Without batting an eye Royse is the first to rush towards the army. Betsy smiles before running behind him. Mira is hesitant about them and begins sprinting towards them because of her brother.
“Hey were the villagers who need help!” Royse shouted with high hopes and spirits. His eyes gleamed with curiosity. He waves his arms up to get the troops' attention. “We need to hurry!”
Within seconds a ginormous plant eats the army whole. The troops didn’t even have time to react to the monstrous thing. None of the kids had ever seen it before, the plant was alien to them. it’s a Venus flytrap that had encased an entire army in its mouth. The hope rushed out of Betsy’s and Royse’s hearts filling it with dread. They believed that the troops were supposed to help them fight against the abnormal storm.
The shocked look on Mira’s face subsided. She knew that the troops were the ones dying over and over again. The dead bodies left behind are the soldiers. The storm would engulf the whole forest freezing them to death. Eaten by a monster never crossed Mira’s head because everyone knows that the dead bodies are usually frozen in the Repeating Forest. ‘What is the army looking for or who are they fighting’ Mira continued to ponder until she was something behind her.
A Venus flytrap sprouted discreetly behind three kids. Mira is the first one to notice and the first one to be eaten whole. Royse and Betsy don’t even notice Mira is gone. They’re still staring at the monstrous plant lying on the ground as if stuffed over the big meal. Finally, Royse was eaten then Betsy. They’re dumbfounded not having a clue what’s going on. Inside the plant is dark and cramped they couldn’t even move a single muscle in there. In the blink of an eye, the plant began dragging them against the snow. the plants threw the three of them right in front of the monster
The mouth of the trap plant began to open slightly in front of them. As the heat inside began to hit the children's pale faces. From inside the carnivorous plant, Several pairs of hands snatched the kids out of the snow putting them inside the Venus flytrap.
“What the heck” Royse blurted in astonishment.
“You’re inside of a Dionaea muscipula commonly known as a Venus flytrap it’s a type of plant you might not heard of. This will be your first and last time seeing it, unfortunately.” The mysterious woman explained while raising her hand slowly. “On my command, you kill the three of them.”
“Well fair enough. I thought my death would have been the storm, the Wendigo family, or that cannibalistic village.” Royse said while shrugging his shoulders. He tried to make them feel pity or give them something they wanted. “This death is better since we already know those groups of wendigos are going down finally.”
“You know about the creatures that reside here?” The woman asked in disbelief.
Royse couldn’t help, but smile. He always had a way of people hearing him out even if their decision seemed final. He made sure no one could see his sly smirk since he was looking down at the ground. Mira knew exactly what he was up to, but he could only buy them time, not their lives. Before he spoke to the lady he fixed his posture like a businessman ready to negotiate prices.
“Not only do I have knowledge of them, but one is with me right now,” Royse said while pointing directly at Betsy. He needed all their attention and trust first.
Within seconds guns were pointing at the three of them, especially at Betsy from all directions. The air turned tense as if every word that came out of Royse’s mouth suffocated the cold air. Before the captain could say anything Royse interrupted her before she could make a command.
“She’s the one helping us to free the village since none of you are capable. ” Royse said while crossing his arms. “She’s already defeated one of them. I bet she can kill the rest, unlike you guys. Pft you can’t get out of the Repeating forest.”
“Excuse me?” The commander asked.
“You are in the Repeating Forest. you can’t get leave unless you’re one of the chosen few,” Royse responded. He rolled his eyes before explaining the whole situation. “This Forest doesn’t let anyone an entry or exit-”
“I know about this forsaken forest. It’s what you said before that, you people aren’t a village. You’re all parasites and viruses that could potentially corrupt the whole world if you’re let out of the barrier.” The woman spat her words like poison. “My army has been sent to eradicate and exterminate every living organism and thing here.”
“So you haven’t been trying to rescue us?” Royse asked. “We’re just children and there are other people who need your help.”
“You all are animals that have been eating each other including children. We certainly can not bring these types of people back to our society.” The woman answered with a disdainful look on her face
“Since we can not agree to save my people, then I suggest we come to a temporary deal,” Royse suggested. “This will only be temporary. Since we both have the same enemy we can help each other until our foe is dead.”
“What can a bunch of little parasites do for me?” The lady asked.
“We know the enemy, where they live, their names. Weaknesses and strengths. You guys haven’t seen them,” Royse explained. “You need us because we have one of them in our group and she knows them from the back of her hand.”
Betsy is now at the center of attention she couldn’t help but clear her dry throat. The leader stared at her for a while until she nodded her head. The tension finally left out of Royse's body and his muscles could finally relax. Betsy gave a smile in relief.
“I’ll be asking three questions if you answer them correctly then you will be staying here until we dispose of our enemy.” The commander said. “This is a test to see if you’re lying.”
“Okay!” Royse said with a smile.
“How do you exactly kill a wendigo?”The lady asked
“You rip its heart out and burn it,” Betsy answered
“Is that so?” The lady said with suspicion in her eye.
Betsy began fidgeting with her sleeves and started looking around the room as some soldiers began setting up tents and fires. The place was spacious and big enough to put up 100 of tents and fire. Seeing some of the fighters put up fires to warm themselves made Mira more aware of her surroundings. She looked around the huge plant they were in. She looked at every corner, floor, and roof and shook her head as if she were dissatisfied. Mira pointed at the campfires with her eyes furrowed almost down to her eyes.
“You can’t do that right now!” Mira exclaimed in anger. “There’s no way for air to come in so we’re limited on the air supply.”
Everyone paused to look around and she was right. There are no gaps that air could come inside the huge plant. They were limited on time if they decided to stay in the plant for a long time they’d eventually run out of air and suffocate. The human body wouldn’t be able to survive without oxygen after a few minutes the person will begin to faint and then have brain damage.
“Just open the flytrap slightly so we can have oxygen flowing through.” One of the men suggested and soon others joined in to protest.
“No! We probably can’t feel it now but the storm has already started. It’s too risky for now.” Mira said pointing at the mouth of the plant.
“She’s right this storm is very unpredictable it has a mind of its own we should just stay calm and come up with a solid plan first,” Royse yelled in a calm way to simmer down the angsty soldiers.
Some of the soldiers looked mad and others were worried. They murmured and gossiped amongst themselves judging and planning on what to do. Mira and Royse were terrified and didn't want them to open up the plant not even for a second. They were now stuck inside with no air which means they were limited on time. They have to come up we a plan before they die. While Mira was thinking the soldiers were panic stricken.
“Captain Aviary, Please open the plant slightly so we can breathe it won’t do us any harm. It’s either that or we die.” One soldier said and others agreed which put the captain, Aviary in a hard position.
“This will be your doings, not mine. Do you understand?” The captain said glaring at them in anger.
“Yes, Captain Aviary!” The soldiers shouted acknowledging the captain's assertation.
Before the captain could open the plant the kids moved as far away from the entrance as possible. They took cover behind some tents by crouching behind them and hiding their faces between their legs.
One man stood in front of the Venus flytrap mouth waiting for it to open. With a fearless look in his eye, he was going to prove that the kids shouldn’t be trusted. The man stood in front of the entrance of the plant to see the storm the kids were talking about. Aviary opens the mouth of the Venus flytrap to let the man take a look. She was anxious about doing this but her soldiers had spoken and gotten the best of her. She wasn’t a very confrontational person so she took the majority vote and went with it. As the jaws of the huge plant opened snow began to come in through the entrance. The soldier put on a cocky smile while looking at the snowstorm. Shaking his head in disbelief he laughed off the storm as if it was simply a child throwing a tantrum. He scoffed and looked back at the kids hiding behind a tent he then looked at his leader, Aviary.
“Are you seriously making a deal with a bunch of parasites, that exaggerate their stories chief?” The man said anger slipping through his words on accident. “Well you’re one as well, so I shouldn’t be surprised.”
Everybody looked at each other with doubt and suspicion about their commander. They began murmuring. Aviary was also considered a parasite or a virus trying to take over the world. She somehow became a captain of an army. The snowstorm covered the trees ahead with its powerful and furious winds. Only sheets of white snow could be seen flying from all directions wanting to grab something. The same man turned back around to take another glimpse of the snowstorm through the plant. As he took a look he saw someone standing in the middle of the chaos.
“Hey, there’s someone out there!” The man exclaimed in shock.
“Impossible, you’re seeing things moron!” Royse yelled back in disagreement. “How can you see with the storm!”
“Hah, the only thing I see is someone coming closer and I’m pretty sure it’s human. It’s over kid you’re a bad liar!” The man said in complete confidence. “Wait a minute the wind out here… is pretty strong he’s not even tumbling or swaying.”
“Cl-” Mira couldn’t even get a sentence out.
The man screamed in unimaginable pain as the ice began spreading on his eye and then down to his nose and chin. His screams died out when his whole face turned to cold hard ice and continued spreading like wildfire. His body and clothes were being frozen and the freezing speed gradually increased as it consumed more. It was now up to his arms soldiers. Some started becoming Jittery some were frozen in place watching the ice consume them bit by bit and grow its speed. A woman went up to try and stop the spreading hoping he was still alive under the ice.
“Stop!” Aviary commanded, only to be disobeyed.
The woman ignored her captain and went on to grab the man’s arm shaking him. Her eyes were filled with tears and dread that were ready to burst any second now. Everyone watched in horror as the woman’s arm began to freeze without even noticing. She was so concentrated on the man she hadn’t even realized the ice had reached up to her arm.
“Wh-What’s going on?!” The woman yelled in fear.
She tried to pull away as hard as she could but her efforts were overpowered by the ice. She grabbed onto the man’s arm with her other hand and started punching it, she continued punching the ice until it started reaching her neck. In the end, all she could do was squeeze the man’s frozen arm as a last effort. Everyone watched in silence as the frost swallowed her and the man up in seconds. The frost had eaten them whole leaving ice sculptures of them. The two soldiers were now frozen to death, but it was far from over as the ice seemed to have a mind of its own and spread onto the plant's floor and ceiling.
The frost speed increased the more it consumed objects and things. It looked like an animal feasting on whatever it could get its hands on. The ice swallowed everything including the Venus flytrap devouring it whole. The man standing outside in the storm causing this was Milles Gasyer. Milles is the one killing anyone who enters or tries to leave the Repeating forest, including any army that comes through. Since he’s the only member of the Gasyer family able to leave the Repeating forest with ease he is given the task of murdering anyone inside the forest.
