My name is Josh and I am a teacher at a local school in Harare, Zimbabwe. For the past few weeks, I have been feeling anxious and restless.
The reason is the Orime group, a notorious organization that has been causing havoc and violence wherever they go.
I have heard rumors that they are planning to attack our school on the day of the annual tournament, which is a big event for us and our students.
They have done this before to another school in our country, leaving behind a trail of destruction and terror.
I don't want that to happen to us. That is why I am preparing our school to have proper defenses against them.
I am working with the authorities, the staff, and the parents to ensure the safety and security of our school community.
I hope that we can prevent any harm from coming to us and enjoy the tournament peacefully.
I knocked on the door of Principal Darry's office and waited for his permission to enter. He was my boss and the head of the school where I worked as a teacher.
I had an urgent matter to discuss with him about the evil group known as Orime.
"Come in," he said in a friendly voice.
I opened the door and greeted him. "Hello, Principal Darry. Thank you for seeing me."
He smiled and put down his pen. He had been writing something in a book on his desk."No problem. You sounded worried when we talked at lunch time with the other teachers. What's on your mind?"
I walked over to his desk and took a seat on a chair. I rubbed my chin nervously and looked at him with a serious expression.
"Sir, I'm concerned about the upcoming tournament that our school is hosting. Do you think it's safe to go ahead with it? You know how the Orime group likes to target events like this to spread their terror and propaganda."
Principal Darry was taken aback by my concern. He put down his tea cup and asked me, "Is that what's bothering you?"
I nodded and explained, "Yes, sir. I have heard some disturbing rumours about the Orime group.
They have been more active lately and they are kidnapping young people who have special abilities. They are forcing them to join their army of evil."
He stared at me for a moment, then got up from his desk. He walked over to the window and looked at the students who were practicing their skills in the fields. He said, "I see. But I don't think we need to worry too much. Our school is the best in the country.
We have the most talented and powerful students and teachers. No one would dare to attack us."
I shook my head and repeated, "Sir, that's exactly why we should be careful. The Orime group doesn't care about our reputation or strength. They only care about spreading their message of chaos and destruction.
The more attention they get, the more recruits they attract. If they manage to strike our school, they will make a huge statement to the world. They will show that they are not afraid of anyone and that they can challenge anyone."
I nodded in agreement as the principal finished his sentence. "We will need to discuss this with the other teachers. I'll call a meeting tomorrow to talk about this issue," he said, putting his cup on the table. He looked like he had a lot on his mind.
"Alright, thank you for your time. I'll see you tomorrow then," I said, getting up from my seat. I was about to leave when the principal stopped me with another question.
"By the way, how is she doing? Our school's prized student?" he asked, referring to one of my students who had exceptional abilities.
"She's doing fine, sir. She's working hard and learning fast," I answered, trying to sound casual. I opened the door and said goodbye to the principal. I walked out of his office and headed towards the exit.
As I walked along the corridor, I glanced out of the window and saw a group of students walking on the school grounds. They were Ashylene, Dwayne, Sandra, Tinashe, Jane, and Ashylene's two sister.
They were five of them are from the five great families of the chosen ones in our country. They had special powers that made them targets for the Orime group, a mysterious organization that wanted to use them for their own purposes.
I sighed as I thought about the danger they faced. I reached into my pocket and took out a cigarette and a lighter. I lit the cigarette and took a drag. I needed to relax after a long day.
I got into my car and rolled down the windows. I was ready to leave the school and go home. As I started the engine, I noticed two kids lurking near the gate.
They didn't look like they belonged here. They had shabby clothes and suspicious expressions. When they saw me looking at them, they ran away as fast as they could.
I frowned and wondered what they were up to. Were they spies for the Orime group? Or just some troublemakers looking for a thrill? I decided to ignore them and drove away from the school.
They seemed to be around fourteen years old, wearing school uniforms from a different school. They were gawking at the school building, trying to catch a glimpse of what was inside.
This was not uncommon. Many school children were curious about our school, where the chosen ones studied. They wanted to see the students with special powers, or maybe even witness some action.
I was cautious, but I didn't want to be paranoid about everything. Not everyone was a bad person, or a potential enemy. That was something I learned from an old friend of mine, when I was still a brat myself.
He taught me to be vigilant, but also to be kind and compassionate. He was one of the few people who understood me, and who cared for me. I missed him a lot.
