JOY.. BUT M0RE OF LIFE!

The argument - Part 1

The argument - Part 1

Nov 28, 2023

Plundering down the stairs, we could hear the voices of a few people arguing with the door. Emerging from the corner, I could see the faces of Mason, who looked like he was about to kill someone, and Lilac, who was my best friend. I hugged them both from behind and could feel them relax in my arms.
'Hey, Lilac. How are you doing?'  Managing a weak smile at me, I turned my attention to Mason, who remained calm in this situation. Taking both their arms, I walked them upstairs to my bedroom where they both seemed to take a few deep breaths before they started talking and explaining the whole situation that happened.
'So... what was that downstairs?' Taking a glance at each other, Lilac sighed before explaining to me;
'You know how the whole thing went when Seth came round? His cousin told everyone how Jessy was a slut and only wore those types of clothes to impress Seth even though she knew that he already had a girl. So when we found out' Pointing between her and Mason 'We went and found the scumbag and tried to understand why he had said those things about Jessy. We came round to tell you what had happened and instead of you opening the door, it was Jessy. She had a massive go at us and said that we were the ones that had called her those names and that we should get out of your house and never speak to you again.'
'Did you explain to her what you just told me?' It was Mason's turn to speak this time.
'Yeah, we did but then she started having a fucking go at us and made it seem as if it was our fault that Seth had come round on Saturday.' I listened to them attentively and wondered why Jessy hadn't listened to them, although, what James had said was somewhat true, but she was trying to be different wasn't she?
'Wait, Jessy is home?'
'Yeah, why wouldn't she be? She does live here right or did something happen?'
'No, it's just that she told Jackson that she was out today and would come home later in the night. I don't understand why she lied about that and to Jackson as well, that's piss-taking.' A knock was heard on my door and Jessy's head peered through my door. Behind me, I could hear Lilac moaning and Mason just slumped deeper into the chair that he was sitting on.
'Hey, what do you need?' She looked towards Lilac and Mason and gave them a look that meant that she hated their guts right now.
'Nothing just wanted to see where you were.'
'Okay, well I'm here if you need anything at all. I thought you weren't supposed to be home right now.' I ignored the surprised look that she tried to hide and stared at her straight in the eyes.
'Well I was, but I changed my mind.' Gosh, this girl was good at lying through her teeth. She didn't know that I got a text from one of her friends to complain about how rude and arrogant she had acted when she introduced my sister to her boyfriend. But, of course, I am not going to tell Jessie that, so she can stop faking the innocent act and tell the truth for once. I can't cope with her thinking all her siblings are idiots. I turned my attention back to Mason and Lilac and allowed my thoughts to flow. Was Jessy hiding something from us? Did she not trust us at all with her secrets? Even if she had secrets didn't she say that she would change and be a better person or was that another one of her stupid lies? Grappling my thoughts into the back of my head, I went back downstairs to analyze the chaos that had happened. The door lock was now broken, the couch had been moved as if someone had been pushed into it, and there was a small crack in the window that couldn't be seen unless you looked at it closely and the T.V. let's just say we'll need a new one. I walked slowly back up the stairs and hovered quietly outside Jessy's bedroom door just enough to see that she was getting dressed as if she was going to meet someone. Which she probably was.
'What's she doing?' Startled, I turned back to find Jackson staring through the small gap in Jessy's bedroom door not caring if he was caught
'Getting dressed to go out it looks like.'
'Did you get the message as well?'
'Yep'. Although the curtains were closed there was still a bit of sunshine penetrating its way through it entering the house and seeming to blind whoever dared to walk in its path.
'What's going on in that small head of yours?'
'Well, you know how it is, just having some thoughts and those thoughts having thoughts of their own, and so forth. It's annoying really but, I guess I'm just annoyed with her. Is she lying to us? Does she not trust us? What did we do to her for her to act like this?'
'You're like a dog you know that right? Always care about people even when they don't care about you, although I do understand what you mean, I wouldn't stress it's not your fault and it never will be. Ignore what she does even if you don't like it. If she doesn't want to change then she won't, it's up to her and only her to change her behaviour. Okay?' I nodded, watching him walk away from her room and back to his. This world really wasn't on my side, but then again when was it ever?
