Arranging our destiny

Ch.14

Ch.14

Dec 07, 2023

Wade's step was shaky. It wasn't the first time he'd gone to a friend's house, but the friend in question, this time, was Kyle. When Wade had invited him home to disinfect the wound, he hadn't felt so uncomfortable. However, the idea of sleeping in the same room with Kyle made him restless.

Arriving at the address indicated by Kyle, he took a deep breath and knocked.

It was Kyle who welcomed him. «Come in.» he said and then took him on a tour of the house, which ended in his bedroom.

It was a very normal room, with a messy desk and a hastily arranged bed. On the walls, instead of posters, there were guitars hanging. He had three. To Wade they were all the same, but surely there had to be some difference.

The guitars weren't a surprise though, it was the piano he wasn't expecting to see. He didn't think Kyle was the piano type.

Wade touched the keys.

«You can play it.» Kyle told him.

Wade sat back, pretending to lift the tail of an imaginary jacket, and Kyle laughed. But he stopped almost immediately. Wade hit the keys randomly and the sound was really terrible.

Kyle put his hand on Wade's to stop him. «Have mercy on my ears.»

«How dare you?! Some would even say I'm better than you.» joked Wade.

«Let me help you.», Kyle freed his hand only to step behind him.

Wade blushed when he felt Kyle's chest press into his back while his arms wrapped around Wade's shoulders. Kyle placed his hands on Wade's and gently began to press on his fingers to make the sound come out, a sound certainly better than the one Wade made. But he couldn't even hear it. All Wade was feeling was the touch of Kyle caressing his fingers.

Time seemed to stop, as if that moment could last forever.

When the doorbell rang, Wade jumped and sadly returned to reality. He hated whoever was beyond the door of that house, for having interrupted that moment of sweetness.

Kyle released him and Wade was able to breathe regularly again. His heart, however, still hadn't calmed down, nor did the feeling of heat on his face. That sort of hug had been embarrassing but at the same time pure magic.

«I'd better go and open the door.» Kyle said.

Wade nodded, standing up, still a little red in the face. He looked at Kyle's cheeks, seeing if they were blushing beneath those freckles. But Kyle turned to leave the room. Wade had no choice but to follow him.

All evening, Wade did nothing but peek in his direction, hoping to meet his eyes, hoping that Kyle, from time to time, was looking at him too. More than once, Kyle actually stared back at him, fueling the anticipation of Wade. Which of course, when the lights went out, couldn't sleep. He was lying on the floor, right next to Kyle. It was impossible to sleep, knowing he was just inches away.

Out of the corner of his eye, Wade glanced in Kyle's direction. He managed to see him even though there wasn't much light coming from the window. His hair messed up by the pillow covered part of his face, but it was still a beautiful sight.

Wade raised his back and looked around, to make sure Gavin, Richard and Bryan were sleeping. Then he looked back at Kyle, lying next to him. He had a burning desire to use his shoulder as a pillow. Maybe Wade had completely lost his mind, but he was stronger than him. He didn't think about it for too long. They were all sleeping, he could allow himself, even if for a few seconds, to turn that fantasy a reality.

Without making sudden movements, Wade lay down under the covers and bent his head to rest it gently on Kyle's shoulder. He didn't even care if he woke up, it was worth it. For a moment he thought he had woken Kyle. He thought he heard Kyle's heartbeat racing, but maybe he was confusing it with his own. It was pounding so loudly that it was ringing in his ears.

He stayed like that for a few seconds. Then he put his head back on his pillow and tried to sleep.
