I stared with wide eyes at the chaos unfolding before me. All sorts of magical beasts surrounded her, forcing her to retreat with her back against a tree.
The creatures bared their teeth under the glistening glow of the blue moon.
“Over here” I cried, but it was to little use, the beasts had found their prey, and they weren't going to let her get away.
I skulked into a nearby bush and hid, even if I could kill the monsters, I wouldn't have enough control over my magic to guarantee the girls survival, and I wasn't going to increase the number of human deaths my magic had caused, not on someone like her.
There had to be some way I could save her.
To my surprise, I felt something slip out of my pocket, and fall with a loud crunch onto the dead leaves scattered across the floor. The pouch! I wonder if the god had put any starter weapons into the pouch! He did say that my physical attributes had also been increased, so maybe I would be able to take on the beasts with a sword.
I opened the pouch and dug my hands into its opening. A tingling sensation wrapped around my hands, while a solid base formed into my palm. I ripped my hand out of the bag and admired the regal sword that had appeared in it.
I stood up from the bush, drew my right leg back and pounced onto the nearest wolf, slicing through it’s neck. I continued flailing my sword around wildly at any beast that faced me, until, much to my disappointment, all of their heads rolled along the beaten path, there was none left to kill.
I walked over to the girls shivering body, she took her head out from between her legs.
I stumbled back in frightened surprise, this wasn’t a young girl, it was the most hideous woman I had ever seen! her features were all distorted, her slim, long body made her appearance seem inhuman.
Her face morphed from a look of terror, to a look of pure joy.
“Thanks for saving me young man, my name is Terra”
