Tears To You, My Dear

Chapter Five

Chapter Five

Nov 29, 2023

“Quiz me,” Ysennia turned in her chair to face me

I looked at her, “On what?”

“Anything. I think I know the basics of Itosan,” Ysennia said, confidently

“Okay,” I turned in my chair to face her, “I’ll start off with a easy one. When was Itosan finally recognized as a country?”

“You said, a easy one,” She glared at me

“It is easy. It’s not when it was founded nor when they declared it as a nation, but when the other countries recognized it as one of them,” I told her

She just stared at me dumbfounded, “When did we learn this?”

“You really were in a daze. Itosan became a country or nation in the year 100, but it was founded way earlier but nobody knows when. The other countries surrounding Itosan didn’t want to believe that a nation full of unknown creatures could become a place to live and restricted entry. The person who declared Itosan as a country wasn’t well liked and many saw it unfit for him to rule as he was a creature to which he was a Dragon. So, in the year 542, the countries bordering Itosan finally recogonized Itosan as a country due to their agriculture, the population booming, their wealth increasing by thousands and all of them wanted to be apart of their success. So in return, Itosan blocked their borders and made everyone send a request to enter, so it was like payback,”

Ysennia continued to look at me dumbfounded, “How in the hell did you remember all of that?”

“Well, Ive been studying whenever i had the time,” I smiled at her knowing my eyebags were dead giveaways

“H-hold on,” She turned around so her back was towards me and rummaged in her bag. I just sat there, intrigued by what she was going to do. She turned around to face me, “Okay, I have a question for you. What is the most forbidden taboo in Itosan and would you commit it?” She smirked at me

My eyes widened and I looked away, never understanding her motive, “Why would you ask that?”

“Oh come on and answer the quesiton,” She held her jounral close to her as she waited patiently for my answer

I let out a shaky breath, “So, the forbidden taboo is… ugh! I can’t say it,” I placed my hand over my cheeks

“Then just give me your answer since you already know the taboo,” She leaned forward in her chair

I laid my hands in my lap, “I can never see myself doing that, so the answer is no,”

Her face dropped and she leaned back in her chair, “You’re no fun,”

“I’m sorry, but I don’t see myself doing any of that besides studying and exploring, that’s about it. You can do that forbidden taboo, but I’m not,” I turned around to face the desk

“I didn’t mean to get you upset, Layla. I just wanted your honest opinion,” She leaned on the desk to look at me, “You can trust me. I won’t judge you,”

“Then you tell me your answer. Would you do it?” I asked, looking at her

She thought before speaking, “If I’m being completely honest, I would but with someone I feel attract to and probably when I’m drunk. You know how I am when I’m drunk, I do things on impulse,”

“Well, I’ll have your back, so don’t cause any trouble,” I grinned

Her eyes widened, “You'll actually lie to save my ass. Wow, Layla, you have become a badass now,”

I laughed at her, “I'm no badass, but a good best friend. Now let's skip this conversation and continue on with your quiz,”

Her face fell once more, “How about no? I admit defeat and know I won't be able to beat you in the quizzes were bound to take,”

“You'll do well. I believe you and even I'm here to help,”

“Well, first we have to fix your sleep schedule and then you can help me,”

Now, it was my turn. My smile fell, “That's a whole another topic. We can deal with that later since this is more important as it determines if you'll be able to go to Itosan,” I pulled out my journals and laid them out in front of me, “Lets begin,”

                                                   ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

“I don't understand,” Ysennia looked at the paper that was hung on the wall, “You are still first place. I'm shocked as you haven't slept well and the bags underneath your eyes are outshining everything about you,”

“Wow, thanks,” I said sarcastically, “I guess I'm ready to head to Itosan to find remedies or any information on how to treat my insomnia,”

“Well, that means I gotta catch up to you. I can't leave you by yourself as I came up with the idea to explore,”

“Like I said I'll help you,”

“Come on, teacher. Teach me everything you know and be patient with me. You know I'm a little slow at learning,”

                                                           ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

“Congratulations, my brilliant students. You have all succeeded in passing the mandatory classes. Yes, you may have noticed some of your classmates have left but don't worry as it was their choice and I've remembered that someone asked about a trip to the city before leaving to Itosan, but there is a exception. You must go in a group, there'll be no separating from the group or unfortunately you will be terminated from your spot. I wish I didn't have to come this, but there has been sightings of robbery, pick pocketing and murders currently. I truly don't understand what is happening but I do wish to give you one last chance to see the city before leaving. If you wish to go, please sign this paper up here and If you do not, you may spend the remaining time here on campus ground,”

“Excuse me, headmaster,” Lucas raised his hand, “But we only get one day to explore the city? How is that fair as we have four more days before the Itosan trip,”

The headmaster looked at him before plastering on a fake smile, “You may think it's not fair, but I am thinking of your safety as you are my responsibility. Think of how your parents will react once I tell them of your death or injury. One day is enough to explore the city as you must save energy to travel to Itosan and from there on, it's up to fate,”

Lucas stayed quiet, but I raised my hand, “Sorry, headmaster, but I have a question on the transportation to Itosan. I know it's a two day trip from the academy so will we be leaving the day after tomorrow to meet the deadline to get there,”

“Excellent question, Layla,” He smiled at me, “So, to travel to Itosan, we have planned a teleporation device to automatically teleport you to Itosan's arrival center. There's no need to worry on not having any magical powers as you can still teleport without none. Also, you'll be going in groups of 5 so that will be the group you'll be with the remainder of the trip. Your belongings will be teleported right after you so we don't get any missed or lost,”

“Thank you for the clarification, Headmaster,” I set my pencil down as I was done writing

“Now do we have anymore questions?” He asked and once no one did, “Okay, I hope you enjoy your trip to the city tomorrow. Please come to me if you have any more questions,”

“Damn, he didn't need to be a ass about it,” Lucas said once the headmaster walked out, “I was just asking a question even how can we fit everything we wanted to do in a day,” He chatted to his classmate

“Well would you rather be dead or alive?” His friend said, “Even the city is basic. I'm just waiting to explore Itosan so on these days off, I'm gonna catch up on sleep so I have enough energy there,”

“I thought you were on my side,”

“He's a idiot,” Ysennia sighed, tucking her journals into her bag

“Okay, class!” Professor Lewis clapped her hands as she walked towards the podium, “So, today is our last day together. I know you all would rather head to your rooms and I will let you, but whoever wants to stay and ask questions on what topic they don't understand on, may stay,” She smiled as she watched some of the students stand up, “Please grab the folders from the professors on your way out. Thank you for letting us teach you and safe travels to Itosan,”

Once everyone left, she made us fill in the empty seats in the front. “Now that everyone is here, who will like to ask a question?”

“What was the law that is mostly respected there?”

“Ah, Professor Gill, this is for you,” She moved to the side, giving him the stage

“Thank you and to answer your question. It is the pioneer law. It states everyone is hailed accountable and everyone gets a fair trial,”

“For what?”

“Since it's named the pioneer law. Whoever comes into Itosan and threatens or harms the citizens, they are held liable regardless if the citizens started it in the beginning. Itosan created this after seeing so many of their citizens being killed just because of their appearance and being a creature, so they will show no mercy,”
