I frown as Jacob throws a blanket over Nina's back and situates the saddle. It'd been only about three weeks or so since we arrived and rested while Birdy recovered. I walk up behind Jacob, pressing myself against his back and kiss on his neck. I let my hands wander his soft body.
"Why you wanna get rid of me so soon? You know I---"
"Can ride far away from here," Jacob finishes as he pushes his hips back to make me let go. "Look, as much as I enjoy the company of you two, the one thing I don't wanna deal with? Calvin James. I've heard what he does to people he believes is conspirin' against him. I ain't dealin' with that. Especially not on my own."
"Well I'd be here!"
"Yea, and prolly get shot first thing. Look, he's after Birdy right? You need to keep movin'."
I huff a bit. I can't say Jacob's necessarily wrong. But I'ont wanna leave for a bit longer. It'd be close to a year since I seent Jacob!
Jacob looks to me and puts his hand on my cheek. "I dont't wanna send you off. If anything, I'd love to have you here wit' me, Show. But we both know three things: You can't stay in one place for long, we ain't that compatible and your heart ain't gonna be with me. This for the best."
I lean my hand into Jacob's hand. I nod and help he get Nina ready to ride.
"I'll get the Birdy. Be nice to him and don't go gettin' him shot again."
I wave Jacob away as I jump onto Nina, who neighs a bit. I pat her calm before seeing Jacob and Birdy come over. Jacob gives Birdy a pat on the shoulder and even a hug. I chuckle a little bit when Birdy flinches before huggin' him back. It's cute. Birdy turns to me and I hold out my hand.
Birdy lets out a stern exhale before grabbin' my hand and jumpin' on back.
"Take care, y'all. And don't you be stupid, Show!"
"I ain't!"
And with that, we ride off.
Me and the Birdy ride into a new town and set Nina up somewhere to rest and be fed. As we start heading toward a little hotel to rest, a drunk man came toward up. I hold my arm out infront of the Birdy and look at the man.
"What'chu doin' 'round these parts?" he slurs, stumblin' a little bit.
"We just tryna go and sleep for the night. We ain't tryin' to make no trouble," I say calmly.
It's hard to stay calm with my heart beatin' something fierce in my ears.
"We'ont want you here!" he slurs again, stumblin' still.
"We ain't tryna cause no trouble," I say, urgin' Birdy to start walkin' around the man.
The man says something else but he's so damn drunk he ends up fallin' flat on his face. I shake my head and we head to the hotel. The hotel attendant tells us that each room only got one bed so prolly one of us will have to lay on the floor. I ask if we can have an extra blanket and pillow.
Once we get everything situated, I set up the blanket and pillow on the floor. Sure, it's dusty as hell but we only staying here for the night. We ain't trying to stay here forever.
"You gone 'head and take the bed. I'mma just sleep on the floor. Ain't no need to try and fight over the bed," I say as I lay down and turn my back to the nestin' bird. I'm pretty sure he don't wanna talk anyway.
I hear the birdy shuffling in the bed and we lay in silence.
I close my eyes.
"I'm shocked..."
"Hmm?"
"You didn't try and fight him."
"Well, let's say that I got lecture somethin' fierce while we was stayin' at Jacob's."
"That's the only reason? Because you got lectured?"
I stay silent for a moment before sayin', "That's only part of it. Let's stop talkin'. We gotta leave in the mornin'. Night, birdy."
After a few moments, I hear nothin' from him. I sigh a little bit as I fall into sleep.
I rarely have dreams but this one is something different. In my dream, Birdy is in my lap with his arms wrapped around my neck. He smiles at me as begins kissing me. I ain't got no control over my body but...I wanna touch him. I kiss him back as my hands run along every curve of his body.
As i hover over him, I'ont know where our clothes even went. But do that matter right now?
"Haoran," he whispers as he wraps his legs around my waist.
Something 'bout the way he whispers my name...I need to...
I waste no time, plunging head first into this Birdy. He lets out such a pretty little moan as I push as deep as I can. I look over him. I ain't never realized how pretty he was. Something 'bout his rosy cheeks and lip look against his fair skin...
I want more.
I begin movin', allowin' my instincts to just go buckwild. He's moanin' my name, singin' it like a pretty little birdy would. I take the birdy into my arms, wantin' to keep him close. I want to keep him close to me.
As i continue to plunge into him, deeper and deeper, ready to go beyond...the light of the sun wakes me up.
