Kuro went inside with the 300 Poké his mom gave him. He stood behind him; Ash turned around. "Oh hi, Kuro! We meet again," he smiled. "Your mom made some good tacos!" 

"My mom is a good cook," he replied. 

Mr. K looked at Kuro's gem. "Is that a garent gem of the Garnet Kingdom?" 

"Yes sir, Mr. Ketchum. This is supposed to give me Aura powers." Kuro showed it to his mentor. 

"We'll continue this after I order my cup of Joe," he said, turning to a college-age, black, male barista. "Give me the usual please?"

"One coffee with Nanab cream and Sugar In The Raw coming right up!' He typed in theorder and sent it to the back. eagerly. 

Kuro stepped up. "I'll take an Oran Refresher, please?" 

The barista typed in his order and faxed itto the back as well. "Nice gem you got there, Kuro. Sale on Esty.com (reference to Etsy)?" 

"Th-thank you. And...uhhhh no... It's a gift. My mom gave it to me." He sat down in front of Ash, waiting on his order. 

Kuro said loudly, "My mom said I'm a descendant of Aura..."

Ash whispered, "Not so loud! If normal people hear you're an Aura person, they'll treat you like an outcast. Haven't your mom told you?"

He nodded and kept the tone down. "She did tell me. It's supposed to have powers, like making a blade, among other powers. She wants to me to use it for good though. Kinda wanna use it to get me a free soda."

"You shouldn't use that thing as a toy," Ash protested, keeping at a low tone. "It's to stop villainy. And also to hone your skills." 

"But I don't understand. How can I use my powers for good if people are still gonna be prejudiced towards me." 

"One person might not like you," he pointed out "but someone will. Why do you think the baristas are cordial towards me?" 

The barista called out in his African accent," One coffee with Nanab cream, and one Oran Refresher." 

Ash and Kuro went to go get their drinks and sat down. Litten napped next to his Trainer's seat like a stereotypical house cat.

Ash said, "Let's cut to the chase, Kuro. I'm getting old, and I'm looking for a team of Aura Guardians to save the world. I can't do it as much unless need be." 

"I'll join!" he exclaimed. 

"Shush!" Ash scolded, whispering. "You have a lot to learn though." 

He wrote down the address. "Meet me after school for orientation, and we'll go from there. I'll also help with homework, and I'll provide snacks. You won't be alone; I sent the same thing to two others. You also get to go on missions and learn how to use your powers. Forewarning: I have a wife, a 3-year-old son, and a 7-year-old daughter.

Kuro looked at the address. "Wait. Th-that's way outta town." 

"I know," he replied stoïcly. He got up. "I'm gonna go to the meetup with you, see you battle others. Then later, we can have a 1-on-1. I wanna see what you've got." 

They shook hands. "Sounds like a plan!" he said confidently. "I'm gonna mop the floor with you."

And the two enjoyed their refreshing drinks, talking about other stuff. Litten hurled a flaming hairball. Kuro groaned, "Not this again, Litten!"
