Wade had just crossed the threshold of the classroom when he felt something get in the way of his backpack. He thought he had gotten caught in the doorknob, but when he turned to check, he realized it was Kyle holding him back. He didn't understand what he was doing there, he didn't attend that class.
As soon as he made sure he had Wade's attention, Kyle let go and proudly showed him a flyer. «My first performance in a venue. You have to be there.» he said with a bright smile. He grabbed Wade's hands, crumpling the already completely worn poster. «Please, please, please.»
Wade smiled. «Obviously I have to, or there won't be any audience.»
«Very funny.», Kyle released Wade and headed for the door. «You promised. You must not forget about it.» he added, then said goodbye to him, very happily, waving the poster.
Wade couldn't forget it even if he wanted to, Kyle never missed an opportunity to remind him. During classes together, when they met in the corridors and, obviously, also in the cafeteria. Wade really found him very adorable, so he would be there no matter what. He wanted to support Kyle and above all hear him play once again. He vividly remembered when he had watched his performance in the streets. The following afternoons, sometimes, he went back there on purpose hoping to hear him sing again, but unfortunately he didn't succeed. That's why he couldn't wait for evening to come. He was eager to see Kyle performing. And this time he didn't even have to hide far away in embarrassment.
Wade was accompanied by his sister, Morgan, as well as Gavin. Even just one more person counted. There weren't many people in the club but Kyle, Richard and Bryan didn't seem to care. They were happy doing what they loved doing most. And then it was difficult to hold back the smile when their three biggest fans screamed and let loose like crazy. Particularly Gavin and Morgan who tried to compensate for the lack of audience. Wade also shouted from time to time, but he preferred to listen, mesmerized by Kyle's voice.
At the end of the live, Kyle runs to hug them, satisfied with their performance. He even hugged Morgan, who he didn't know at all, still caught up in the adrenaline. When he came face to face with Wade, Kyle didn't have an ounce of hesitation. He threw his arms around his neck and held Wade close. It was, without a doubt, the longest hug of the three.
Wade felt breathless with joy. He was really proud of his friends. «You did great.» he said, still crushed in Kyle's tender grip. Wade wanted to tell him much more but he felt uncomfortable in front of others.
Kyle released him and smiled at him before running off to get a drink. His throat was destroyed after singing for two hours.
Morgan approached his brother with a smirk. «If you want to be left alone, just say so.» she whispered to him.
«It was just a way to thank me for the support. He hugged you too.» he retorted, still in a low voice.
«Not for that long.»
Wade pretended to ignore her, even though acctually he had noticed it too. He didn't want to travel with his imagination but it was too late to stop something that had already taken over.
