I start to talk, but feel a tube in my mouth.  I hear the monitors around me panic, as I freak out.  Joseph shushes me, and tries to soothe me.

The nurse comes in, and she removes the tube from my mouth.  "Bella, you are awake!" she smiles warmly.  
"What is wrong with me?" I ask.  

The nurse glances at me, then Joseph then Nathaniel.

"Bella, you are suffering from an etopic pregnancy, basically what that is, is you got pregnant, however the baby was outside your uterus.  Because of this, we have had to remove the baby, and you are in a life threatening state because whilst we did that, we discovered a mass growing on your heart.  We don't know if that is benign or malignant, but it has spread from your heart to your lungs and is reaching your uterus." The nurse explains calmly.

I try and soak this up, but I am in disbelief.

"How was I pregnant, I used protection 5 months ago, which was the last time I had sex." I say.

Joseph turns to me, and his eyes are wide. "I thought you were a virgin, until now." He says, shaking his head.  

Nathaniel leaves the room, seemingly sad.

"Your wife messaged me, saying that you have news for me." I say to Joseph.

"Maybe now isn't the best time." He says.

"Well, my life is at risk right now." I say. "So tell me."

"My wife is pregnant." He says.  He smiles at me weakly.

"I am happy for you." I say, as a tear rolls down my cheek.  Nathaniel comes back in, and he wipes the tear.  "I just talked to the surgeon, its malignant." He says.  "And it's terminal"
