Years have passed since the heaven and earth collided

And the laws of life and nature bent to a woman's grief

Years have passed since I went out and decided

To push my luck and the gods to let us meet again even when time is brief

Now I notice that the sun past the trees and behind the mountains

Is lovely; no more do I toss my pennies for a wish in the fountains

And every time I see your face in every sign and reflection,

No longer do I weep in sadness and desperation

I admit, sometimes I still long for the days that once were

And even for the days that never were; oh, my mind is a blur

Sometimes, at night, I still cry, "Oh, how I miss you

I wish you were here," but I know your light would never bid me adieu

But as I promised, no longer will I cry for you

For I shall smile and be free when I remember all our love that is true

And so each time I yearn for all that has been

I bask in the sunlight in our field where the grass is always green

Oh, but years have passed and all the children have grown

Many things have gone and come, even those we've always known

I wonder, why does the lake shimmer so brightly tonight?

"Ah, is it time, my kind Reaper?" I asked,

"Have I reached the end of it, past the present, at last?"

"A delight, isn't it?" the reaper reached out a hand

"You have come to where it all began; oh, how fate be so grand"

Death pulled me through where it once took me out

And we sailed on for hours; we talked like friends without a doubt

At the end of if all, the reaper spoke, "Guiding you to and fro

Has been and will always be a pleasure." And so through the night the river flowed
