“Watch out!” Royse shouted warning Mira who was about to step on the rooster. His eyes narrowed down to the rooster, who had lazily flopped its way in front of Mira while she was stomping her feet. “Mira you idiot stop!”
It was too late without realizing she had crushed the rooster on her way to the door.
She had got herself distracted trying to make a plan to steal, not realizing the chicken was trying to take her life away. Each of the chickens seemed to have a different ability or power that could possibly kill a grown man. Betsy and Royse ran towards Mira who refused to lift her feet in fear of being killed.
“Mira, what are you doing pick up your legs?” Royse asked with a high-pitched voice staring at the chicken under her feet. He grabbed her arm trying to move her, but she just yanked it back out of his hands with force.
Royse finally noticed the look on Mira’s face, she was scared for her life. She was profusely sweating, waiting for the chicken to make its move before she did anything reckless. Royse always saw Mira as a genius and nothing could get in her way without a fight. He once again couldn’t believe it.
“C’mon?.” he said in disbelief, dropping his hand to his sides trying to look at Mira in the eyes.
It was just like the time she got kidnapped. He didn’t believe that his sister could ever be hurt or captured. Royse has never seen her vulnerable or unprepared for something they had never seen before. He had every right to be worried about Mira’s mentality, it was true she was attentive enough to think through every possible solution or circumstance coming their way, this was the main reason they had never been caught stealing or captured before. She’s been distracted with something else, that was more important than her life which came with a price.
At times when Mira encounters something unprecedented she overthinks. Surprising situations are extremely rare for her so over-analyzing is her way to overcome it.
Mira was currently trying to find the chicken's ability before lifting up her feet. ‘I didn’t see him in my way, this was probably his plan to get me somehow. What if it’s poisonous by the touch? Or maybe it’ll explode once I lift my feet. Whatever it is I need to do something quick or we’ll all die. What if we j-’
Mira’s thoughts were rudely interrupted when she felt a sharp push on her side. She was surprised to look up and see Betsy had pushed her out of impulse.
“Tsk.” Mira kissed her teeth in annoyance. She stared at Betsy with blazing eyes. Even though Mira could clearly see Betsy had no malicious intent of hurting her, she was still irritated. “What do you think you're doing,” Mira growled.
“I-” Just when Betsy was going to explain herself she got distracted by the elderly chicken who got up on his hind legs and started walking toward Mira.
The chicken walked his two thin legs towards Mira with a menacing look in his eye, but Royse didn’t let it get any closer.
He kicked the frail thing with all his power and might, but it was like kicking paper. The chicken didn’t go flying into the floor but it just flopped onto Royse’s shoes. Royse kicked it once again hoping for it to go up flying but it was light as a feather. It once again flopped on top of Royse’s foot and once he stomped his leg down it fell with no weight, swaying and falling down like a balloon.
Betsy had pity for the poor thing being stomped on and kicked around for no particular reason, except for fear. Royse started prepping for another kick pulling his leg back as far as he could, putting his all into this last one.
“Stop doing that!” Betsy shouted, demanding Royse stop abusing the fragile animal. She crossed her arms and looked at Royse with disappointment in her big eyes. She had walked up next to the chicken trying to defend it. “This isn’t right, I can’t just stand here and wa-”
There was a sound of a mild thud under Betsy’s foot. Betsy falls and accidentally holds her heel with both of her wounded hands. The chicken had bit Betsy with an abnormal amount of force, absorbing the impact from Royse and Mira and delivering it back to Betsy’s heel with a ten times greater impact. Betsy’s heel was swollen to the size of an apple.
“Are you kidding me get up! What do you think you’re doing?” Royse yelled at her taking a few steps back in disbelief. Without any more hesitation, Royse kicked the chicken as far as he could. This time the chicken didn’t feel like paper but a solid rock. “Hurry and get up quickly!’ Royse shouted with worry, his high-pitched tone seeping through his words.
Royse extended his hand towards Betsy trying to help, but then he remembered her hands were injured so he just picked her up by the elbows. Betsy had severe injuries to her heel and hands due to the multiple tricks the chickens had been pulling. She wasn’t trying to kill the chickens, because it was the farmer's property and she’d feel bad if she had to tell the farmer that all his chickens were dead because of her.
This was the first time Royse was able to kick the rooster far enough to make it go flying through the air. Mira’s confusion was soon subdued after seeing the chicken being kicked across the floor. Her mouth was wide open after seeing it bite Betsy in her heel going through the tough leather boot. Seeing The chicken being launched gave Mira a small idea of the rooster’s abilities. Her astonishment turned to amusement as a small smirk changed her whole demeanor turning into confidence.
She had an idea of how to beat the chicken and its unpredictable tactics.
“Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!” Mira shouted with a content smile spreading across her face. Confidence and eagerness were itching in Mira’s brain. “Don’t you guys see? If you use rock which is a hard impact, the chicken will just use paper and absorb your hit and inflict it on you with more power. If you use paper to capture the chicken it’ll just use scissors and bite you. Finally, if you use scissors then…”
Mira turned around and picked a rusty cold hay fork from the floor and charged at the chicken with it. She sprinted her way to the old rooster with an eight-hay fork. She plunges the fork into the chicken's patchy feathers and it breaks. The old fork’s metals bend in contact causing it to break into pieces.
“It’ll turn to rock,” Mira said with a low chuckle. The old rooster had no choice, but to fall for the bait making Mira confident in her grand scheme.
Exactly what Mira expected, the chicken turns into a solid that’s stronger than steel itself. Now that Mira tested out her theory she had to act upon her plan. Royse looked up amazed at Mira’s plan while Betsy looked up confused.
“Scissors, rock, and paper?” Betsy asked in confusion with her head slightly tilted to the side, trying to understand what Mira meant by it. “What is she talking about?”
“Rock, paper, scissors, shoot! It’s a game that was made by the Gasyer family and became popular recently.” Royse explained eagerly while showing her the hand signs on how to play. He was excited to show her because it was the first game he could beat Mira in. “I’m the best of the best in my class! Rock beats scissors by crushing it, Scissors beat paper by cutting it, and paper beats rock by covering it. Mira sucks at this game because she’s always overthinking it.”
“So what you’re saying is that the animal has a defense, offense, and an amplifier to strengthen his attacks,” Betsy replied thinking about the fight more than the silly game. She crossed her arms in a serious manner worried sick about Mira.
“Uh, yeah sure, that’s what I meant,” Royse replied while scratching the back of his head. He was focused more on bragging than the fight itself.
Mira wasn’t the best at the simple game, but Royse was. Mira had already thought of switching with Royse which wasn’t the greatest idea. If Royse had fought the old rooster he would most likely chicken out and get injured in the process. Mira already had one scheme planned and she wasn’t scared to do it at all. Without hesitation, she began throwing multiple snowballs at the old rooster until she felt a sharp ache on her side rib. It was a small baby chick that was thrown toward her and felt like getting hit with a solid rock.
“Hey, you’re cheating!” Royse complained in anger shouting at the baby chicks. He pointed at them as if they had just committed a crime against humanity. “What do you think you’re doing that’s unfair y’know!”
Royse made the biggest snowball he could make which was the size of his head to wipe out all chicks. He threw the huge snowball toward the chick, but due to his terrible aim, he hit the two huge red wolves. Not only have they trespassed on the animals’ property but they also overstayed their welcome, by causing chaos and stress to the other animals. Royse gulped making his mouth dry and eyes shook in fear.
A chase between the three and the wolf ensued. As they ran rampant Betsy and Mira try to catch the wolves before they bit Royse.
Bang
The farm’s doors go flying.
Behind it was Royse running away from the two wolves chasing him. Mira rode one of the wolves on its back like a horse while grabbing its ears trying to redirect it away from Royse. Betsy tried to do what Mira was doing but she was too scared to look up. She just grabbed onto its fur with her head down. The two huge wolves chased Royse down with great speed. It was only a matter of time for them to catch up.. Royse tripped over a tree root causing him to fall face-first.
The wolf Betsy was riding on was ready to bite Royse’s shoulder until Betsy grabbed its jaw and flipped it over on its back. She had turned into a Wendigo in just a few seconds.
The other wolf pushed Mira off onto the ground charging at Betsy at full speed. Betsy picked up the other wolf and threw him at the other wolf. Betsy then picked Mira and Royse up and ran off into the forest while being chased by the two wolves right behind them.
Eventually, Betsy reaches the Repeating Forest leaving the two wolves at the entrance. It seems that the trio couldn’t catch a break They could see something growing from under the snow. Plants spread under the cold snow and Venus fly traps go in to attack Betsy, Royse, and Mira. Soldiers came from behind the lady as well ready for battle. Where they came from was a mystery for Betsy, but it seemed that Royse and Mira knew exactly who they were.
“Mira are they?” Royse asked in shock with a squeaky tone.
“This is just a theory, but I believe they are the ones who dropping Repeating Forest Merchandise,” Mira said staring at them blankly waiting to be attacked.
“So the bodies found in this forest come from an army?” Betsy said in disbelief. “ An army beyond the Repeating Forest.”
“An army that dies every time,” Royse added
“Who are they fighting is the real question,” Mira said
A sudden gust of wind ripped through the trees trampling the soldiers and causing some to fall to their knees and faces. Mira and Royse were very familiar with this rush of wind it was a warning. An unforgettable warning that leaves fear. A warning to anyone near the vicinity to take shelter. A message that danger was on the way and death was running amok. The Storm leaves no one unscathed from its wrath leaving an army and three children in the middle of its fury.
“They’re fighting my family,” Betsy said. She sighed in relief and a smile of relaxation spread across her face. “The village is finally rescued.”
“An army fighting a deadly storm is plain stupid,” Royse added once again
