Tears To You, My Dear

Chapter Four

Chapter Four

Nov 28, 2023

I sat down beside Ysennia as we sat in our new class. The headmaster was very quick to fill up the remaining spots and enroll us into the mandatory class. I did miss not going to my astrology class, but the professor has given me assignemnts and a class book to do whenever I feel bored and want to learn more of astrology/astronomy. I had a feeling I wouldn’t be able to do any of the assignments nor read the book.

“Good morning, students,” The headmaster walked in, standing before us, “I know its early in the morning, but this is a very important class that will help you become accustomed to Itosan’s culture,” He walked to the chalkboard and began to write on it, “Well only have two weeks to learn the basics of Itosan’s culture, teachings and etiquette. There may be more things to learn, but only if we have enough time,” He turned around to face us, “It may seem alot, but I know you can all endure it. I have picked out certain professors to teach these things to you as I trust them and know they’ll do a amazing job at doing so. So, please continue to cooperate with one another and I’ll be checking up on you all,”

“Headmaster, I have a question,” Reynolds raised his hand, “Once we complete the recommend classes and still have a few days before the travel to Itosan. Can we use those days to adventure out of the academy to the city one last time?”

The headmaster looked at him, smiling, “I’ll take that into consideration, but the all of you must past the tests they’ll give you after each class to get a good understanding of Itosan. For now, I’ll let the professors introduce themselves and let the classes begin,” He walked out of the classroom and we focused our attention onto the professors

“Good morning, everyone. I’m Professor Urban, I’ll be teaching you the history of Itosan and what you should remember from it. Please be patient as this course will be time consuming,” He smiled at us before moving to the side to let the other professor introduced themselves

“Good morning, I’m Professor Harty. I will be teaching you on Itosan’s culture also about the taboos that you must not say around them,”

“I’m Professor Gill and I will be teaching you the law enforcement system, but primiarly about the justice system and how their learning systems are to better your learning experience there,”

“Last but not least, me,” The professor said cheerily, “My name is Professor Lewis and I will be teaching you the etiquette and common courtsey there. There is a heirarchy there but well go over it when its my turn. Pleasure to work with you all. Now, I’ll hand the stage to Professor Urban,” She moved the side

“Thank you everyone. Now, that we have introduce ourselves. Its time for this class to begin,” The rest of the professors left and only stood Professor Urban

He went behind the desk and grabbed something to which were journals. He handed them out to each of us and went back to the front. “Since everyone has a journal. This journal will be based on this class only. I have included tests at the end of each chapter and if you look in the journal, you’ll see you’ll have 6 pages of paper for each chapter but may write on a sepearate paper if you need to. I truly want you all to succeed and retain all this information,” He turned his back on us and headed to the projector, turning it on which displayed ‘Chapter 1:The Beginning of Itosan,’ “And here is where we begin. I will allow 15 minutes and then a 30 minute lunch before you transition to your next class,”

                                                 ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

I rested my head on the desk, not wanting to move as my brain was overworking itself. I couldn’t comprehend the material the professor were explaining, all I could feel was my hand and eyes moving without me even thinking. I just felt exhausted and I think all the nighters I did was finally catching up to me.

“Layla, are you doing alright?” Ysennia asked as she poked me

“I feel like my head might explode,” I groaned

“What? Our little genius is burnt out from studying,”

I hummed, agreeing. “Well, get some rest for now. I’ll get us something to snack on for the meanwhile,” Ysennia got up and walked out of the classroom while I just sat there with my head on the desk

I close my eyes and tried to let the tiredness take over me, but my mind didn’t want to shut off at all. I sighed, raising my head as I opened my eyes and jumped when the blue eyes appeared in front of me. I blinked and it was gone. I rubbed my eyes and there was still nothing there in front of me. I’m going insane now. I got up from my chair and walked out of the classroom. I needed to get some fresh air or strong coffee or energy drink to keep me awake and not hallunicating. I got myself a energy drink from the vending machine and walked along the windows down a hallway, trying to find the window that opens. Once I found it, I opened it and rested against the windowsill, letting the cool autumn air hit me. It felt nice to just smell the air knowing that rain is about to pour and just letting it hit my face and body to keep my body functioning and awake.

“Layla, what are you doing over there?” I looked to my left to see Ysennia running towards me

“I’m just getting some air,” I took in a deep breath and exhale, trying to memorize the scent

“Well, we can do that later on our next break. We have to get back for the next class,”

I backed away from the window, closing it. I walked over to Ysennia and we walked back to the classroom. When we sat down at our desk, there was a journal resting there.

“Now that everyone is here, I have placed a journal on your desk and that will be the journal, you’ll be writing in. Since my class focuses on the culture and taboos of Itosan. We will focus on the culture then slowly make our way to the taboos. If you have any questions or why would like a break, please don’t be afriad to ask,” He smiled at us before beginning

                                                   ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

“I guess its a good thing we can eat lunch earlier,” Ysennia said as we sat down with our trays

“I guess they didn’t want us spreading information on what we learned from our classes,” I said as I poked at my food

“Have you tried taking a nap?” Ysennia asked, worried

“I tried, but it was a fail,” I ate a spoonful of my food, trying to keep myself energized

“Well, eat and then try to nap,”

I hummed as I continued to eat until I couldn’t no more. Ysennia grabbed my tray and organized all the things I had on my try onto hers and placed my tray underneath hers, “Sleep,” She glared at me, playfully

I smiled before placing my head on my arm that rested on the table. I closed my eyes, hoping to get just a 10 minute nap. And it seemed like it did work since I was shaken out of my sleep by Ysennia. I leaned against her as we walked back to the classroom. And we were welcomed with another journal on the desk. I guess were getting color coded journals for each class.

                                                               ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

“Get up, Ysennia,” I softly kicked her as she laid in the grass

“Leave me alone to die here,” Ysennia sprawled out like a starfish and I sighed, just continuing to kick her
“Come on, Ysennia. I want to head to bed,”

“No studying?” She raised her head up to look at me

I shook my head, “No, I want to sleep,” I stopped kicking her and made sure my bag was secured before grabbing her hand and pulling her

“What are you doing!” She shrieked

“I’m dragging you since you don’t want to walk and lay on the ground,” It was very difficult to drag her as shortly afterwards, I fell on my butt

Ysennia bursted out laughing, “I guess I’m too heavy for you,”

“I’m heading back to the room with or without you,” I stood up, shakily, but regained my balance

“Wait, hold on,” Ysennia got up, grabbing her bag, “Come on. I know the showers are going to empty since class ended late,” She walked alongside me

We walked all the way back to our dorms, getting to our room and grabbing our basket filled with our hygiene supplies and new fresh cloths and headed to the showers. A long hot shower sounded nice at the moment.

I sat on my bed, drying my hair as Ysennia snored into her pillow. She falls asleep quicky and is a deep sleeper while I just lay in bed, hoping to fall asleep and a light sleeper. I hung my towel on the chair and went over the notes I wrote down, trying to better understand Itosan. I know I said no studying, but I feel more at ease and sleep isn’t coming any sooner.
