Through gasps of pain, Livia managed to utter an order. "Kill... that... INTRUDER!"
She slowly stretched out her arm with a finger pointing to the door at
the entrance of the hall. All eyes turned to Petrona who knelt down out
of exhaustion holding onto the wooden frame. Demyan desperately watched
as two guardsmen came to attack Petrona with drawn swords swinging
toward her. "NO!" Adrik revealed himself in front of everyone
saving Petrona from the charge by blocking the blades with his claws in
his real demon form. Petrona saw how the glowing cracks on his face
spread and began to crack his skin. The room fell into panic. "A DEMON!"
Any ordinary demon, he was the brother of the Demon King Kazimir. Sava
finally shook off his confusion. This must been that woman Livia was
talking about shortly before the wedding in their secret meeting. Sava
pointed the second sword at his son challenging him. He had to pay
for what he caused and for the treason he created. In a split second
Sava swung his sword at Demyan's back, who just unshed his sword and
blocked the attack from his own father glaring straight into the king's
eyes. Shockwave was blowing around them causing even bigger chaos. Sava
was left stunned. Demyan... his son... has never done anything like
that. He always took any punishment. Meanwhile, Livia managed to
take out the one which was stuck in her intestines dropping it with a
thud to the ground. Shakily inspecting her bloody hands she swore
revenge for the disrespect and humiliation from the prince's side. Her
beautiful gown was torn and soiled with her own blood. She picked up the
sword and slowly made her way through the panicking crowd toward the
entrance. She was like in a trance. Adrik was successful in
protecting Petrona however the magic he used began to punish him even
more for breaking the rules. Petrona collected all the power she had
left, stopped his advances of helping her, grabbed his dagger from his
waistband, and held it in front of the guards to shield him. Demyan
was still involved in an ultimate fight with his own father and the King
of his realm. The clang of clashing blades echoed all over the huge
hall. Both were very strong and skilled in combat. Sava smirked but at
the same time regretted that this was his son. He betrayed not only him
but also the vampire kingdom. How could he join the Demon prince, just
because of a mere human woman? That disappointed him greatly. Livia
was closing in on unsuspecting Petrona, who just was wildly swinging the
dagger at the guards to keep them away not only from her but also from
Adrik whose skin was breaking off on his face. "STOP HELPING ME! You will DIE!" Petrona pushed him out of the door closing it. At
that moment Livia appeared from behind the guards and attacked Petrona
with the sword. She was able to block Livia's blade over her head but
her weak legs gave up and Petrona fell to the ground with a little more
of Livia's effort. Demyan noticed it, pushed Sava to the side, and at
full speed, he spread his wings and flew to aid Petrona. Livia with a
wicked glance in her eyes raised the sword over her head to give
Petrona the final blow... but she never got the chance. Demyan in a
swift swing of his blade cut off Livia's head. The limp body dropped the
sword and then fell to the ground staining it even more with blood.
The
father and mother of Livia screamed out of shock, her mother even
fainted. Sava enraged flew toward his son and that damned human woman to
end them both at the expense of his own kingdom because the only heir
will be gone after he will be done. He will have to start from scratch,
find a new queen, and get a new son since this one brought to the world a
faulty specimen. Demyan had enough of his father's behavior, the
years of torture, mishandling, and humiliation. Today was the day he had
to end it and had to engage again in a final duel with King Sava.
Demyan quickly opened the door and pushed Petrona out of it into Adrik's
arms who was already healing. "Take her away and protect her!" Petrona tired to reach out, but Demyan just shut it in front of her face. Demyan could now turn his focus solely towards his father. "Bring it on, old man!"
Those words pissed Sava off even more. How dare the good-for-nothing
son speak lowly to HIM... to the KING! The Hall emptied itself with the
other side doors and the guards didn't get involved in family matters.
It would stain the king's reputation. Demyan's and Sava's blades
connected once more in a final clash. The surroundings vibrated by the
blow and a pressure wave flew through the air. Sava tried all the tricks
in his book to defeat his own blood, but he didn't even scratch his
son. How could it be? Since he forced Demyan to join numerous
campaigns against different types of enemies he gained enough combat
skills to become equally strong to even the king himself. After a while
of Sava's aggression, he was getting tired. Demyan didn't even lose
sweat about that fight. Demyan didn't expect that his own father would
become this weak and only his fear prevented him from standing up for
himself against the cruel king. Demyan used the opportunity of
Sava's weakest moment to overpower him and make him fly into the wall.
Sava couldn't believe he was defeated. He painfully sat up couching
blood, looking at his son standing proud over him pointing his sword at
the former king.
The present guards knelt down at the victory of the new King...
A heartbreaking challenge awaits Demyan shortly after the Festival, which forces him to return to his home in the Waste Lands. He is back to his emotionless self obeying his father's orders. Sava surprises him with a political marriage, which he is opposed to, but can't do anything about it, yet. He doesn't know, who will seek him out in the very near future, with the help of the Goblin Prince.
