Tears To You, My Dear

Chapter Three

Chapter Three

Nov 27, 2023

I stared off into the distance, my head pounding, but my mind only on those eyes. I truly don't understand why I was intrigued with those eyes, but they sink me in.

“Layla!” I jumped as I pushed the hand away from my face, “Are you okay? You've been in a daze,"

“I think she's fine,” Eli spoke, “After all those drinks and with her being lightweight, it's taking time for her to recuperate,”

“Did any of you notice a person with blue ocean eyes?” I asked

“There she goes again,” Ysennia groaned, rubbing her temples, “She's been asking about those eyes since last night,”

“Wait, did someone catch your eye, Layla?”

“Yes, their eyes did,”

“Oh my god, Layla has a crush,” Roxy gushed, covering her mouth

I shook my head, “Its not a crush,”

“Oh, it is, Layla,” Roxy leaned on the table, “Describe what you felt when you looked into their eyes,”

I hummed before speaking, “It was like I memorized into their eyes. I felt at peace and sincerity like I could look into their eyes forever. I also thought they were more beautiful than the ocean,”

“Holy shit,” Roxy smiled brightly

“This is a emergency,” Kai looked at me in shock

“Why is it a emergency? Should it be? Do we have to release a flyer for those eyes?”

“She's so naive,” Roxy cried, she held onto Kai's arm, “We have to save her,”

“You are just complicating this more than it should,” Ysennia glared at them

“Ysennia, don't lie. You’re also intrigued in Layla's little crush,”

Ysennia sighed, “I am, but this is not the time to be gushing about this. I have a headache and I know Layla does as well,”

“Well, it seems she doesn't have one. If she's so memorized by those eyes,” Kai stated

“Kai, just shut up,” Ysennia glared at him

“I didn't mean to get you all upset. I'll stop talking about those eyes,” I scribbled on my paper

“No, continue to talk about it, Layla. Don't hold it in,” Roxy said, patting my hand

“But I do have a question,” I sat up in my chair, “Is my head suppose to be pounding?”

“Yes it is, but I have some medicine for you,” Ysennia took out a pull bottle and handed two pills to me, “Drink it with water,”

“I know,” I drank water after taking the pills and looked back at them, “So, was your night better than ours?”

“There's the Layla we know and love,”

                                                          ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

I crumble the piece of paper, I was drawing on. I thought if I could draw those eyes to get it out of my mind and leave me alone, but it wasn't working. I have gone through five pieces of paper because I couldn't get it right either it be the shape or color. I closed my eyes to only see those blue eyes. I sighed, not understanding what was happening. I open my eyes and reached for my bag, grabbing the crystal ball from the silk cloth covering it. I just stared at it, slightly rubbing on the side. I groan when those eyes came back.

“Why won't you leave me alone?” I rested my head on the table, “I don't know you, but you've taken over my mind,”

I abruptly raised my head when I saw a bright light. It was my crystal ball. I saw a picture and words underneath it. In the picture, was white hair covering a male silhouette back. I looked at the words written, ‘The stars have aligned for a unforeseeable event. Keep wary of small creatures. Be on high alert,’

“Small creatures? Like rabbits or frogs,” My eyes stayed glue on the picture

I've seen that white hair at the party. So it was a man. I bit my thumb, trying to understand everything, but that failed. The crystal ball faded and I decided to place the silk cloth back over it.

“I probably need a nap,”

                                                         ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

“Good morning, students! I know you are all wondering on what's happening. It's been a month since the announcement of the trip to Itosan. We closed submissions a week after the announcement and have been looking through each submission and have gotten 30 candidates. We do have a wait list just in case the candidates wish to revoke their position,” A professor handed the headmaster a piece of paper, “When I say your name, please come up to the stage. Alaric Synder….,”

Me and Ysennia squeezed each others hand, just waiting for our names to be called.

“Ysennia Ada,”

We both looked at each other and I pushed her forward, “Go, go!”

She ran to the stage, standing beside the line of candidates. I clutch my hands together, just wishing for my name to pop up.

“Layla Winters,”

My eyes widened and I rushed to the stage, not wanting my position to be taken away. He continued to list the final names.

“Now that we have our candidates here. I would allow those who wish to revoke their place to speak now as once its finalized, there's no going back,”

“I-I would like to revoke my position,” A boy stepped out with his hand up

“Come up to the podium,”

They spoke but in the meanwhile, a few others decided to form a line behind the first one. I applaud their bravery but I do know they'll regret it.

“Now that we have spots open. Me and a few others will look through the waitlist to determine which one is a best fit. I would like to thank every single one of you for taking this chance. For those, who didn't get a chance, just know there may be more opportunities after this one, just continue to study and better yourself. You are all dismissed expect the candidates,” He looked at us before waving to the body of students

Once the students left, he stepped off the podium and stood in front of us. His arms behind his back.

“It's a pleasure to see you all. You have all achieved greatness and that's why you stand here. Since you were picked, you will be pulled from all your classes and be put in a certain class that you will remain in until you travel to Itosan,”

“What will this class contain?” A student asked, raising her hand

The headmaster smiled, “This class will teach you about Itosan and their culture. Also, certain responsibilities you'll have over there,” He looked at each one of us, “I'll state all the information you need to know once you start that class and we fill in the remaining spots we have. You may all head back to your classes,” And with that, he left

We stood there until Ysennia squealed and grabbed my shoulders, making me face her, “We did it!”

“It's a miracle that we got in,” I was shocked

“Oh come on, Layla. Everyone knew you'll be accepted regardless. But, look were going to Itosan and were going to learn so much,”

“It's going to be a new place for us, but so much to learn on becoming a lawyer,”

“You and your studying, but we're not going to be studying that much. We're going to find ways that can help you sleep,” She smiled at me before pulling me along to wherever, “Come on, let's get back to class and then for lunch, we can boast about this to our friends,”

                                                           ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

“My question is how did Ysennia get accepted?” Eli asked, astonished

“Hey, is that suppose to offend me?” Ysennia gasped, hitting his shoulder, “They saw I was a dedicated student and willing to prosper me with opporunitites,”

“Hah, you just think that,” Eli rubbed his shoulder

“You’re just jealous that I got accepted and you didn’t,”

“Well, I didn’t submit an application so why would I be jealous?”

“Enough with the both of you fighting,” Roxy butt in, before looking at me, “How do you feel, first place?”

I shyly smiled, “I was surprised as I didn’t know I would be accepted because of my luck and I had to check my form a couple of times, but I’m glad I’m going to Itosan,”

“Layla, you should know that you’ll be accepted regardless. The headmaster just wanted to tease you,” Kai sat down at our table, “I’m kinda jealous since I heard Itosan is more advanced than us and the myths there are absurb,”

“Myths?” Ysennia looked at him, “What kind of myths? I wanna know,”

“Are you sure? Wouldn’t you want to hear it from the citizens of Itosan?” Kai leaned his arm on the table as he rested his cheek againist his hand

“Just tell me already,”

“Well, supposedly there are myths that dragons live among them, that’s why it’s so difficult to get into Itosan. To this day, there are only two dragons known and they live as humans,”

“Are you serious?” Roxy leaned more onto the table, intrgiued

“Theyre have been records dating back 1000 years. We do have records on them, but Itosan is withholding alot of information, so when you go there, try to get information on this as I’m interested in their history,”

“What else do they have beside dragons?” Eli asked, “You got me intrigued now,”

“Well, I know that land holds alot of magic, so it can be anything really. But I do know they’re have been sightings of elves, mermaids, and what was the last one?” Kai rubbed his temple, “Ah! Also shapeshifters,”

“Wow and our country only has elemental magic,” Eli slouched in his chair

“At least we have magic and not shapeshifters,” Roxy shivered, “I hate the thought of someone shapeshifting into me or someone I know,”

“Well, I guess it’s a good thing, you weren’t picked to go to Itosan,”
