"Oh come on, Lyn." I groan. Katelyn checks off a box in her never ending list of what we're going to do as a 'couple' because, according to her, she has the "'experiences' of actually being in a relationship."
We're sitting in the cafeteria for breakfast, but instead of eating, I'm getting lectures. Literal lectures about 'relationships and how to handle them'.
This day cannot get any worse.
"Hello, sweetheart." A painfully familiar voice drawls from behind me.
No wait. It just got worse. I sigh.
"Oh my god Aiden, will you stop saying that when we're alone?" I grumble, hungry and exhausted, even though its ten in the morning. Fortunately, I have not seen Brandon anywhere. I hope he doesn't confront me. I hope I don't see his face at all.
"Oops. Sorry, sweet-"
"Shut up!" I shout, a little too loud, the people around us are staring.
"Shhh, we are supposed to be a loving couple, sweetheart." He teases.
My face flushes, but I cover it up with a roll of my eyes.
So much for a fake boyfriend.
Aiden sits on the chair beside me, and Cole is with him too.
"Finally. I was getting hungry." I say, as I reach for the food on Aiden's tray.
"Nope. Get your own, sweetheart." He says this with a grin as he snatches away his tray from my reach.
"God, you annoying little-!"
I take a deep breath. Calm down.
I go to the lunch lady and get my own, as well as another one for Lyn.
Also, what's with Aiden calling me 'sweetheart?' If any other girl had been called that by him, she would have freaked out. In happiness. I believe the word is swooned. He is a very popular person, after all.
But I'm not 'any other girl'.
I don't even know why he hangs out with us. We're not even that popular.
I tell myself that it is probably because Cole and Lyn are together, but he'd hung out with us even before that.
Lyn's voice jerks me out of my thoughts.
"Ashley! The pickup lines!" She says, handing me the list. I read it in horror.
There is flirting, kisses on the cheeks, dates, more dates, hand holding, and much, much more.
It seems like Lyn is more excited than I am.
And I am not excited at all. Period.
"It's just four weeks anyway, we don't even have to do these things." I had said to Lyn when we were at my house and she was making the infamous list.
"A lot of things can happen in four weeks." She'd replied, grinning like a doofus.
Typical Lyn.
I try to stow the piece of paper out of Aiden's sight, but he grabs—no wait, seizes—the list out of my hand, and my face feels warm as he scans the contents.
"I did not write that." I say. Why am I trying to justify it? I have no reason to.
"Ooo... uh huh, damn! Spicy." He says between each point in the list, and after what feels like an eternity, he returns the paper to Lyn, with a teasing smile at me.
My cheeks turn red. Because of embarrassment, nothing else.
Since when did Aiden start to flirt? And since when was he good at it?
Fortunately, I am saved by the bell. Thank you bell, I owe you.
Speaking of, I almost forgot about the "I want something in return" statement made by the honorary citizen of hell. He probably forgot too.
Ashley finds herself in a precarious situation with a persistent (and creepy) suitor, desperate for an escape. Thinking on her feet, she grabs the closest person and claims they are dating, only to find out it's her sworn enemy, Aiden.
God, anyone but him.
They've always argued and annoyed each other to no end, but now they need to pretend to be in a relationship in order to drive the creep away.
But as time passes, it becomes increasingly difficult to deny the growing bond between them.
