raised questions for him and everyone there. Knowing the phenomena and irregularities that had occurred in his world, Randolf understood that black snow was not an ordinary thing.

However, if you have to think more just to get an answer, then this phenomenon emerged is not a good sign.

“I was resting, just like now, but everything changed when the black snow fell. I lost consciousness and woke up to see the building's ceiling collapsing .

“That means you moved places without knowing the reason, huh?”

I feel like there's something strange about this snow, but if this supernatural phenomenon is happening all over the world, then no place is safe, thought Adis.

“Earlier you said about the ice continent called Svellfold. Then there was Goreford and Blightmire, right? As far as I can remember, there is no region like that in the world.

It's true, from his demeanor and clothing, I feel like this person isn't from Earth, thought Adis.

"Ha ha ha ha. Of course not, especially after hearing your story earlier. The conclusion I can draw is... our world is different. You said that this place is the Archipelago of the Republic of Indonesia, right?”

Addis nodded.

“I also don't remember there being a republic in my world and know everything about this place from the perspective you have shared. I can only call it the intersection of the Lord's will.”

“The Will of the Sovereign?”

This time it was Randolf who nodded. Then he started telling everything he knew about his world while making a glass of warm drink.

The campfire he made still looks strong. Despite the snowfall, they were underground with an access hole for the campfire smoke.

They are in the basement where the lecturer’s special vehicles are parked.

“So you're saying that those with the name 'The Will' are entities equivalent to Demigods?”

“If that phrase is all you can understand, then I don't mind at all. However, each of these entities always has unreasonable power and there are even some people who worship these entities."

"Then The Mother that you mentioned earlier?"

“The Mother itself is a nickname given to the goddess the Creator. The goddess who gives life and fertile soil to the world where I live. In history recorded on artifact scrolls several thousand years ago. They depicted the Mother as just an adult woman, but that is only her mortal form so that we as humans can see her great wonders. In fact, The Mother herself is still a mystery to this day."

Randolf could see the reflection of his face on the surface of the warm water in the glass in his hand. He looked tired and looked like he was in a daze.

“However, apart from The Mother, there are also others. They are not as kind and generous as The Mother... they are ruling entities filled with desire and a feeling of emptiness from their own presence,” said the eccentric man.

Adis just silently listen while thinking about what the man tell him.

"The entity we need to be aware of and deal with if we ever come across them and the monster we just defeated is probably one of their children," continued Randolf, and then sipped his drink slowly.

“That's quite a long explanation, but would you be okay sharing that with me?”

Randolf smiled faintly.

“Of course, as someone who received blessings from The Child. You should know this, because in the future you might face them directly."

“The Child?”

“An entity depicted as a wandering, solitary bearer of good and bad news and a harbinger of impending doom. As the name suggests, this entity resembles a cheerful little child, but behind its smile and innocence there is another meaning."

That's when Adis's memory took him to the past, where he once encountered a strange little child. He wore nothing but a thin cloth covering his body. Something terrible captured him, despite his barefoot and cheerful demeanor.

Adis himself is not sure about his memory of this. After all, his meeting with the little boy was more than 10 years ago.

Currently, Adis can only connect each thin red thread and knit it into one complete unit. Does his meeting with the little child have anything to do with this phenomenon or not?

"Then about the blessings you mentioned earlier?"

Randolf turned to Adis, then put the glass in his hand down.

"Like this?"

The eccentric man just opened his palm, and suddenly a gentle flame appeared on it.

“This is the blessing you wanted to ask for, isn't it?”

Adis also swallowed his own saliva because he gasped at the sight.

“I'm not very competent in this discussion, but perhaps one of my acquaintances can help you answer any doubts you have.”

Randolf then closed his palm. The fire disappeared instantly.

"How? Are you interested in visiting my world?"

“I-I'm not sure. There are still people out there waiting for me."

“With the situation you are in now. Honestly, it would be impossible for you to survive against those cursed creatures.”

"I-I'll try. In fact, I can defeat that monster!"

Randolf just shook his head. “It's all because of your blessings. You don't even know about that, and are you still sure you can survive against them?”

“Ughh... t-t-that... “

"Look? You yourself doubt it. Maybe you succeeded, but how long can you last?”

Adis lowered his head in disappointment.

“Listen, young man. Right now, it has become a war zone out there. We don't know what the future awaits us there. However, if you had the chance to change that, would you be willing to take the risk of doing it?”

"Chance? Like what?"

Randolf smiled mischievously. The dark feelings he felt began to fade, and he felt that soon there would be a new storm that could change their current condition.

"Come with me to Blightmire," he said with a serious expression.

“Come with you to Blightmire? Then what about my family out there?”

“Do you want to meet them as yourself or as corpses?”

“U-ughh…”

“That's why you need to prepare everything for your family. Even if you have to wait longer, but at least it's better than delivering your corpse to them, right?” Randolf asked with a chuckle.

Adis took a deep breath, then lifted his head upwards while closing his eyes.

Should I take up the offer? However, my family? Thought Adis.

"So that you don't have any doubts, take a look here."

"Hmm?"

Randolf showed Adis his Arcana Compass, but the young man didn't understand what it meant at all.

“Imagine your family and position yourself as clearly as possible. You can see their condition from here, think of it as a binocular that can see their condition."

"Okay," said Adis, nodding.

Adis closed his eyes again and imagined all the "family" members he had in the orphanage.

"After that, place your palm on it."

Following Randolf's directions, Adis immediately placed his palm on the Arcana Compass. Immediately the compass gave off a faint light and appeared a bright light green dot.

“Open your eyes and see for yourself”

“O-okay…”

"Do not be shy. Just open it straight away," said Randolf while patting Adis' left arm.

“Ughh—This green dot is… my family?”

Randolf nodded slowly.

“Because it showed your goal as a representative, this green dot represents your family's current condition. Look, the light green dot shines brightly, indicating that they are fine, and none of them have any injuries or problems.

"Is it true?!"

"Yes. I won't lie to you, especially since we are fellow travelers. Only honesty can help us like this."

"I'm grateful. I think they are in danger." Adis let out a sigh of relief.

"Then your decision?"

Adis' eyes now met Randolf's emerald green eyes. The eccentric man's beautiful eyes showed no lies at all. Eyes that are honest and full of warmth.

"Good. "I'll come with you," said Adis with a serious expression.
