--------------------------------------WARNING DESCRIPTION OF HORRID WOUNDS--------------------------------
Angelika turned to her servant snatching the torch out of his hands and
with a smirk meant for Demyan threw it at Petrona. For Demyan, it was in slow motion.
He saw Petrona weakly looking at Angelika and then turning toward him. A
last gentle smile gifted to Demyan and then she lowered her gaze and
head
so he wouldn't see her pain after being engulfed by flames. Petrona
clenched her tied-up hands over her head and bit her tongue so she
wouldn't scream. A nasty odor of burned flesh, hair, and clothes
filled the room. Luka changed once again into a werewolf and ran towards
Petrona. His father stretched out his arm to stop him. This will mean a
death sentence for his son. Mirko desperately fell on his knees
with tears streaming in his eyes. A dark winged shadow covered the face
of Demyan, which was until now kissed by the sunset. It was Adrik
standing in a window high up of the courthouse. Slowly averting his face
from the horrifying sight and angrily grinding his claws downwards a
column. Demyan had enough with the residents of this twisted realm.
In the split of a second, he dashed towards burning Petrona at an
inhuman speed, sooner than the flames would touch her face. Angelika
together with her servant were thrown away by the pressure wave created
by him. The room suddenly was filled with dark smoke. A piercing
gray gaze was seen in between. A huge silhouette began to appear. It was
Demyan, for him it was the last straw and he lost all his patience. What
he did, was transforming into his true vampire form and extinguishing
the flames out with one powerful blow of his wings and simultaneously
wrapping them around poor Petrona as protection. As the smoke
subsided, everybody in the room gasped in shock, then followed by scared
screams. Bat-like wings, raven hair, gray glare, sharp fangs, and dark
claws... Those were the typical features of a vampire of royal origins. Onlookers
began to run out of the room. The jurymen jumped out of their seats and
the guards were trying to protect them. Luka and Mirko hesitated at
first out of shock, but accepted him being a vampire, since they came
around also with Adrik's true identity. Luka and Mirko came to aid
Demyan and stood guard to protect him and Petrona from the soldiers, who
stormed into the court house pointing their swords and arrows at them.
Adrik flew down from the window over them and reached the tables of the
jury to grab the healing potion and the ring. He threw the small bottle
to a desperate Demyan. Demyan was holding her by the melting flesh,
which was creating even more pain for unconscious Petrona. Mirko tried
to not look at her horrid state. His sight was hindered by all those
tears filling his eyes. He didn't see an incoming arrow and Adrik jumped
into action and caught it into his shoulder. "You have to collect yourself, Petrona needs you now!" He hissed at the short guy. Demyan had to bring Petrona to a safe space. He stood up with her in his arms. "I am the Vampire Prince Demyan and I am taking this maiden with me. Whoever tries to stop me, will be punished with death!" He
sprung up and flew out of the window, which Adrik came through. Luka,
Mirko, and Adrik, who created a portal for them to escape watched them
to disappear. The remaining people, jurymen, and guards fell to their
knees. Will this mean war with the Waste Lands for them?
Demyan
was confused about where to go with her, so they would be safe. The
hill! He flew to the same spot they watched the Festival from. He
descended in between the graves where the butterflies were flapping
around and slowly placed her down on the ground. Finally, he could
admister her the healing potion. She couldn't drink on her own, even
swallowing was a challenge for her. Not only she bit her tongue, but
also her throat and airways were badly burned by the scorching smoke.
Demyan took a sip and pressed his lips to hers and gave her a kiss of
life. Some liquid escaping and flowing down her cheek sparkling in the
moon shine. Her flesh began to harden and painfully peel off with
every touch. Petrona was wincing in huge pain. On her hands he could
even see bones. It was tearing Demyan apart and once more a scene
flashed in front of his eyes as he was holding her near his chest.
The dead hazel gaze... Will it be fulfilled, if he will keep her around?
A
portal was opening and the butterflies got scared and stopped to glow
and hid in the blades of the grass and in the bushes. Adrik, Mirko and
Luka came out. "We were searching everywhere for you! This was our last choice. We are so glad, we found you both still alive!" said Mirko. Luka changed into a human. "How is she? Did you give her that stupid potion?!" Demyan nodded. "Why is nothing happening?" Luka angrily interrogated Demyan, as he saw her irregular hard breathing. Demyan alone didn't know, why it wasn't working. Adrik took down the scarf she once gifted him, so Demyan would cover her almost fully naked body. "It works... but first it needs to repair her internally, and then it will come around and heal also the surface." Demyan didn't even look at him as he was taking the shall, which Adrik stuck in front of his face. He
turned and saw the cracks on his neck and jaw. Everybody was confused
by them. Demyan was about to ask, but Petrona stopped him. "Don't! Don't ask him anything, please. It's forbidden!" He turned to her surprised. She
was awake! Maybe the potion really worked as Adrik said. Mirko cried
like a kid out of happiness and Luka with a smile fell down on his
knees, as a huge rock fell from his heart. Adrik was happy as well. Petrona
carefully looked around, being surrounded by dear friends. She scanned
how much they had suffered because of her. Luka had silver burns on his
hands, Mirko seemed to be okay, Adrik had an arrow sticking out of his
left shoulder, and some new small cracks manifested. He didn't listen to
her, but she was still glad.
Finally, her eyes turned to Demyan and she was shocked into silence.
A heartbreaking challenge awaits Demyan shortly after the Festival, which forces him to return to his home in the Waste Lands. He is back to his emotionless self obeying his father's orders. Sava surprises him with a political marriage, which he is opposed to, but can't do anything about it, yet. He doesn't know, who will seek him out in the very near future, with the help of the Goblin Prince.
