In the morning, Hajnal found herself surrounded by soft blankets and pillows. Momentarily, she had no idea where she was. She called for Bíbor in panic, but then yesterday’s events came to her, and she went quiet.
A handmaid came into the room. She brought her bathing water and clean clothes. The whole time, she did not utter a single word. When Hajnal was all done, she simply bowed and then left. The fairy was again left alone with her thoughts, and she could not bear them.
She left her room and started to roam the castle aimlessly. She mulled over what to do. Should she go home? But how? Alone, she might not even find her way back. Before she knew it, she found herself in a garden full of roses.
”Bíbor likes roses so much. Especially the red ones. She would love this place!” – she thought instinctively, but the realisation immediately struck her.
As she was wiping her tears, someone offered her a handkerchief.
”How are you doing?” – the prince asked as he leaned closer.
Hajnal did not answer, but the man didn’t expect her to do so. For a while, he stayed quiet, and then he took out something from under his vest.
”I just received this. Sadly, this is all my team has found.”
The fairy raised her head and took the dagger with shaking hands. It belonged to Bíbor. Hajnal gifted it to her a long time ago. She carried it everywhere with her.
Hajnal pressed the dagger to her chest and began to cry bitterly. The prince carefully hugged her and comforted her until the tears ran dry.
”Would you like to tell me about her?” – he asked at the end.
”About Bíbor?”
”Yes. As far as I can tell, she was very dear to you. I would like to know more about her if you don’t mind. What kind of a person was she?”
Hajnal sourly smiled.
”She was the kindest and the most gentle creature in this world.” – she started to speak.
