To Mend a Shattered Heart

Would You Wait?

Would You Wait?

Dec 22, 2023

“I couldn’t bring Haejun! I didn’t want to anyway! I was at Sua’s, so she brought me!”

“Ooh! Why were you at Sua’s, Seonwoo?” she heard what sounded like the make-up artist, Hannah’s voice.

“Do tell more, Seonwoo.” Kira’s voice stated.

“I had just woken up, okay, I didn’t have time to have Haejun pick me up! Besides, I didn’t want to sit in that Ice Princess’ car anyway.”

“But Sua’s is okay?”

Sua stopped, in the audible range of the conversation, but not visible. She was near his dressing room door, but decided, against her better judgment, to listen to the conversation. She didn’t know what she had hoped to gain from eavesdropping, but she couldn’t just walk away at a time like this.

“No, it’s a vehicle. A mode of transportation.” he sighed, “But I’d rather be with her than Haejun.”

Hannah spoke up again, “You said you had just woken up, so you woke up late in the afternoon, what were you doing?”

“Sleeping.”

“Not that, idiot,” Hannah sighed, “Before you went to sleep.”

“Looking for Sua’s story about a dragon.”

“She writes fantasy?” Kira asked.

“She didn’t have one.” Seonwoo sighed. “She said she writes fluffy things, not erotic things.”

“What got you into a conversation like that?”

Sua blushed, and couldn’t bear listening to the conversation anymore. She hurried into his dressing room, slamming the door behind her. Her heart beat faster than she wanted it to, as she made her way to the couch, to pretend she had been there the whole time. It was a few minutes later that the door opened, and Seonwoo walked in, immediately looking at himself in the mirror.

“Dragons are cool.” he mumbled, before dropping his head, “shit, shit, shit.” Sua wanted to ask what was wrong, but he pulled at his hair ruining all of the gel that was put in it, he placed both hands on the counter, and stared down at whatever was on the counter. “Why’d they have to ask so many questions? Like sure, she blurted something she didn’t mean to say, but why does that mean that they have to bug me about it. I’m not the one who said it.” he sighed, and pulled the tight shirt off over his head.

Did she miss her chance to say something, she could see herself in the mirror, so he knew she was here, right?

He grabbed a makeup wipe, “I really don’t want to take this off.” he pouted, “Hey Hannah!” he yelled, before opening the door, “I’m taking off all your contouring!”

“What!” came the immediate response, “Why?”

“Cause I don’t want to wear it anymore!” he slammed the door shut, “It also feels weird!”

Sua stood up from the couch, quietly, deciding she should just leave, talk to him later. It was only her, and him in his dressing room, after all.

“Sua!” Seonwoo stated, as soon as she stood up, “I looked cool, right?” He turned around to face her.

“Um, yeah, you need to change, so, I’ll just get going then.” she responded, and began making her way to the door.

“What? Why?”

“Don’t you have some interview thing you have to do with your VIPs? And going out for photos afterward?”

“People are weird.” Seonwoo sighed, “But I still don’t understand why you have to leave.”

“You called me weird, didn’t you?” Sua asked.

He nodded, “Yeah, you are, too.”

“Doesn’t change the fact that you’re gonna change though.”

“And?”

“And this is your dressing room, so I should leave so you can change.”

“But I can change behind the curtain like I did before.”

“Seonwoo, listen I-”

“Just stay here for a minute, I’ll be right back.” he hurried to the other side of the dressing room, behind the curtain. She sighed, and decided to sit on the couch. Her eyes wandered around the room. She heard a door slide open, and then close, but she didn’t think much of it. She pulled out her phone, as she heard the sound of running water. A shower. There was a shower behind the curtain. Her face hid in her hands as reality struck her. But she completely understood why he was taking a shower, that was the easiest, and fastest way to get off all that make-up. She swore a half hour had gone by already when she heard the shower stop. She hadn’t been able to focus on her messages, as she recalled less than decent memories with her ex’s, specifically involving situations like this, that they pushed her into. Soon, they’d ask something like,

“Shit! I forgot a towel.” Seonwoo yelled, “Hey, Sua, you’re still there right, could you get me a towel? It should be in the wardrobe, I think… Wait, did Hannah move it?”

And she’d end up in a situation where they’d try to undress her and take a ‘shower’ with her. It was uncomfortable, and she hated it. She sighed.

“Sua, you’re still there, right?”

Seonwoo did call for a towel. She frowned, any thought that she had that he was different was suddenly disappearing from her head. “Where’d you say it was again?” she called back, though disappointed.

“I think it’s in the wardrobe, but Hannah might have moved them! I think they’re red!”

“Wardrobe?” Sua called back, as she opened up the wardrobe doors, and was met with quite a few cute onesies that she could and couldn’t picture Seonwoo wearing. No towels, really. She opened one of the drawers, and immediately closed it. She didn’t need to see his boxers, and briefs. She opened the next drawer down, and pulled out a towel. She hesitantly made her way to the curtain, and slowly opened it, the glass on the shower wasn’t exactly see through, and it helped that it was covered with fog. She gulped and placed the towel on the stool that was sitting back there.

“Thanks, Sua!” Seonwoo responded. She froze from walking away, expecting him to say something else. She glanced behind her as she grabbed hold of the curtain, and noticed a hand against the glass. She quickly slipped out and stood on the other side of the curtain, as she heard the shower door open.

“Hey, Sua, guess what!” Seonwoo stated, as he walked out of the curtain, and straight to the clothes hanging on the rack. Merely wrapped in the towel she had brought him.

“What?” she answered, looking solely at the wall.

“You remember Liza, right?” he asked, grabbing a shirt and pants from the rack, and heading over to the wardrobe.

“Yeah, she’s the one who called you so we could hurry over here.” Sua responded, glancing over at him to see his tattooed back, and returning her gaze to the wall.

“So she called me to make sure I got here, after you were in the VIP section,” he stated, as he opened one of the drawers. “But she also wanted to ask me for an opinion on some outfit.”

“Opinion on an outfit?” Sua asked, turning to face him, as he closed the top drawer. Bad decision, look away, she thought to herself, before he locked eyes with her.

“Yeah, apparently the guy she’s been interested in since she came back into the country finally asked her out.” he stated, and she was glad the rack of clothes obscured most of her view of his lower half. He bent down.

“She was out of the country?” Sua asked, as Seonwoo stood back up, and brought his eyes up to hers.

“Yeah, been out of the country for what? Two years? Didn’t contact anyone the whole time, Mira, Eli, the rest of the agency, and I were all really worried.” he stated, bending down again.

“So she was asked out by someone she was interested in, and asked for your advice?”

“On a dress, yeah.” he answered. Standing up again, his hands on his hips, as he glanced around, “where’d I put my shirt?”

Sua flushed as she finally realized what he had been doing, and looked away, “so was it a facetime, then?”

“Yeah, she likes to do that a lot.” he answered, “there it is!”

“So who’s the guy?”

“You haven’t met him yet,” Seonwoo answered, pulling his shirt over his head, “he’s kinda weird, and is friends with Eunja, Imyeong, and Hyunjin.”

“I know who Eunja  is now, but…”

“Eunja  is Eli’s wife, but her, Bokgyu, and Hyunjin are part of Imyeong’s band.”

“Bokgyu is the guy who asked out Liza?” Sua asked, as Seonwoo picked up his towel.

“Yeah, don’t know why she likes him, he’s so weird.” he answered, tossing the towel on the wet towel rack, and opening the wardrobe again.

“So did you give her your opinion?”

“Yeah, but I told her that you probably would be able to tell her better, or Yuna, so I gave her your number.”

“What!” Sua jumped from her seat, “you gave her my number?”

“Yeah,” Seonwoo answered, pulling some shoes from the bottom rack of the wardrobe, “she asked for it.”

“You don’t just go giving people other people’s numbers!” Sua marched over, to where Seonwoo was putting on his shoes, his hair still dripping wet.

“But you guys are friends, so it’s fine.” he answered, looking up at her, with one shoe on, the other in his hand.

“And you have a great fashion sense,” she gestured to his outfit, which he looked crazy good in, “so why give her my number.”

He looked down at himself, “You think I’m the one who chose this?” he asked, “besides, it’s not even a dress.”

“Not all girls need to wear dresses,” Sua sighed, “and you could have chosen one of her dresses easily.” Deciding to ignore the fact that she forgot he had a stylist who chose his outfits.

“I did.” Seonwoo answered, putting on his other shoe, “but she didn’t like my choice.”

“What’d you choose?”

“The third one.” he answered, hitting his feet together, before standing up.

“I don’t know what the ‘third one’ is.”

“It’s the third dress she showed me, I don’t think it would have looked good on you.” he took a step forward.

“That doesn’t help in knowing what it is, besides, tell her you sent her the wrong number, and we’ll be good. I don’t hand my number out to just anyone.”

“I have it.” Seonwoo answered, taking another step toward her.

Sua gulped, “and I didn’t want to give it to you.”

Seonwoo tilted his head, he was too close, “Why?”

“You just got it by accident because I called you, that’s all.”

“Okay.” Seonwoo answered, as he placed his hands on her hips.

Sua stiffened, she wasn’t ready for something like that, “So tell her you sent her the wrong number, besides you said that Yuna could also help her, so why send her my number?”

“Yuna already did help her.” Seonwoo stated, turning her around.

“What are you doing!” she exclaimed as he guided her out of the room.

“The VIP guests have probably been waiting a while,” he answered, “come on, let’s go.”

Upon reaching the stage, Sua stopped, “You want me to go onto the stage with you?” she asked, spinning back around to look at him.

“Yeah, why?” he responded, hands still resting on her waist.

“Let go!” she exclaimed, “I’m not the one they paid money to see, and you’re making me uncomfortable! I’ll go back to my seat!”

Placing the single stool on the stage, Yuna made her way backstage to Seonwoo, as Sua tried prying his hands off of her. “Seonwoo, they’re waiting for you.”

“I said let go!”

Seonwoo turned his attention to Yuna, “Oh, crap! I forgot to put on my mic!”

“You don’t need one!” Yuna and Sua yelled at the same time, causing Seonwoo to let go of Sua, and grab at his ears.

“Did you not realize that you forgot to put on your mic for your entire performance?” Yuna sighed, “As the security was watching from the entrance, they said they could hear you loud and clear. Literally everything you said, with the crowd’s cheering, too.”

“Figures,” Sua mumbled, brushing the wrinkles out of her shirt. “I’m gonna go ahead and sit back down.”

“Hey, Sua!” Seonwoo stated, causing Sua’s attention to address him, instead of the wrinkles he made.

“Yeah?”

“I’ve got an interview with Rogue after this VIP thing, could you wait for me to finish?” The way the light from the stage hit him, with his head slightly tilted made her take notice of the scar on his neck.

She nodded, “I drove you here, idiot.”

“Thanks, Sua!” he smiled, and turned his attention to Yuna as she lectured him about how he should have had Haejun drive him instead, for the third time that day.

Sua opened the backstage doors, and made her way back to her seat, smiling.

“Hey, Dragon’s friend!” someone called to her, as she was about to sit down. It might have been the same person who had called her before Eunja ’s performance.

“Yes?” she turned to look at where the voice came from.

“He has such a loud voice doesn’t he?” someone else stated.

“Knew it, she was the one yelling.” another person sighed.

The person who had called her stood up, “Have you ever-” he was cut off, as Seonwoo came onto the stage.
